    The note on fuel door at 2:34 recommends 98 RON and you fuelled up with 91. While it'll detune itself and run fine on 91, perhaps the trip computer doesnt factor in people not heeding this advice.

      Hey mate, my apologies for the slow response - the day job has been pretty busy! Yeah, putting 91 in was a goof on my part, but its effect on the experiment would have been minimal. The car was picked up from Nissan with a full tank of the RIGHT fuel, driven about 20-30km before the experiment began, then the tanks topped off right before we commenced the economy run. From memory it only took about 5-6L to fill the tank right up, so for a 140L tank we're not talking about a whole lot of octane dilution here. Regardless, this was steady-state driving so the extra detonation threshold of high-octane petrol wasn't really required, and given 98-octane fuel has the same chemical energy as 91-octane, you should still be able to trust the range numbers.

    • @3800TURBO
      @3800TURBO หลายเดือนก่อน

      I'd have thought the economy number displayed would be based on injector duty and fuel flow. I don't think the type of fuel would matter. If you use E10 duty and flow will increase having a 10% Alcohol content, decreasing mileage. 98/91 wouldn't be far apart.

      If you were getting 25L/100km in your 200, you were doing something wrong.
      Either you had bigger tires, carrying a heavier load or you had injector issues.

    The most important thing you didn't mention is which octave fuel you used. Nissan recommends 98 octane fuel. From what I could tell you was not using 98 octane. Also I don't recall you mentioning your cruising speed. There are a lot of variables. I have owned mine new with no modifications since 2021 and these car can easily achieve between 10 to 11 l/100km. I always use 98 octane fuel.

It's a V8 and people need to stop with the fuel economy rubbish. Get a 4 cyl if $20 a week extra in fuel does your head in. Our Hyundai i30 same city driving gets 7/100km.

    Almost every car on the Planet gets great fuel mileage on the highway with little or no stops.
    It's around town figure that most people are focussed on, and the Y62 gets about 18 litres per 100 kilometres around town which is pretty bad, but most owners just ignore that figure. And yes, I actually owned one for 3 years.
    Nobody I know just drives on the freeway.
    Not a bad car for what it is, though the inside is enough to make you throw up in your mouth.

      @ameetnarayan9219 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      When I started working at Wheels our policy was to brim tanks until fuel was visible and stable in the filler neck, but there were certain vehicles where doing so was pretty much impossible as the necks were plumbed to the charcoal canister/evap system in such a way that they'd drain the overfill before we'd ever see the fuel. Besides ruining the fuel calc it's obviously not great for the emissions system either, so the policy changed to run the pump first click. I hope that explains the methodology a little better.

    • @johncanalese588
      @johncanalese588 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      If you actually own a Y62, like I do you will have to deal with the dual tanks issue that plagues the car. The 140l tank is actually comprised of two separate but inter-connected tanks of 100l and 40l capacity. When you fill up, fuel goes only into one tank and then siphons over to the other tank. If you’re at close to 1/4 of a tank, when you fill up to “full” you never get full capacity. You can literally go back the next day and put another 10-13l in the “tank”, as the fuel has had time to fully siphon over-night! I fill up my Y62 to when clicks of pump stop, then give the car a good shake and you can hear the loud gurgling in the filler neck and then get a couple more litres in.

    • @ameetnarayan9219
      @ameetnarayan9219 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@johncanalese588 yeah every single time. You think it's empty but it's actually not empty because the Y62 fuel tank CAL is incorrect. There is still about 30 or so litres of fuel left when the light comes on. Bloody annoying as shit. My dealer ship told me when you fill up make sure you don't insert the fuel nozzle all the way in to make sure you get maximum fuel in the tank. It sort of works and not work actually. I drive it until the range is 00 kms of range left and drive another 80 kms. When I went to fill and it still only took 125 litres. It's a shit tank design with an even crappier calibration

      You're getting more than 11L/100km on the highway in a RAV?!

    Amigo ! I do not see any sense in buying a big 6l petrol SUV to drive on highways. Idiotic.
    We had one in Phoenix/AZ for 5 weeks.....while the F-250 6.7's (3 of them) used around 14 l Diesel /100 km, the Nisson boy drunk in our convoy somewhere around 22 l/100 km....AZ has some 'little' mountains....
    The 4 picks were rented, unfortunately the renting company had all other diesels out, so we had to take that Nissan...!
    A Y61 with Diesel, would have been an agreeable choice....but Nissan trashed that in the 90's...

      Weird you used twice as much fuel as everyone else seems to. Maybe it was the way it was driven 🤔
