Thank you for the kind words, it was the first time I'd been asked to write an orchestral soundtrack and the first time Paul 'Bob' Arnold and I collaborated, you'll hear these tracks and more in an updated guise sometime later this year.......
OMG I had no idea you commented on this video, thank you so much, yes I have literally lived my whole life obssessed with this game and it's masterpiece of a music score, you and Paul Arnold are absolute geniuses, you's 2 have given me some of the best childhood memories I've ever had and it's an absolute dream come true to see this coming to PS4 completely remastered, so the youth of today can live the adventure themselves that I enjoyed, this game cannot be forgotten it's timeless.
Thank you for all the great memories. Your work in combination with this game never fails to amaze. Only game i haven't stop playing since 2004 until now
The suspense in this game is surreal.. I think few will be in par with the atmosphere of this game.. it just instantly pulls you in Gallowmere! And it's two decades old mind you.. a true underrated classic for true gamers to savor!
Hearing this in my 30´s bring me back so many memories, I remember feeling so sad for Daniel when I was a child, the ending credits song fills me with sadness, happiness, I think Melancholy is the right word, Medi Evil it´s a mixture of a perfect story, perfect game development, perfect orchestral soundtrack, perfect artwork that no remake will ever be able to recreate.
I got this game's first level on a demo CD. Replayed it over and over on my roommate's PS1. Then, I moved back home, and bought my own PS1 specifically so I could have this game. This music would give Danny Elfman goosebumps.
30 years old and still pumping this throughout the year, but especially in October. Still wishing for a remake of medievil 2.. and living in hope of a new game in the series. Sir Dan is nothing without these swelling gothic orchestrals. You have the manic piano of the stained glass demons mausoleum, the sweeping and building chant of the graveyard, the folksy but sinister song of labour in the cornfield, the whimsical strings of the pumpkin patch...the list goes on! Amazingly evocative. Eternal thanks to the composers.
I play Medievil and Medievil2 multiple times a year, and i gotta agree even though the tracks are on loop and only a few mins long, they NEVER get old, personally The Sleeping Village/The Enchanted Earth, and Return To The Graveyard are my two favorite tracks, and even though it's been 23 Years I'm STILL bummed out that we never got a Medievil 3😔
I love how this opening cutscene establishes Sir Dan as this larger than life "Hero" and then during the cutscene where He is being resurrected we see Dan remembering His death 100 Years ago at The Battle Of Gallowmere where He is shot through the left eye by one of Zarok's minions and is literally the first one to die, Hence the reason why King Peregrin concocted this story of Sir Dan killing Zarok and then dying from His injuries in the first place, i think that not only was King Peregrin looking to save face, He wanted the people of Gallowmere to feel safe and have a "Hero" to revere and look up to, He also loved Sir Dan and didn't want Him to be remembered as a failure
Muchas gracias!! Es una maravilla poder rememorar este juego tan bueno y la banda sonora es genial. He jugado muchas veces y no me canso. Un saludo desde España
I play this game every year during October. I could beat it in a single day but I choose to read every book and listen to every gargoyle. It's just a brilliant game.
Hey guys I know I've not made regular uploads in near enough 2 years but I am sooo fucking excited for this remake I could actually cry, like I've been wanting to make a discussion and reaction video so bad but my depression's just been awful and things have been a mess but I'm currently getting help with it. Really hope I can get myself well for when it comes out as this game franchise means the world to me.
Sorry to hear that. I myself battle with some form of depression. D9 you know its origin ? I must admit i d9 not own a ps4 but ... perhaps just for medievil i shall try to get one 🤣🤣
I was at a convention before the remake got released; and they had a little Sony demo booth with the Medievil demo and a big folded-balloon-art Sir Dan and I cried.
Graveyard is such a rhythmic masterpiece, its such a unique sound, like its imitating the shambling process of reanimation. A twitch here, a movement there and then it becomes a fully fledged march. The way it winds back down also makes me think of everything in the graveyard crawling back into their graves.
What I loved most about this games was the soundtrack, the silly sense of humor, and how you could find all kinds of gear to play with! The story was easy to follow and enjoyable too....an overall gem! Thanks for posting....this was a real treat to listen to!
God this game was a fucking masterpiece! Hilltop Mausoleum and Haunted ruins are S tier composed tracks. and Listening to this soundtrack around Halloween bring out so much magic and gets me excited for the holiday!
Love the soundtrack for the scarecrow fields level. It reminds me of the end of the level where you are trying to navigate through all of the farm machinery. Epic!
