'The Thrill of the Take' - looking back on 2022

  • The longer you fish the more you come to realise that every season is different and this year was no exception. Long spells of dry warm weather were not conductive to good fishing and certainly not good for the fish, so for much of the season I put the rods aside and enjoyed family time and other pursuits. General consensus of a distinctively average run of Altantic salmon, combined with the weather made for a difficult season. However when we did have periods of rain there was some sport to be had and this season overview charts these all too brief moments.
    As always, for me the 'thrill of the take' are the moments that stick with me.
    I hope you enjoy and tight lines for 2023!

    I'm I seeing this right? you can cast with both hands? 🙌

    • @AndrewMcGall
      @AndrewMcGall  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes I can cast off both shoulders, it’s good to be able to do as it allows you to fish many different ways and places. I just need to keep practicing off my left shoulder 😄🎣👍

    Hi Andrew. Can you please post your favourite fly tiers on TH-cam?

    • @AndrewMcGall
      @AndrewMcGall  ปีที่แล้ว

      Lots of good TH-cam tiers Christiaan, David McPhail and Ryan Houston are two that are well worth checking out, and I also have some on my channel that you may have seen too

      @@AndrewMcGall Ryan Houston sounds local. However can you suggest any other local fly crafters on youtube?

    • @AndrewMcGall

      @@christiaantheron9080 Ryan would have the best selection of local patterns and Davie also has a wide range of patterns and styles including Irish ones 😉🎣👍
