In Singapore this is considered corruption, a cabinet minister had to resign recently for accepting tickets to football games etc by a billionaire. Zero tolerance for corruption.

She's clearly having a hard time with this, isn’t she? It’s strikingly hypocritical coming from someone with a £150,000 salary and the brass neck to call the Tories out for the same cronyism.
They do seem quite genuinely surprised people care about this, which tbh is more concerning than if they just admitted it was a mistake and moved on. Their problem is if they admit it was bad, every one of them was doing it so nobody can fall on their sword and absorb all the blame

Reeves has a naturally stuttering style - listen to her other interviews. She often has a faltering intonation, which is unfortunate though not a sign of guilt.

I am a 70 yr Pensioner and a widower the government has taken away my heating allowance and now talking about taking away my single allowance council tax , I feel so bad that theses politicians can't live on there politicians pay , the poor things can't afford to pay for there own heating bills either the poor BASTERDS.

An utterly shameful display of greed and hypocrisy. In the private sector many employees are required to take compulsory anti bribery training. It is usually a sackable offence to accept high value gifts. Clearly a lot of the newly appointed cabinet consider this a totally justifiable gravy train

I have a simple solution to all these controversies and arguments about political "donations" - ban them all in the UK. Stop ALL political parties from being able to accept ANY donations, freebies, cash and goods from donors of any kind. Politicians should live within their means, as the rest of us have to.

Under the previous leader the Labour party paid off their debt. The main money came from individual members. We had the largest membership of any party in Europe. Reeves celebrated the fact that the membership has halved under Starmer. That is why they are dependent on large donors.
