I have no idea why Joey is so obsessed with the 'mystery' aspect of Erased when it is clearly not the most important part of the show (even compared it with Higurashi and Umineko lol). The show emphasizes so much more than that to be considered.
Suffering is a reaction, not something that is done _to_ you. By and large, guts doesn't let the shit he's been through mess him up. Sure be cracks sometimes, but overall he handles it better than most.
Guts was constantly cracking, the reason he was such an a-hole in the beginning of the manga is because he didn't want anyone close anymore, afraid he'd lose them, he just strong enough that he keeps going. That's just how I see it.
Mushoku tensei is a perfect example of how you do an isekai anime . Unlike your average isekai the previous life of the protag actually matters. You can make other Isekais into fantasy adventure shows and it changes nothing but with mushoku tensei you cant do that . ( I know their is a lot of weird stuff in the show and if that makes you not wanna watch then fair enough but if you can ignore that then the show is amazing )
I used to take Mushoku Tensei as peak until I read The Beginning after the End(TBATE). Read that once, you will surprising find MT to be utterly mediocre.
0:37 few seconds earlier, I was looking away from phone, because my family member called me. When I looked on phone and saw this, I thought My phone got screen burn for a second and I almost shit in my pants💀💀💀💀💀
I second that Oreimo opinion. I went in blind on my first viewing, I had been out of loop with the anime community for about 4 years and it was on a free streaming device so I popped it on. I was so mad when it took that turn, I really liked the story it was telling until it went into incest territory
I argue when you go far back enough it is another word. If you are sent to 10th century England it would be totally different from current England. Not to say you will understand nothing what's people talking about as Old English is unintelligible without learning it. Or if you are sent into 30th century, same thing. Technology, culture even languages will change so much it would feel otherworldly.
@@oleksandrbyelyenko435 yes you are right but the charters could go back and forth in time freely and sometimes something would attack them in the prescient but that is just my opinion personally that is way i say it is not an isekai, but if the main charter was tarped there and frosted to learn a new language i would agree with you 100%.
Meliodas is a creepy guy but I love Bryce Papenbrook so I'm always conflicted. The bit where he had to keep reliving Elizabeth dying over and over again was actually very well done. I want an anime where the three main characters are Eren, Meliodas and Inosuke. Bryceathon.
I've watched Erased twice and am pretty sure that there was no actual "obvious hint" (I've heard you mention the scene specifically and am pretty sure such a scene does not exist in the anime - maybe it exists in the manga but I am pretty sure it does not exist in the anime). Some day I'll watch it for a third time and will find out if I am right about this but for now I disagree with your strict verdict for Erased.
@@androognoix1685 Valid point. But I still disagree with his strict negative verdict - he is basically dissuading people from watching an otherwise great show.
Mazinger Z falls more into the fun side of Mecha, with pure evil villans, and the main focus is on the fighting, think Gundam build fighters. I believe it was Gundam who introduced the political intruge we see in so many mecha anime. The mecha genre did pretty much start with Mazinger Z and Astro Boy technically, but Gundam is the godfather of it's own side of the mecha genre
ปีที่แล้ว
Mazinger Z falls into the Super Robot side of mecha while Gundam falls into the realistic side of mecha, that's the main difference AFAIC and that's what I consider Gundam to be the godfather of.
While Mazinger is indeed on the Superrobot side it of mecha it did still innovate the concept that mecha needed a pilot getting into it's cockpit to control it. Before that there where only Astro Boy or Robots that where remote controlled. Gundam on the other hand is in the truest sense a mecha deconstruction of Mazinger and Superrobot genre and Gundam and somewhat with help of Space Battleship Yamato(i know it's not a mecha but it also help with groundwork towards a more militaristic/realism approach) godfathered what is known as realrobot with it's more militaristic/realistic and political approach.
I’ve found out so much about these shows & games through your videos. My daughter started reading manga & watching anime at a very young age. And in my later years, I have favorite story lines & characters; I’m a writer of mainly historical fiction. I appreciate great stories no matter the medium. Inyuyasha, FMA, Fruits Basket, Bleach, the Final Fantasy series. The historical based ones top my list like Rurouni Kenshin.
I hard disagree with the mystery one. The BBC Sherlock show was RUINED because there were no hints, no actual detective work. Sherlock just said, “Here’s what happened”. The best mystery stories are when the characters and the viewers learn at the same time. Pulling plot twists out of your butt is the sign of a writer not knowing how to write a good mystery.
Joey couldn't be any more wrong about his take on modern Isekai anime. To say that light novels Isekai anime adaptations aren't being watched and are for a niche audience is so out of touch. There's a reason they keep adapting them it's because it makes a lot of money and alot of people watch it. I remember watching some show called black summoner on a website and was surprised to see it has millions of views. Simply because it's a Isekai it has millions of views.
Nah FFVII has better characters and combat than FFVI. FFV also has an awesome job system, and I would argue that it is the true FF fan pick. Final Fantasy VI is the SNES fanboy pick, even if the Super Nintendo is an overrated console.

