Leaving Dar

A home video of a relation leaving Dar in 1962. In those days, car loads of friends and relatives would drive to the airport to see someone off. Notice that an EAA staff member is carrying the baby to the plane? Also, the pilot had a neat trick, effectively able to spin or reverse the plane before it headed to the runway he wanted. I loved the Dakota's much better than this aircraft. I loved walking into one and onto its steep aisle and loved watching how the tail wheel lifted off first. If fact, on some weekends, my dad would drive us to the airport just to see planes take off/land.
