Nostalgia's hitting me hard with this one. I used to watch my dad play this when I was 7 years old. He'd stay up till the early hours playing it (he was stuck on the fire pillars for a very long time) and sometimes he'd let me stay up with him. This didn't make mum too happy when she found out so she soon put an end to that. Then, one night around 2am, I slept walked from my bed to the sofa behind where my dad was playing with my eyes wide open and scared the crap out of him when he turned around. I miss you dad. Tomb Raider 1's theme tune will always remind me of you.
It's good you had good memories of your dad with the game. Anything that keeps us together as family like this is good. This soundtrack will last a lot more lifetimes I'm very sure. Simply enchanting. Hope it brings peace to more people 🙂❤

I was 25 when I first played Tomb Raider. Today, I'm 53 and I'm diving back into it. This game has captivated me forever. This music is timeless and unique.
@@Lazar_STS True, the last game I liked in the Core years was the Last Revelation. I tried the new serie (after 2012 or 2013) but for me it is not Tomb Raider anymore (sorry if I made mistakes, i am learning english).
@@Lazar_STS I remember the level in Japan with Lara on the roofs. Good memories. The spirit of Lara was still there even if it was the first remaster and I prefered the classics but there was still a soul. I don't know how to explain better.
i just found out that the composer of tomb raider nathan mcree only had 4 weeks to come up with the soundtrack to tomb raider (with also barely any info given to him about the game). he did it all on a synthesizer. the man is a bloody genius in my book. one of the best theme tunes ever (and great in game music too).
Now that's a pro who knows what he's doing. We all thank him for his dedication and focused work over what I find to be in incredibly short amount of time considering the quality and longevity of the work. All of these people are truly legends and I hope they know it, despite Core Design sort of jerking them around after TR became a success.
Just finished the first game the other day and I only agree, the moments where the music kicks in are purely magical, even in 2022, as well having been raised on Legend onwards, the sense of wonder and curiosity is unbeatable, even with modern graphics, just trying to discern what "used to be" in those levels is super cool.
The levels were vast, the exploration was real, the mystery was around every corner and the music coming on at selected spots elevated that game to perfection.. The new ones have none of that...just quicktime action crap..
The music is honestly timeless, and I do think it's more epic than TR3 and probably all after. It's all fun and games until Egypt, and then it gets evil real fast. But TR2 is impossible to beat imo, it's waayyy too satisfying to kill thugs and Lara and the enemies like big cats aren't a triangle. Ski Do music is epic, and it has a mythical Dragon, great whites, yetis, more T Rex, and LESS of those fucking mutant alien cat shreiking mummy asswipes that knock you into the lava. I mean TR2 has creepy stuff too, like bullet sponge statues, boulders everywhere, Giant Spiders protecting the Godzilla killer's eggsack, and of course the black evil super eel. Pick your poison I guess. At least you can lock Winston in tue freezer and see Lara about to shower. She's only a flirt with Larson and in the commercials I guess.
Wow, Nathan Mccree is a musical genius. The T-Rex music still gives me goosebumps to this day! He is one of my inspirations when I make music. The whole OST has so much depth; a bittersweet meloncholic feel, with a mix of mystery, adventure, and intrigue. Masterpiece!
This was such a great time to be a young gamer. Very bitter-sweet memories looking back on this period of my life playing Tomb Raider for the first time.
This was the best time to be a young gamer. The beginning of 3D games era, each month new title doing something the first time... Very romantic and pristine time to be a kid...
Normally I am not a game player, but this theme is the one I can never forget. I had the game cd maybe twenty years ago and played the sound track then the melody stayed in my heart for so many years till now, I got it again. A beautiful memory...
The first sound it’s take me to the past with gold moments, that’s I never forgotten, and I remember my brother when he played the first part of Tomp Rider 🥺🤍🤍
Track 6. Longing For Home - for me is arguably better than the main theme. But it's so damn short, however if any longer would probably lose some magic. ..Sidenote: Works better when it plays in Sanctuary of Scion than when it's first introduced to us in Palace Midas I feel.... don't know why - maybe because Sanctuary Of Scion just feels so desolate. At least you had friendly ape creatures in the Palace ;-)
Now that i'm thinking about how weirdly some of these tracks were placed, i think its because the devs didn't wanted to give an atmosphere to places straight away, rather than give to the player some of lara's gut feelings, without any inner monologue. Feelings like wonder, curiosity and fear are shown through music and not through words
Whats crazy is that most of you were quite young when the trilogy came out and it had a big effect on you with the soundtrack and the immerse game play, well i was 26 years old when i came across the game, much older than most but im telling you this soundtrack had the same effect on me, it just moves me to this day, what an incredible accomplishment by its creator to be able to reach so many gamers regardless of age or playing ability. Oh to have been there making this game and being a part of a legendary creation in the 90's. Alas, I was only 4 when it released in 1996, which means I was 2 when development began in 1994. But I would've been right alongside those guys helping make this if I could.
Amazing game of which the music enhanced it further Track 8 the T Rex had me back in it and running for my life again. The St Francis folly was also a wonderful bit of the game. Wonderful stuff.
This game as so mysterious and ominous. I would play it in my sisters room on her ps1. Those were great days. Just exploring the 3D world felt so weird

The soundtrack to this game really inspired me after playing this game on my step brother's playstation!
Before the days of high definition gaming, development teams had to use more imagination in bringing the games to life through the soundtrack, game plots which really came through. Unlike today , larger teams overworked and the magic is just lost
Oh to have been there making this game and being a part of a legendary creation in the 90's. Alas, I was only 4 when it released in 1996, which means I was 2 when development began in 1994. But I would've been right alongside those guys helping make this if I could.
AMAZING THANK YOU ❤
Thank you for this awesome soundtrack 🙏
Amazing game of which the music enhanced it further Track 8 the T Rex had me back in it and running for my life again. The St Francis folly was also a wonderful bit of the game. Wonderful stuff.
Makes me wanna cry
Tomb raider will always be my favourite game followed closely by road to hill 30.
The 1st piece is a classic. I remember playing this game with my buddies when it came out. The music struck me as simple but revolutionary.
Best on TH-cam 👍 (World)
This game as so mysterious and ominous. I would play it in my sisters room on her ps1. Those were great days. Just exploring the 3D world felt so weird
Just listening to the music brings back so many memories
