I hope the eqV comes to the market. Its a pretty car. I dont see it as a van or taxi, but as a MPV for big families that want to drive with some luxury and SPACE.
The range will severely limit its appeal to the taxi/chauffeur market who buy 99% of the mid and large length ones. It's just a V Class with a few tiny changes. Same inflexible seating, same long stretch for the buttons, a tiny infotainment screen and i'm guessing the current models poor ventilation system. The V is better than the Viano for sure with almost no competitors but come on Merc 400km in a lab and maybe over 200km in the real world, you could barely drive it from Central London to Heathrow and back on that range without a little anxiety, certainly not getting you further than Oxford. Taking the seats out is a two person job unless you like hernias. The 2.2 diesel is a very flexible and hugely reliable engine capable of immense mileages, this version is not the answer...yet.
250km effective range is not enough at all. They really don't get it. A lot of pro people drive a lot more every day and don't have time to charge it on the way.
For now it might be enough for city transportation. Probably in few more years someone will develop higher density batteries. There are many companies trying to develop new batteries, much more than ever.
Another really interesting review. Thanks Brian ;) But, I have a request when it comes to electric cars. You guys maybe have asked those questions and is just me who have not notice the answers. What I think is very important for people to know, is how the batteries will perform over a period of time. We all know that the battery on our laptops or mobile phones doesn't last forever. And that the time you are able to use your laptop, on fully charged battery, is decreasing form the moment you start using it, until one day it have to be replaced. Yes, they say that you can drive, lat´s say 200 km on a full charge. But one year later, how many km´s can the car drive on a full charge. What about 3-4-5 years later?
It would be replace if the government took environment issue and implement zero emission law in the country. For the time being, electric car in Malaysia are one of expensive no matter what type of segment the car is. But I have hope with current government that they would took this matter more aggressively than previous government.
Solar and wind power to charge, zero negative effect on the environment? No, that is completely wrong. It significantly reduces the environmental effect however, unless solar panels and wind turbines are made using only recycled materials and using no fossil fuel electricity at all then you cant state that sorry.
I didn't exactly understand what Brian was meaning but you a correct - wind power especially, does not in any way have zero effect on the environment. To the unknowing, they may see a wind turbine rotating and think "free energy - yeah!". But the cost of installation and transmission infrastructure comes from grants rendered from their own electricity bills. They require big insurance costs, and even bigger maintenance contracts. And they have some substantial permanent impact on the local area - concrete bases that will remain in the ground for millennia, once wild places for our children will, err, no longer be so, and if its a windfarm, the numerous 'snake' of access roads will blight the landscape for decades or more... for starters... They do have some advantages in urban areas, and as single masts close to their load, but they aren't very efficient, and also don't work very well in calms, or during long periods of high pressure that sometimes occur in winter when its cold...
"Man, we are messed up bro, none of us is sober enough to drive, we better call us a cab....but,but,but...let's be sure to get an electric one that seats seven so that any environmentalists in this town won't assume we're from China and start a riot" Yeah that's a real conversation (sarcasm)
Nobody seems to talk about the sustainability of the lithium batteries for these EV's or the battery waste as they get replaced.... electric vehicles can generate more carbon emissions over their life than petrol or diesel cars just from the procurement of raw materials, manufacturing, use and recycling of the batteries.
@@Porformer lithium ion batteries aren't worth anything more than standard household batteries since the lithium cant be reused. Trust me, there will be a waste problem. Auto industry will soon make up 90+% of battery production
@@kermitthefrog3685 These batteries in an automotive application will last about 500,000 kms. After that they will still have 70 to 80% usable capacity and the cells will be reused for applications like grid tied storage and will live on for another 10 to 15 years in that application. After that these batteries are 90% recyclable by today's standards. In 20+ years when these batteries are at end of life that number is only going to improve.
After all the money I've had to spend on dual mass flywheels, EGR valves, partical filters, swirl flaps and Road taxes over the past several years.... I'm not going to miss diesels at all. I will miss my big petrol V8's though...

nice review 7:54 and Brian looks a bit like a sith lord with this shadow covering his face xD. Let the EQ power be with you
haha =)

I need a five seater version of this! Fit my family and our bikes.
Nice vehicle and amazing interview
Hey guys, love your vídeos, especially the auto show videos.
I love the looks and styling of the Mercedes Benz V Class and EQV!
Thank you, Brian. Your videos are my favourite. Always very interesting and very professionally. Waiting for more.
Thanks m8 !
MERCEDES owner of CABIFY euro taxi service can dominate with this EQV ...good review and good questions!
cheers Pal !

With 100KWh battery I think 350 to 400km range is realistic. They might be considering a lower cost smaller battery version as well.
I agree, especially if its used as a taxi
Good drilling for facts! Bravo!

I hope 🤞 in the next generation will rise the range to almost 400 miles..or maybe more
Another really interesting review. Thanks Brian ;)

thanks! yeah indeed. Guess time will tell, we cant say yet
Watch Plug Life TV for the answers.
Looks awesome
finally a car company with a brain!!! now just make it super robust, easy to repair and cheap... someone has to compete with the model 3 somehow...
Benz vans are very popular as luxury taxis in Kuala Lumpur. Wonder if these will be purchased there ?

3 литра мотор ?
Build it!
Great car, great video, but 250km range is not enough. But hey man, soundless driving.. amazing.
Nice car .but 200 kilometre is not good for this size vehicle as a commercial. 200 kilometre or even 400 kilometre is good for family use
It's looks pre-producers
What's the name of the song that in used between 0:36 and 1:05

Hello Benjamin...
Very bad interview. Too much marketing. Not enough data. Where is the electric motor? How many?

Come on man. Batteries will not wasted, they gonna be recycled, all of them.

Back of this car its so ugly.
Wtf they forgotten about back?
Omg diesels are gonna go that's really sad 😭😭
