Fantastic review!!! you mentioned a lot of important points I asked myself like the weather sealing or which mode to use for battery and you answered it very well! I replaced the hyped X100V with this model, didn’t test it yet in the field but already super happy with how much better it is for what I want to do. We have this second hand shop here and I got it for £950 which is crazy! In comparison my X100V was 1700 because I didn’t want to pick ebay for it so I had to pay so much for a worse camera, the extra 200g really don’t bother me, highly recommend this one since you can use any lens.
Thank you for the video Luca. I already have the X-H2S but sometimes i feel it is "over the top for my needs". In my opinion the x-s20 is a very capable camera with all the features you need. Again thank you! 😊
In Germany the difference between the A6700 and the X-S20 is 300€, not 100$, as you mentioned. And the X-S20 is in total the same or even the better camera.
Unfortunately prices are very different from region to region, making it difficult to be precise when comparing things. I believe the X-s20 is a great little camera, but for some things the A6700 seems to be more flexible. For photo only I would probably agree with you, as a hybrid I don't
Great review. I have the X-S20 and am considering the X-T5 since I most just do stills and hope that the additional resolution will allow for more crop zoom.
Very nice video, Luca, but I was quite surprised by your comments about the camera strap clips. Surely they cannot rattle if you have a strap attached and if you do not like using a strap then you can simply take off the clips. I really do not see that as a problem at all. And of course, you could easily use a Peak Design strap and the problem will go away in both situations.
It's a minor thing of course. But it comes with those already installed and removing them isn't easy. I used the peak design clips but tied to those clips
Did you know that this camera has a hidden dual gain iso feature when using log The second gain iso kicks in when using flog2 at iso 3200 giving a much cleaner image than iso 1600 and iso 2000 This thing is a low light beast when using flog 2 at iso 3200 and fast prime lens like the Siriu t1.2 or viltrox f1.4 lenses
The X-S20 is my only digital camera (I love it!) I have nothing else to compare the EVF to and I never really gave it much thought - though I do appreciate FujiFilm’s screen info layout, colors, etc. I wonder if I compared it side by side with a higher res EVF if I would immediately notice the difference? As it is, the viewfinder looks and works great for me!
Great video! I watched every second of it. One thing I was wondering was how the build quality (and maybe features) compared to the X-T3. Aside from the weather sealing and EVF, is everything else better? Or am I losing something if I trade it in? Other than that, I hope you can make a comparison video one day for portrait shooting and the Fuji 56mm R WR 1.2 vs. Viltrox 75mm 1.2. Thanks for the great content!
Thanks! The build quality on the x-s20 is really good, but the X-T3 is better. Aside from the weather sealing, the viewfinder is bigger and higher resolution, and in general the camera is more substantial. However consider the X-s20 improves everything else over the X-T3. I would have no doubts, the new battery and AF system are substantial improvements that in my opinion are more important than the sheer build quality
Great review! Do you plan on expanding into reviewing Sony? Specifically in the context of how they compare to Fuji bodies / lenses? I have a Fuji XT4 and I really like it, but when I was deciding which camera to buy, it was a very very difficult choice between Fuji and Sony (specifically the A7iii and the XT4). Thanks for always making excellent videos!
I reviewed the A6700 as well, you can check my videos to know more about what I think. I ended up selling the Sony great, but I have a beast like the X-H2s, which is on a different level. If you're mainly a videographer, I think Sony is the way to go. For as much as I loved the X-s20, the A6700 has more video oriented features and video oriented lenses
You can't go wrong with either of them. I'm a Fuji guy, I prefer Fuji for the colors as well. Take a look at my video on the A6700, in that video I explain why I sold it despite being a very good camera. Ultimately, if you could rent one and then the other, you would be able to see for yourself. Once you buy a camera you buy into the system as well, and that may be what drives your choice more than the camera itself
Ciao Luca, grazie per la recensione interessante ed esaustiva. Se posso vorrei farti una domanda: per foto e video ad oggi nel 2024, siccome hanno un prezzo simile, consiglieresti una X-T4 o una X-S20?
I personally would, if you mean the old version of the A7c. The AF is still better in the Sony, but the overall package is more modern (especially when it comes to video) in the Fuji
They changed that in the new cameras. Who has used both says it's night and day difference between then and now. In general however cameras are becoming more and more powerful, with endless options. It is really hard to keep the menus easy. Even Fuji's menus used to be really straightforward, but not can feel a bit messy at times
Your review of this XS20 is one of the most informative and it convinced me to go and buy one. I am now a very happy owner of the XS20.
Thanks!

I agree, and sometimes I feel the same about the X-H2s... But it's hard for me to think about letting it go

They're different cameras, but they're both great... you can't go wrong
SX20 has better colour science than Sony
Probably, I hope to be able to compare them side by side
Awesome review with samples, thanks for posting.
Thanks!
I am one very satisfied owner of x-s20 thank you for very honest review
Thanks!

I don't use log that much, I like to have the look baked in while shooting but yes, that is a neat feature

If you use it together with an X-H2 you will definitely tell the difference, however I found the x-s20 viewfinder more than usable

I'm willing to expand my channel for sure, so although I don't know exactly when, I'll try to cover as many options as I can
I’m having a very hard time deciding between this and the a6700… I’ll be doing a lot of cinematic style video, but also street photography
I reviewed the A6700 as well, you can check my videos to know more about what I think. I ended up selling the Sony great, but I have a beast like the X-H2s, which is on a different level.

@@LucaPetraliaPhotography alright. I’ll also be doing some photography… for me the weather sealed is also a big thing
@@LucaPetraliaPhotography it’s for my first real camera, so the thing that pulls me the most towards Fuji is the film simulations…

Nice video Luca, enjoyed it from an XH2 owners :)
Thanks!
Thank u for the great review
Thank you!

X-s20 senza dubbio
Grazie mille!
nice review. can i have the same colors as the xt5 even it has the xtrans4 sensor with the xtrans 5 processor?
You sure can, in my opinion the X-T5 is even a bit better when it comes to colors. That sensor is really special
Use Boost mode to get better AF. Yes, you lose a little bit of battery life.
True, I always have that activated
No long comment today Luca, just saying hello (good review by the way).
Thanks Enrique!
Would you pick the fuji xs20 over a sony a7c?
I personally would, if you mean the old version of the A7c. The AF is still better in the Sony, but the overall package is more modern (especially when it comes to video) in the Fuji
i dont like EVF and articulating screen... i prefer older tilt up/down screens. thats why i am staying with my XH1 !
For the screen the Sony A7RV solution would make everyone happy
I Hate screen to right, I want flip down or flip up screen
I don't hate it, but I get your point. However Sony is using a solution that makes everyone happy in their A7RV
How does this camera compete against Sony full frame ?
It compares well but of course there's a reason why you pay 2/3 times the price.
I used to own a a6300 and the Sony menu system is just so confusing. A big deal breaker.
They changed that in the new cameras. Who has used both says it's night and day difference between then and now.
In general however cameras are becoming more and more powerful, with endless options. It is really hard to keep the menus easy.
Even Fuji's menus used to be really straightforward, but not can feel a bit messy at times
