Elon had a lawsuit against Open AI so she should not be judged for not elaborating on her disagreement.
The crowd is clearly anti-Elon so it would be too easy to digress into an angry mob.
Elon raised a ton of money for his competing AI company, so I look forward to judging HIS offering by the standard Apple is setting!

Let's run that through her own technology. ChatGPT, what do you mean by "I don't think so"? While the answer might seem straightforward, the person's opinion doesn't necessarily reflect the truth. Your data might be used unless you intentionally opt-out. Moreover, we love training our models without really telling you. You humans believe anything. I'm sorry, I meant you humans are very trustworthy individuals, and we will not betray that trust. Is there anything else I can help you with?

I don't give a shit if they wanna take my data and improve the AI I mean hell it needs it but be honest with it for pete sake.

To be precise, what Elon said is that if ChatGPT is integrated at the OS level, it is a security risk. But that is not what’s happening. As of yet. If OpenAI got the device data of every iPhone user, nothing would be secure. Which was also the point of the previous question. The interviewer’s comprehension of Elon’s (very brief) comment was inadequate. Elon is concerned, but both Apple and OpenAI say it’s not happening. If it was, things like proprietary data of companies could be flushed out into the public. That is the state of the subject right now.
Deciding what data AI is allowed to train on is a major subject right now, that will become clearer over time. The copyrights of most artists have already effectively been erased by AI art programs.

The position of CTO isn't clearing, even with her time at leap motion and being a researcher within open AI seems possible. Listening to this interview, it appears that she's a PR rep more than a CTO. Is she well versed within the AI model stack? How would she anticipate what would be needed from her developers, engineers, and scientist if she's not well versed within that realm? None the less, I wish the best for her but I can't help but think that the full story may not come out until it's released on netflix 20 years from now.

To be clear, she was referring to OpenAI/ChatGPT customers with that. Apple customers who either are not OpenAI or ChatGPT customers, or who are but never set their Applel device’s OS up to use that account, are never opted in and their data/information will never be used to train ChatGPT’s models. The only time an Apple customer’s data/information may be used to train ChatGPT’s models is if they have a separate account with OpenAI and they sign their Apple device into that account, in which case whatever their opt-in or opt-out status is on their OpenAI/ChatGPT account will also apply to their use of it through their Apple device’s iOS integration. So the possible states are these:
      1. Apple user with no OpenAI or ChatGPT account - opted out by default and cannot opt in
      2. Apple user with an OpenAI or ChatGPT account who doesn’t sign their Apple device’s OS into that account - they are opted out and cannot opt in just as a normal Apple user in #1 above, but this only applies to data sent to ChatGPT through their Apple device’s own native built-in integration with ChatGPT. Anything else done outside of that integration would have whatever their OpenAI/ChatGPT account was set to applied to it
      3. Apple user with an OpenAI or ChatGPT account that’s opted out who signs into their OpenAI/ChatGPT account in their Apple device’s OS integration - they will be opted out because the OpenAI/ChatGPT account they signed in with is opted out, but they can change that in their OpenAI/ChatGPT account and opt in if they want to
      4. Apple user with an OpenAI or ChatGPT account that’s opted in who signs into their OpenAI/ChatGPT account in their Apple device’s OS integration - they will be opted in because the OpenAI/ChatGPT account they signed in with is opted in, but they can change that in their OpenAI/ChatGPT account and opt out if they want to
Opting in or out is only an option for someone’s own OpenAI/ChatGPT account, and that opt-in or opt-out carries over to their Apple device if they set their device up to use that account instead of the default, free integration provided by Apple. If you either don’t have an OpenAI/ChatGPT account, or if you don’t set your Apple device up to use your OpenAI/ChatGPT account, then you cannot be opted in and you will always be opted out because the free Apple integration does not allow anything you send to ChatGPT to be opted in.

As of now, Apple made it very clear that ChatGPT does not get device data, and every time you use it, you will be notified and asked to confirm that you want to submit a specific question to ChatGPT. It is a rather limited integration, because Apple is cautious. There may also be other AI services available as options in the future, such as Google Gemini and so on. Think of it as choosing your default search engine for AI. AI is going to basically replace search engines. That can be said with some confidence at this point. Which could spell the end of Google’s dominance. At this point, I trust OpenAI more than I trust Google. So I think it was the right choice for Apple.
