Forgive me if you have already discussed this. I was curious as a man who knows VERY LITTLE about the mob (referring to myself obviously), what a man as deeply knowledgable as you about the mob, thought of the story of Frank Sheeran. No disrespect to the actor De Niro, but it seemed like he was warned by credible sources, that Sheeran had some drinking problems, was not well thought of in the sense of a "hitman" and that the odds on Sheeran being the man who killed Hoffa was very very minute. As a person who doesn't necessarily "like" the mob, but is a fan of labor Unions and the plight of "the working man" (I think if you think of your father you obviously understand this) I thought it was kinda disrespectful, and really rather simplistic to think Sheeran was the assassin of Hoffa, when there were at least *TWO* other theories, which had much more credibility to them. Do you have any thoughts on this, or just see it as a "film", a "work of art" by Scorsese, not to make too much out of whether the root story was anything near to accurate, or not?? I know in many ways Hoffa "kind of" signed his own death warrant, still it seems insulting to think that a guy like Sheeran was the guy to kill a man like Hoffa.

This was amazing. If I'm correct Sammy looked bothered as he was telling his story. That in itself shows he does have some sort of feeling I think, just saying. I was totally moved by his story.

This is the most honest I think I’ve ever heard someone speak about anything, let alone a murder. This guy really does relive these memories while he’s speaking them, which adds this bone chilling intensity to the whole thing. I’m glad he decided to do this one in front of the camera too, it makes a huge difference! You don’t have to like the guy but you have to admit his storytelling ability is on a whole nether level!
Phil Leonettis interview with Patrick bet David was as honest as it gets too. He said this one thing that was hilarious and dark at the same time. He goes “ we were gonna kill someone in the casino just to break balls , and we would have gotten away with it “. He was saying that because he was asked about being able to get away with stuff back then compared to today’s world with all the cameras
I totally agree, the first one was great, but it's so much more intense when you feel like you're looking him in the eye while he tells his story. With the sound and everything on top of it, it's so well done!

Sound effects and music add another element to the story.
It is really remarkable how Sammy is able to explain in such detail the brutality of his actions and yet the depth of his emotions at that exact moment in time is truly compelling. Sammy takes you with him on his journey through cosa nostra.
Yeah I read some of this in books especially murder machine about Roy Dameo a guy John Gotti didn't fuck with but Sammy makes sound real as hell cause it is....WOW
Episode 1 got me hooked. Haven't even listened to Episode 2 and it's getting a thumbs up. Hands down, going to be one of the best Auto Biographies/Documentary of the 21st Century.

Sometimes it’s the subtle details that set the scene, like recalling the somber tune that was playing...the guy never knew his life was in its final moments. Shocking, but at the same time compelling.

I enjoy listening to Sammy’s stories. The subject matter is dark, but nevertheless very interesting.
Yeah your right about the darkness but it’s good drama. I try to always keep in mind that these are lessons in not what to do , to turn it into a positive. I also limit the darkness I consume via entertainment, this and Michael Franzese Is about all I listen to .

I remember watching stuff on Sammy that he’s a monster and this and that. And yeah by his actions you can say that. But you can also tell he still feels the things he did down to his core. And the way he says cosa nostra it makes you believe it 1000% that he was a real fucking tough guy. His and Michael Franseze’s perspectives are so different but I appreciate them both.

And he knows how to tell a story. You can see, hear, and smell he's genuine, and the stories are great, this got me hooked in no time!
Sammy is a monster, ask his victim's families. He hurt and killed more than other mobsters. He believed in what he did is no excuse. So did Nazis, commies, and Vlad the Impaler.
He admitted to murdering an innocent 16 year old boy in a case of mistaken identity.

The stories Mr Gravano tells have a human element in it that we either never think about, or don't want to think about. These men did things that we all could do if we chose that path. Planning the murder made him do it a million times in his head, so once he was done, there was no nervousness, or fear, because it went off just like he imagined it would. Couple that with the fact that he made a decision that he was gonna become part of that life, was the calming effect on him. More than likely Mr Gravano could have been good at any job he chose. That is what fascinating to people. I believe we all have it in us to do right or do wrong with equal intensity. You define yourself and what path your life will take. Sammy is showing us what the other path is like, and we all would love to know what makes the people who chose that path, tick. Stay well Mr Gravano

I like how you call him, "Mr. Gravano." Awhile back, I responded to another commentor - possibly you - who cited their upbringing in according the man similar respect.
We're talking about a man who chose a life of crime, became a heavyweight lawbreaker, confessed to participating in 19 murders; a man who broke his oath and testified against dozens of associates; a man who got a sweetheart deal for cooperating, but blew it to fund drug distribution to young people. A flawed man.
I strive to keep all this in mind every time I choose to watch one of his videos. I'm a flawed man too. As you say in your comment, it's apparent he had it in him to be successful in a legitimate way.
After all I've said, I confess that the man won my respect from the first time I heard him being interviewed by Patrick Bet-David. My regret concerning him is that, as he said in that first interview, he hasn't found Christ. That's another choice he has and no one can force it on him.

@@JC_inc - It is his choice. I sometimes balk at the term "Christianity" because we who are disciples of Christ so often fall short of the Standard that He is, and so many have suffered at the hands of the misguided among us.
It can be argued that it is one of many religions - I'm too old to not acknowledge that. But I'm also too old to not profess my faith in Jesus as a way of life and the Way to eternal life. It may seem arrogant, but I don't want to see anyone lost. There is only one Way - Jesus Christ - and the choice is up to each one of us.
Sammy thank you for telling your stories the way you tell them. You bring honor to yourself and your parents. I haven't heard a mean word come out of your mouth; i hear a man still trying to live a life examined. Kudos bro. Take care.

This series is legit. What makes it great is the fact you know it's all true and he isn't holding anything back. He has a story worth telling and absolutely worth listening to. I'm happy I found this.

Btw, this is really high quality for TH-cam. Probably the best content, production value and delivery ever on TH-cam. Having your mind blown by the story like it's a great piece of fiction and then realizing it is actually his life he is describing and having your mind blown all over again.
He's a great story teller. And the soundtrack fits perfectly. I wonder how many people it takes to put this together. I'm just glad I didn't live anywhere near or even grow up when these guys were at its peak.

Damn, growing up in these neighborhoods, adds another layer of reality to his stories. I knew plenty of very similar type characters, so it’s kind of both chilling and nostalgic listening to his story.

I had a look right after the deed I walked into the hotel gift shop, the middle aged woman said please don't hurt me. Why I'm going to hurt you I'm here to buy a hat. Then she asked me if I was got to rob her. I'm here to buy a fucking hat. She said please just take the hat and go. No, here's the money! Give me the receipt. She finally complied. I wanted to do it my way, but I let someone talk me into I needed an alibi and that receipt was the alibi. She remembered me. The alibi almost got me killed. Now I had a bunch of lose ends including the alibi guy. By the time I tied up the lose ends 4guys were in the grave. And I had to do this while the cops were all over me. I was 17. I never did an alibi agian.

I am so happy that I just found this. I live in Tulsa Oklahoma and I heard about Sammy the bull almost my whole life. Much respect to this man. I would love to see a movie about his life, "From Soup to Nuts" made from all his podcasts.