As a D&D Game Master looking for inspirations, and also a video game player for whom MediEvil is a classic, and thing that inspired me in my early years of discovering popculture - thank you so much for this upload! Now, I just need to throw my players in the center of the ant nest :3
I was seven when I first played this game. I will never forget this game it was my entrance gate into tim burton and other fantasy horror stuff. The reason I choose black for clothing I guess. Thanks Sir Dan :)
The Ant Caves just gave me the heebie-jeebies back then. Everything about it just kept me on edge. That spike at 20:21 even made my dad, who was casually passing by as I was playing, jump slightly! Still manages to make the hairs on the back of my neck stand to this very day. Massive props to Paul Arnold and Andrew Barnabas.
Damn the fast paced symphony orchestra of hilltop mausoleum is second to none! It really leaves no breathing room and no quarter! I love my childhood! Thanks for being in my life!
ooh. I knew about Tim Burton being an inspiration but I never knew about Danny Elfman. :D Thanks for that extra insight. :D Yeah it truly is an amazing score. So nostalgic too.
Well done on uploading this, and for the attention to detail! MediEvil was an absolutely brilliant game. And this soundtrack by Messrs. Barnabas and Arnold was kinda ahead of its time. Well done all round, and long may the Kingdom of Gallowmere live!
Without a doubt one of the most intense, amazing video game sound tracks of all time for an amazing game. I can't believe how well it's aged even on ps1. I think it's grossly overlooked in terms of quality.it has everything you want in a game. One could even say a proto dark souls.
La soundtrack di questo fantastico gioco è davvero eccezionale ma la musica di "THE SLEEPING VILLAGE" che si sente a 21:12 ha qualcosa di epico, struggente, ti toglie il respiro
i love this game and miss it lots i still owe the original black cd on ps1 in french language when i used to live & study in Geneva bough it back in 1998 ! fairly ascratched cd but works still good ! damn soo many memories ! honestly ! this music by my age now well i wass 11 back in 1998 ! now i'm 31 anyways makes me think of magic and sorcery ! spells , rituals and stuff ! will never forget this game ! thanx for the quality upload !
Tarde mas de un año en terminar el juego. Lo termine sin ayuda de informacion de amigos o revistas, que en aquel tiempo eran muy populares.... que maravilloso juego, uno de los mejores que he jugado
I still stand by my opinion the original boss theme will ALWAYS bring chills to me. The new version just doesn’t cut it for me. This theme is what a boss theme is all about.
Anything medieval styled/spooky goes great with this, nostalgic soundtrack. I heard it in a pyrocynical video and I said "Is that medievil?" So I simply had to look for this being the nerd that I am
@@MediEvilFan147 unfortunately they made the remake too much colorful and more similar to fortniteshit and the game lack the original creepynesssss and obscure atmosphere 😮☹️☹️☹️
I've had the song at 5:50 ish playing in my head all day, on repeat, and just a few minutes ago I thought about it - where is this from? Medievil? I haven't played the game in like 18+ years, and I never played it that much that I thought it would randomly play in my head after so long. I'm completely flabbergasted at the human brain!
Such a beautiful soundtrack overall. Call me controversial but I think it's the best on the whole PS1. My favourites being The Crystal Caves, The Haunted Ruins and a tie for third between both Scarecrow Fields and The Enchanted Earth/The Sleeping Village. Honourable mention has to go to The Ant Caves, intimidating factor = 100.
Buassss, la última vez que jugue a medievil tenía 8 años y esta canción la recuerdo perfectamente. Sin duda es un juegazo y ya tengo reservado el medievil de ps4. . Edit: I remember that song !!! The last time that I played medievil I have 8 years old and I still remember that song! I will get medievil ps4 at October 25. I can't with the hype... I Need to play that game now!
This level of OST will never be found in modern games. There are some, but not to this extend. Castlevania: SotN, Legacy of Kain -series.. Well, all undead 'heroes'. PS1 was something else for a reason!
MediEvilFan 147 I still have a video featuring this Game Over track from the Italian version. It's kinda odd that I can't find any other version of the game with that sound, even compared with other PAL ones.
I've searched around a bit and I can't seem to find the History of Gallowmere track without narration as well as the opening cinematic tracks. Seeing as these are extracted straight from the game, I give up my search. Well, looking forward to the remade soundtrack.
Yeah I'm sorry I thought when I extracted the audio it'd provide just the soundtrack without the voice, so I tried using vocal removal on it but the quality didn't sound so good so I just left it as it was.
Para mim, é o melhor jogo que a PlayStation/Sony criou; a jagabilidade, a história e a trilha sonora são incríveis! Quando penso em algum jogo, este está em primeiro lugar.
