I thought that I knew how to set up crow, having done that previously, but after an hour or so on a new plane with the ailerons going down when the Flaps were up, and also checking my previous mix, swopping a flap servo reverser; I came back and re-watched your video. Sorted in 15 mins. It was the second column that needed a negative value. So thanks very much for clear and concise explanation of crow.
Congratulations. This is a relatively complex setup but in this video you've taken us through the setup process one easy to follow step at a time. Very well done. I have four pages of notes on it. And it works. You didn't miss anything covering potential problems and i works as you said i would. And your final caution is most important. 10 Stars.
I had the dx18, but never considered crow on anything but gliders. I will try this on my cubs. I don't know of any full scale aircraft that use crow, of course they have spoilers, but those aren't exactly the same. Do you know of any? Thank you for all your videos! They are very helpful!
I just tried setting up crow in my OMP Bushmaster. I have a 8 channel Spektrum AR8360T RX. I created the mix. I have FLP-LAL . Rate : 30% in the first box. Switch E . This was the only way I can get crow to work correctly. But crow comes on in landing flaps and take off flaps. I am not sure how to get it just in landing flaps setting.
Someone asked if Thintz12 is a Mode 1 flyer. Looking at his transmitter you will note that the right stick is always down (see 6:15 for example) while the left stick is at neutral or center position. In Mode 1 ailerons and throttle on right stick, rudder and elevator on left stick. Thus, right stick throttle position is down or off. Agree?
Nope, You choose the appropriate wing type when setting up the ACRO model. That allows for one channel for both ailerons or one servo per aileron, same for the flaps.
@@flyingrcdotnet Thanks for the reply. I have the NX6 and i can only set 2 alirons and 2 flaps on sailplanes only. I can’t set 2 alirons and 2 flaps on an acro. Can you tell me some steps on how to get it? Thanks so much!
He said you can do it with flaps on a Y. You can't do it on yours because you only have 6 channels, ok on sailplane because you don't need a channel for the motor. I have similar problem trying to get full span ailerons with flaps whilst retaining usable flaps, I don't have enough channels - need 4 channels just for the wing

Sorry, I haven't seen a NX radio or this bit of programming that seems kind of backwards. I would get in touch with Horizon support. They have good people working those lines and would know the most about this new radio and its capabilities.
If you are taking suggestions for a video an in depth exploration of the Flex Aura gyro would be high on my list. I've looked around the internet and found nothing other than the short overview vids by Mr. Ribbe. That device becomes a mysterious object (to me) once you get beyond the basics.
I think we will be doing a stand alone look at the Aura. So far it looks like a really nice unit but I want to get the plane trimmed out as god as I can before adding the mix.
If you are setting up crow on a bi wing (4 ailerons) do you do it the same way? Do you assume the lower ailerons are flaps and follow the directions in this video? Or is there another way?
I've never set up Crow in a bi plane but those I have seen always used the lower ailerons as flaps when Crow is turned on. I can;t imagine it working any other way really.
This is the best description of setting up crow. Just straight to the point with no fluff. Thanks. Red

After many hours searching the net for crow set up. yours is the best by far good job fella!!
Wow !! Great video. This really helped me set a separate switch for crow and still have takeoff flaps and landing flaps (different switch) Thank you

Thank you, thank you, Thank you for making this explanation so simple!!
Thanks a lot! Now I'm going to crow it! 😃👍🏻
And keep the great videos coming! Br/Rick from Sweden.
Hi and tanks for this most didactic video. Complex at first thaught, quite easy after your HowTo. Most appreciated! Lasse
Thanks for this!! Gonna use Crow flaps on my Carbon Cub SS 2.1m plane with my DX18.

Very helpful for me with my new NX10, same process. Thanks.

Great video! Even a dotard like me can understand how to get crow to work. Thanks.

Nope, have never flown Mode 1. Perhaps it is just the angle of the camera or something. I've never had a Mode 1 radio.
Are you a mode 1flyer and I was wondering if you can use ailerons as flaps on any plane
I don't even know a Mode 1 flyer and I have not tried using ailerons as flaps.
thintz12 mode 1 flyer is were the throttle and elevator is on the right stick and the rudder and ailerons are on the left stick
I know what mode 1 is, just nobody that flies that way
thintz12 I was just wondering because of the stick configuration on the dx18
Also I really enjoy your videos very helpful even for a season veteran rc flyer like me
Many thanks!!
In order to get 2 alirons and 2 flaps, does the plane type have to be sailplane? Thanks.

Thanks for this video... What aileron and flap settings do you suggest for the first setup?
I'd start with the throws listed in the planes manual and go from there once yo get some experience.

Which radio do you use?
The 9 or the 18?
I use the DX9 but the DX18 works as well, maybe others too.
