Thank you for clarifying!!! Ive had so many issues w toyota locking systems. This helps but I don’t know if ill stay with a Toyota in the future. They have a lot of non user friendly features.
Hi Steve, I have a question about why Toyota has hard time getting a second key done. I have bought a 2024 crown limited in February of this year still waiting on a second key they told me they don’t have the programming for those key fobs, could you highlight something or talk about something why Toyota is having such a hard time appreciate it
Your dealer is not lying to you. This key situation is extremely frustrating and I wish I could share more about it, but I can't. I hope to have more info before the end of this month, but I can't guarantee it.
Thanks for sharing this, I got a rav 4 recently and was searching all over for how to turn on auto lock. I have to disagree with your statement about no Toyotas in the US having auto lock. My last car was a 2006 Toyota Corolla (purchased in Los Angeles at a normal Toyota dealership) and the doors would automatically lock after 2 minutes if all the doors were closed. I loved it because I didn’t have to worry about forgetting if I locked my doors, though I did get my keys locked in the car once or twice because of it.
I have a question about locking: I live in a state that gets snow. I keep my snow brush in the back seat, brush off the snow, put it back and go wherever. I know that when I finish my trip, lock the car and walk away, the car beeps a bunch of times to remind me to check the back seat. But if I walk away and do not open the back door again, is the car still locked? Thanks for your helpful videos!
After owning two MDXs and trading one of them for a Venza, we found out this feature wasn't there. We have owned Toyotas in the past but that's a while back. It's an excellent feature to have but my wife is happy so am I.
I searched this because my Toyota keeps locking itself and freaking me out. I’ve had the car 6 months and this is the first time I’ve stumbled on this feature. …I was checking out my 2nd key fob earlier today.
I read on a reddit forum that dealer can enable the auto lock (walkaway) feature using Techstream, Carly or Carista. Is that true? I don't know what Techstream is.
@@rohitagl nope. I did another video on this and there is no option in Techstream to do it. Techstream is what the technicians use to plug into the car at a Toyota dealer
This is not necessarily true. My 2024 Tacoma locks its own front doors when I leave it alone. It lockes whether the key is in the truck or in my pocket. Funny, but it only locks the front two doors. So I have to crawl in the back door and search for my key in the console. I don't want the truck to ever lock automatically. Anyone have advice?
My fj cruiser will lock its self after a few mins. The key could be on my seat or in my house, but if i left the key in the inigition it won't auto lock
Thank you so much for explaining this!!! I had a Cadillac before and this setting has been driving me nuts.
Well Toyota sucks for not doing that.
Shut up poor
Helpful video. Just got a 2024 Tacoma, previously owned a Honda and was trying to figure out why my Toyota wasn’t auto locking. Welp. lol.
Had a 2018 civic, it was a baseline ex and it had the walk away feature. As compared to my 2024 Tacoma TRD Sport Premium Package which doesn’t🤣🥲
Same, but I came from a Dacia Duster with a flawless keyless system

Yes. The car is still locked. Here's a video I did on the back set reminder: th-cam.com/video/Ly-Gj54P3oA/w-d-xo.html
Thank you for explaining, Steve. I thought there was an issue with my car :P

Grand Highlander has dealer customization Power Back Door 'Walk-Away'
I came here to say this. It has to do with the rear lift gate I believe.

My 2019 Toyota Yaris locked itself when I walked away. I just traded in for a 2024 RAV4 and miss that feature so much 😢

Yeah i got mine on 30 sec
The Toyota tundra with remote engine start but when you approach and open the door the engine will stop.😂
Not exactly true, my toyota rav4 2017 locks itself if left unlocked and parked.
I better lock it cuz i has to press the Botton anywsy
My prius locks itself in about 20 seconds when you get out and walk away with the key
You must be outside the United States. That is not a feature in the US.
@@TrainerSteveClifford ahh forgot about that lol
@@BassxWR I often have to remind myself that Toyota specs and features do have international borders. LOL. Thanks for watching and commenting!
well--so there is a way 2 do it then--just usa doesnt have the codes???
@@PurpleMeowKitty guess so, due to certain laws and regulations