The Zarok theme has to be one of my favourite pieces in a video game ever made. I don't know if you've ever played it, but I HIGHLY recommend checking out Dark Souls. Fair warning that it can be very daunting and difficult at first, but through strategic gameplay and keeping focused, it is rewarding. The music in the first Dark Souls game contains some of my favourite pieces of all time. Really recommend it, man. Also, I have to apologise, because for some reason I wasn't getting any notifications saying whenever you uploaded a new video, so I genuinely only just saw the MediEvil soundtrack and your latest episode of MediEvil 2 today, a month after it was uploaded. Not only that, but the little bell icon at the top right does tell me when a now video is out, but my subscription list is an absolute clusterfuck, for lack of a better term, so I couldn't find your videos in there at all. Sorry, man! With that being said, I hope you had a good start to the new year, and I hope all goes well this year, my dude! Also loved the new episode of the MediEvil 2 walkthrough, man. Keep 'em coming!
I might give Dark Souls a look, I hear a lot of people talk about it but it's not something I've tried. Is it a bit like Bloodborne because I just could not get in to that game. Aww no worries at all I often don't get notified of a couple of channel's, TH-cam does this thing now where you have to sorta double subscribe it's ridiculous, but really glad you enjoyed my recenty part. I hope to keep up with let's plays soon it's just damn depression mate and anxiety, it's really holding me back, but I hope I can push myself to do another part either tonight or very soon. Aye it's been okay, been a bit down and not as organised as I would have hoped already. Hahaha. Hope you're doing well. :D
I have Bloodborne, but I've not actually played it yet. I was gonna wait until I finished playing Dark Souls 2 before I played it, but gaming has kinda been giving me a headache recently, so I've taken a step back to focus on other things. From what I've heard about Bloodborne, the combat and gameplay is a lot more fast-paced, chaotic, and quick thinking is required. Dark Souls isn't too much like it; I've seen a few Dark Souls TH-camrs (namely EpicNameBro, who did a series called Dark Souls: From The Dark, in which he replayed Dark Souls 1, going through all the tiny bits of lore within the game.) who have done videos on Dark Souls after playing Bloodborne, and they have commented on how slower paced Dark Souls is in comparison to Bloodborne. I will say that you still need to be somewhat quick on your toes, and if you ever wish to get good at parrying, timing is KEY. However, enough rambling from me. I'll leave you to decide if you love the game or not, haha. Yeah, TH-cam's new system is honestly really irritating at times. There have been a few channels that I am subscribed to like your's that haven't popped up in my feed for ages now, and it sucks because it seems as if TH-cam does this for two main reasons: 1) It thinks you're not watching their content a lot anymore. 2) It feels as if they're not releasing content as often. And the latter point is the one which sucks the most, because this allows for some channels to become more popular than others solely based on the fact that TH-cam seems to care about quantity over quality. With this being said, however, I do get notifications for new videos from all of my subscribed channels through the little bell icon at the top right. Only thing is, it's an enormous clusterfuck, since EVERY channel I'm subscribed to appears there, and I am too lazy to dig through to see thew new videos from each individual channel. Partially my fault, haha. Sorry to hear about your depression and anxiety, man. I've never had to deal with it, so I can't offer any advice, sadly, but if it makes you any more optimistic, you have me and 4,026 other people supporting you with your content. I know you don't know us in real life or what not, but we support you, and wish you all the best, man. And i'm sure your family's supporting you as well, my dude! Just take things slowly; don't force yourself to rush content if you feel it isn't ready yet. And yeah, I'm doing okay, man. Feeling a bit shit as of late, to be honest, since I've got a really bad illness. Luckily it's starting to dwindle away, which is always good, and I should be heading back to college tomorrow.
