I worked in the financial services sector for nearly 2 decades as an IT specialist (not a banker!).
Regulatory compliance is top of the agenda. We had regular training and testing to ensure our compliance. This became more important in the wake/aftermath of the credit crunch.
Two things infuriate me with this Rachel Reeves nonsense.
Number one is that these "donations" are indeed technically bribes.
Secondly as the head of the treasury/HMRC she should be fully endorsing what the tax office seek to penalise all tax payers for, and that's tax avoidance and the acquisition of cash or any other items of personal benefit during the course of work without paying the due tax. Ie any items of personal nature are treated as a taxable benefit in kind.
It therefore beggars belief that these taxable benefits in kind which are also bribes should be allowed by the government and actively entertained by the chancellor!
Perhaps every tax payer should ignore the taxation and anti bribery regulation in the country then?
There's no room in the prisons as it is so there will be certainly no room for every single tax payer! 🤣