Also, 2024 is going to be a great year of mecha fan; new Gundam Seed, Grendizer, Bang Bravern, Metallic Rouge. Even Wataru will get new TV series.
is metalic rouge considered mecha when they arent actually in mechs?
Metallic Rouge isn't really mecha
Mecha musume is a thing, guys.
I missed this so much.
I have no idea why Joey is so obsessed with the 'mystery' aspect of Erased when it is clearly not the most important part of the show (even compared it with Higurashi and Umineko lol). The show emphasizes so much more than that to be considered.
I’m the commenter. I somewhat agree
joey you need to make a video about underrated mangas
Suffering is a reaction, not something that is done _to_ you.
By and large, guts doesn't let the shit he's been through mess him up. Sure be cracks sometimes, but overall he handles it better than most.
Guts was constantly cracking, the reason he was such an a-hole in the beginning of the manga is because he didn't want anyone close anymore, afraid he'd lose them, he just strong enough that he keeps going. That's just how I see it.
Subaru on the other hand...
Glad to see lets fight back, it is a really enjoyable watch and i look forward to more
Bruh, Guts didn't just suffer because Casca was r***d; HE was also r***d as a child
Thank you for this, Joey.
Tetsujin No. 28 is the godfather of mecha anime.
I could only remember the 28 part
Agreed, though if you're talkin manga, there are things even earlier than Tetsujin 28.
no waaaaaaaay you brought this legendary series back
Mushoku tensei is a perfect example of how you do an isekai anime .
@@arpan9937 Quite the opposite for me.
@@arpan9937 tbate is literally the edgy version of mushoku, i guess it aight if you like power fantasy
Twelve Kingdoms was the same but the Mc wasn't as messed up as Rudy
0:37 few seconds earlier, I was looking away from phone, because my family member called me. When I looked on phone and saw this, I thought My phone got screen burn for a second and I almost shit in my pants💀💀💀💀💀
Finally some semblance of good content from Joey. Definitely been a while.
Accurate comment, hope it stays this way
21:25 I'd agree with projared here "VII is the most important one, VI is my favorite one, but IX is the best one"
I second that Oreimo opinion. I went in blind on my first viewing, I had been out of loop with the anime community for about 4 years and it was on a free streaming device so I popped it on. I was so mad when it took that turn, I really liked the story it was telling until it went into incest territory
Opening and ending songs were really fun though
ah I missed these videos. Thanks
JOEY! Inuyasha is not an isekai the main charter travels through time not to another world.
Oh hell yeah! It's back! 🎉
Meliodas is a creepy guy but I love Bryce Papenbrook so I'm always conflicted. The bit where he had to keep reliving Elizabeth dying over and over again was actually very well done. I want an anime where the three main characters are Eren, Meliodas and Inosuke. Bryceathon.
no way we finally have an anime related video from the podcastman
If Hitman Reborn got a dub, then it may get more popular. Also, people seemed to have forgotten that Digimon is an Isekai.
I haven't enjoyed much Joey content lately.... but this was very enjoyable to watch.
Is it good?
@@monkey39128 Erased is great - one of the better mystery/time travel shows that I've seen
We don’t interpret information the same way you may not have picked up on it but he did
@@androognoix1685 Valid point. But I still disagree with his strict negative verdict - he is basically dissuading people from watching an otherwise great show.
7:17 Oh Man! I relate to that so damn much! And I'm so glad Joey agrees. Cause it infuriates me to no end!
Omg I am so glad I randomly came across Psyren, I freakin LOVED reading that! It really deserves a good anime adaptation
I’m gonna assume Joey wants this channel to outgrow his anime channel at this point. Not a bad thing, just an observation lol.
Isekai is like TikTok, YT shorts, and IG reels. It's cheap dopamine that people will always watch. Even if it's a 5/10 +- 2
Dude where is Joey getting this idea that no one cares about light novels? There's no way he's this out of touch with current day anime fandom.
Yes I do agree with you it's head scratching
this whole video felt a little out of touch lmao, and i’m a big fan of joey
@@jordangibb319 lmao like even the most trash light novels are popular. Idk how he thinks it's niche.

How original *Copying…*

Reborn is great if we don't consider slow start. And it is criminally underrated
You mean very slow start. It almost killed it
@@kaimobley5324 yes. First arc.
I hard disagree with the mystery one. The BBC Sherlock show was RUINED because there were no hints, no actual detective work. Sherlock just said, “Here’s what happened”. The best mystery stories are when the characters and the viewers learn at the same time. Pulling plot twists out of your butt is the sign of a writer not knowing how to write a good mystery.
was nice to listen to the debate points
Joey couldn't be any more wrong about his take on modern Isekai anime. To say that light novels Isekai anime adaptations aren't being watched and are for a niche audience is so out of touch. There's a reason they keep adapting them it's because it makes a lot of money and alot of people watch it. I remember watching some show called black summoner on a website and was surprised to see it has millions of views. Simply because it's a Isekai it has millions of views.
And it’s also not limited to Japan, which a lot of people think for some reason. It’s popular in English fandom as well
The Sword Art Online light novel started in 2009, the Log Horizon light novel started in 2010. And the original web novel of SAO started in 2002. lol
Nah FFVII has better characters and combat than FFVI. FFV also has an awesome job system, and I would argue that it is the true FF fan pick. Final Fantasy VI is the SNES fanboy pick, even if the Super Nintendo is an overrated console.
So nostalgic!
Crazy how this was the first video I saw after I opened youtube right after finishing the Berserk anime, it's like that whole google listens to everything you do but instead its Joey (also I have read it like years ago but just felt like seeing what the anime was like)
Woahhhhhh the anime man is back
holy shit, I thought this was just an old video, we're so fucking back bros