Aww. Nah you might like Bloodborne I just suck at some kinds of games to get in to them. Haha. I might watch other people let's play Dark Souls first before I decide to try it, going in to some kinds of games with absolutely no knowledge of it for a let's play makes me feel kind of stupid to watch. Hahaha. Also yes, TH-cam's not helping matters with me at all, the new comment system is bullshit, luckily I love responding to comments, haha, but I used to be able to reply without having to go on to the video itself giving myself a false view. Haha. but yeah, TH-cam's very money hungry, same old people always getting notice, never shining light on lots of other small channels I love. Aww mate thanks so much, it's actually bi-polar I'm being assessed for, where I go through phases of being manically opimistic and clinically depressed. Hence why I have long hiatuses at times, but I was gobsmacked when I saw how quickly my sub rate's already going up after reaching 4,000 I left a thank you on Twitter, once it's reached 5,000 I'll need to do something Special. If it does of course. Haha. Aww. I love making videos, but it sucks how much real life matters get in my way, that and living under the same roof as other people I need to find a decent quiet time to record. Haha. On my other channel it's not too bad though as I don't have to speak. There's just lots of contents I wanna get done but I take so long to finish just one. OOH! Speaking of which I just finished recording Part 11 of MediEvil 2. :D a bonus video of me Reading the Professors Diary and also a cool glitch I figured out in Whitechapel. I seriously could not thank my viewers enough, they're so humble and understanding, hardly anyone complains and when I put out a video people are always nice or if I explain why I'm inactive people are always understanding. Even people like yourself I just love having a nice down to earth conversation with. I get the odd troll and that, but they're so rare in comparison to all the nice people I meet, you're gonna get bad people everywhere. Also I'm really sorry to hear you're going through troubles tooo, hope you keep on mending up. Also oh cool what do you study? :D I actually dropped out of college after a few years on mental health grounds.
If you do decide to watch some people play Dark Souls, I recommend EpicNameBro (his From the Dark series is ESPECIALLY helpful; it will detail every little thing about the game, plus a few little extras people can miss). There may be a few other people that are really good as well to watch, but I can't think of them off the top of my head. If you're looking for videos that help you with how to kill the bosses easily, while ENB is still good for that, Silver Mont is another dude who's very good at detailing specific tactics in killing every boss in the game. Fair warning that the equipment he uses in his videos to show how he kills the bosses is the same in each video, but if you decide to use different equipment, the strategies against the bosses (such as where to be when they're attacking you) are pretty much the same. Also, don't worry about feeling a little bit stupid at first when playing the game, everyone does on a bit of a blind run, but even on a co-ordinated run you can still slip up. If need be, there is co-op in the game, and if you do need help at any point in the game, I could try and help, if you need it, man! Yeah, TH-cam definitely does need to fix its shit, to be brutally honest. It's a system which once proclaimed that you could "Broadcast Yourself", but it's hard to do that when sub counts sometimes get stagnated and view counts per videos also somewhat decrease. Hell, even Caddicarus, a guy with over 500,000 subs, has been stuck at 500,000+ for the past few months now, and it sucks, because he does seem like a guy who would reach 1,000,000 soon, like JonTron. I really don't know the in-depths behind the TH-cam algorithms and what-not, but it really can be daunting for people who have ambitions of making a TH-cam channel or videos, since it might seem as if they have little to no chance of success. Enough pessimism, though. Hate to bring the vibe down, haha. I've heard a bit about bi-polar disorder; really sorry you have to deal with that, man. I can completely understand if that's the reasons behind your long hiatuses. Plus, in a way the long wait is good for the suspense of what's to come next from your channel. I actually completely forgot you had Twitter, man. I'll need to follow you on there. I honestly use it for complete shitposting and the meme game that occurs on the great land of the Internet, haha. Yeah, I can honestly imagine how real life can impede with content creation; I've wanted to get into the TH-cam game myself, but I've been meddling over what to create and when to actually create it. It will come with time, I'm sure. Also, I actually just got up not that long ago to see three new videos from your channel. Like finding gold, haha! I'll be giving them a watch shortly after writing this comment/short novel. I'm glad you've managed to get viewers like that, my dude. Most viewers are pretty accommodating towards content creators, since they can understand the real life issues they might have to deal with first. And yeah, man, I quite like having in-depth conversations with you. Quite interesting stuff, plus it makes the maker of the channel have a more deeper connection with their fans/subscribers. Trolls do get a bit irritating, but that is a thing of the Internet, unfortunately. Don't worry too much about them. Ah, don't worry too much about me; I'm getting better one day at a time, haha. Yeah, man, I study at college currently; I'm doing NC Sound Production, so getting into the details behind sound, how microphones work, professional recording, mixing and mastering, etc. Always really been engrossed in music, so having the ability to record my own material (once and if I ever get to writing anything) is always good! Sorry to hear about you having to leave college. What was it you were studying before you left? Also, I have to add that the Game Over theme was a nice little addition in the first game that the second game should have had in my opinion. It was chirpy and quirky, in theme with the game itself, but gloomy enough to actually show that the player done goofed up and had to restart.
Thank you for the kind words, it was the first time I'd been asked to write an orchestral soundtrack and the first time Paul 'Bob' Arnold and I collaborated, you'll hear these tracks and more in an updated guise sometime later this year.......
I hope the updated version of your awesome soundtrack stays more true to the original than the visuals of the remake so far :)

Tarde mas de un año en terminar el juego. Lo termine sin ayuda de informacion de amigos o revistas, que en aquel tiempo eran muy populares.... que maravilloso juego, uno de los mejores que he jugado
A flood of memories from my childhood... thank you
1st of all, the original Medievil is my favorite game from the 20th century, and 2nd of all, how have I never seen this video before?
I still stand by my opinion the original boss theme will ALWAYS bring chills to me. The new version just doesn’t cut it for me. This theme is what a boss theme is all about.
This soundtrack will always be the greatest of all time for me.
Anything medieval styled/spooky goes great with this, nostalgic soundtrack. I heard it in a pyrocynical video and I said "Is that medievil?" So I simply had to look for this being the nerd that I am
You made me feel happy and i can't wait for the ps4 remake 💘😍🐉❄️🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥💞
😊
I'm so hyped beyond belief :D Haha.
@@MediEvilFan147 unfortunately they made the remake too much colorful and more similar to fortniteshit and the game lack the original creepynesssss and obscure atmosphere 😮☹️☹️☹️
unforgettable!!!! thank you!!!
You're very welcome. :)
Ending credits is the best thing you hear ever after completing this adventure.
45:41 Heavenly
45:53 Ominous
46:05 Certain doom
46:35 Terrible danger
46:53 Enemy up ahead!
Too bad I couldn't find them in the search list.
6:17 perhaps the greatest song in this game
4:07
Buassss, la última vez que jugue a medievil tenía 8 años y esta canción la recuerdo perfectamente. Sin duda es un juegazo y ya tengo reservado el medievil de ps4.
.
Edit: I remember that song !!! The last time that I played medievil I have 8 years old and I still remember that song! I will get medievil ps4 at October 25. I can't with the hype... I Need to play that game now!
Love the OST but i am completely curious how did you extracted it with that high quality! Wow.
As músicas desse jogo é boa
This level of OST will never be found in modern games. There are some, but not to this extend. Castlevania: SotN, Legacy of Kain -series.. Well, all undead 'heroes'. PS1 was something else for a reason!
46:10 This one is used as Game Over soundtrack in my version of MediEvil :D
IT IS? :O OMG I never knew that difference.
MediEvilFan 147
I still have a video featuring this Game Over track from the Italian version. It's kinda odd that I can't find any other version of the game with that sound, even compared with other PAL ones.
Thank you 😍😍😍😍
this game used to scare me but i loved it. i feel like i am daniel fortisque
Saaame, and yeah the original was much darker than the remake.
Too much memories💘😭
I've searched around a bit and I can't seem to find the History of Gallowmere track without narration as well as the opening cinematic tracks.
Seeing as these are extracted straight from the game, I give up my search.
Well, looking forward to the remade soundtrack.
Yeah I'm sorry I thought when I extracted the audio it'd provide just the soundtrack without the voice, so I tried using vocal removal on it but the quality didn't sound so good so I just left it as it was.
QUE RECUERDOS
This gives me so many emotion's
This is so nostalgic
Para mim, é o melhor jogo que a PlayStation/Sony criou; a jagabilidade, a história e a trilha sonora são incríveis! Quando penso em algum jogo, este está em primeiro lugar.
Still love this game and soundtrack💀👍
Pure fucking nostalgia, the most creative game in fucking existence
Amen to that my friend. :) May have been a year late replying but very much still agree to this :D
@@MediEvilFan147 :)
Beautiful
i like that sound beginning at 6:17 the most.
0 dislikes, lets keep it that way.
You jinxed man...( or woman)
Dislikes your comment, just to be an ass lol
This would make a great addition to my Ravenloft campaign
Bellísimo juego muy infravalorado y ninguneado en Mi opinión!. El soundtrack es bestial!. Marco mi infancia!!.
The Graveyard music i remember the most
The Zarok theme has to be one of my favourite pieces in a video game ever made.
There have been a few channels that I am subscribed to like your's that haven't popped up in my feed for ages now, and it sucks because it seems as if TH-cam does this for two main reasons:
1) It thinks you're not watching their content a lot anymore.
Ooh I never gave my favourites from the game. My Favourite Tracks are Sleeping Village and The Asylum grounds. :)
It was chirpy and quirky, in theme with the game itself, but gloomy enough to actually show that the player done goofed up and had to restart.
i could tell this was a good game i played it on a ps1 demo that came with my ps1
USIING THIS FOR HALLWEEN SOUNDTRACK!
