The actual Lego games are like this and they're brilliant. You can even drive around in Lego cars and race other people in Lego cars. That's what this should have been like.
100% agree with your opinion. This whole game, the entire Forza series, has been focusing more and more on pleasing a very young audience lately. Very sad, very disappointing.
I'm not fully sure about that but i'll admit the main thing that bothers me about this DLC: All the potential that was wasted. For instance, Lego is able to use SO MANY brands and whatnot, like Lego Indiana Jones, Lego Batman, Lego Harry Potter, and... they only made 3 cars??? They could've made it where you could literally build your own cars! Or even added really silly just for fun cars like a freaking Ice Cream Truck! That would've been hilarious! Or a minecart like out of Indiana Jones! Or hell a Lego Batmobile! There is so much potential with Lego! And so much of that potential was wasted! Ugh... thank god I looked up reviews of this before I thought about getting it. Cause I actually enjoy Lego. It feels nostalgic when I think about Lego stuff. ...But yeah, comparing this to the Hotwheels DLC in Forza Horizon 3... i'd rather go back and play that.

I thought the expansion was fine, it sort of grew on me over time. However; I'm still not sure if the Lego bits add to the experience. I feel like if they removed all the lego from the expansion it might not feel any different.
Same here, the lego-eyness didn't do much for me. It felt a little childish and the mix of lego and real was a little jarring for me (though I can see that making smooth racing surfaces would be a nightmare with lego pieces). But the more I played, the more I enjoyed it and found the events great fun. What I really liked though was the addition of some simple conceptual racing sections to the map. Namely the oval and the dunes. These simple things, along with a long long straight road, should be in every racing game, especially open world ones. I felt like some of my cars just came to life in these locations whereas in the 'realism' of the English countryside they are constantly being hampered by some hedgerow or corner or brook or whatever. But yeah, now that I've completed it, I will probably not go back, favoring the online functionality of the main world.

I'm thoroughly dissapointed that both Lego and Fortune island dont have multiplayer like the full map. Half of what I enjoy on the Horizon games is the Playground Games. And the Lego expansion has a near perfect map for games. The desert and air field are prime locations for tag and virus.
I was quite bummed about Fortune Island, but now that Lego is out, you can't compare those two. Even though Fortune is meh, Lego is burning plastic garbage. It's almost like they tried to re-hash Blizzard Mountain and Hot Wheels but failed terribly.
I thought it was weird when there was real trees mixed with LEGO. I wish they would’ve had 5-10+ LEGO cars. And I wish you could’ve actually built onto your house/car yourself. It’s just a lot of missions, some were pretty fun/challenging. I think it was worth it, just could’ve had more creativity with actually using legos. It feels like a LEGO skin over the game. Also I really didn’t like the city in the middle. I wish they scaled it up to make it more driver friendly. So you could drift through the streets and such; it’s such a very tiny city lol.
To be honest I was bored of FH4 before I played this DLC: and it's just more of the same with occasional Lego bricks. Nothing actually new or exciting. Generic challenges, generic races, and you use the base game cars anyway for more than half of it. Really expected more especially given how much they put into the E3 presentation. Then again, I also don't think they care about making the DLCs any good given most people will either buy them regardless or already have bought them with the ultimate edition.
There is a barn find that is labeled as "Prototype" and you can't actually restore it right now, so there might be something in the future. At least one new car :D

The fact you can't actually race other people (simply) on a game where you race other people is an absolute shamble. This is the first (and last) DLC I've purchased for Forza and can't believe there's not matchmaking in a game heavily multiplayer orientated 😂😂😂😂
Me too. I forked out the money for it expecting something on par with the hot wheels expansion in fh3 but I've barely even played fh4 now. It's extremely boring and the Lego expansion just adds to the laziness that I've felt in this game.

@@s1ke605 Pretty glad to hear that. I mentioned in a different comment that Lego have so many car sets and everything, but have only included these three. Like, Bugatti is in on these lego sets. Mercedes has a share, McLaren too. Dodge did a deal to create a dragstrip set with a '70 Charger and a Challenger. I believe Chevy has their foot in the door with a yellow C7 Stingray. Honestly, the only talk they have to do with each other is about whether the Lego likenesses are acceptable for placing in game as a sort of lego variant of the vehicle. Completed all of the challenges, haven't been on it again. There's nothing else to do. There's nowhere where players congregate, like they do at Needle drift zone on fortune. Ive spent countless hours drifting up and down that road with random people, but there is nowhere like that in LEGO valley. You get used to the LEGO very quickly, you forget it's even there.

I just tried the main game out with the xbox pass, and it grew on me suprisingly fact, given I'm not even a car enthuisast, so i bought it. I was considering buying the expansion pass, but I think I'll just stick to the main game.
I blame nobody but myself for purchasing the Ultimate Edition at launch. Horizon 3 was one of my all time favorite racing games in terms of just pure fun. But the turn 4 took with the avatars, clothing, dances, etc that all felt more appropriate in something like Fortnite, and then following up with a Lego DLC.... Like I said, nobody's fault but my own, but I most certainly was not the demographic being targeted here. I still have high hopes for whenever Horizon 5 shows up but the list of game franchises I'm willing to pre-order is now smaller than it was.
I'm honestly so sick of Turn 10 and Playground just mailing it in on every DLC and game lately. Forza 7 and Horizon 4 were pretty soul-less and disappointing to me. Yep they've just gotten lazy in recent years. No soul in their games anymore. That's why I held myself back from preordering the ultimate edition this time around, and I'm so glad I did after seeing how this DLC turned out. Horizon 2 and Motorsport 4 were the last truly good Forza games in my opinion. Everything since then has just been slowly going downhill and getting more and more 'just box it up and ship it out'. The magic is gone it seems :(

I haven’t bought any DLC just yet but when you hear LEGO you should be able to create your own car design. So this not being the case is really surprising and made me think why the DLC is called LEGO then!!!!
3 cars!!! There’s plenty more LEGO ‘speed champion’ cars that are round legal irl cars, not to mention that there are 2 prototypes (LMP1) and other GT and rally cars
Your right on target, I was/am overall meh about the LEGO expansion, but my 7yr old loves it. He likes (the idea of) the Hot Wheels expansion but it is hard for him as you have to keep speed up just to stay on the track, LEGO is basically smashing into bricks which he’s pretty good at.

The LEGO expansion is so genius and art all on its own. I was trying to buy it, but my card isn't activated for some scenarios. Maybe later. The HotWheels one was a must also. This is like Lego Island 2 and Lego Racers at once. It's awesome. Lego Rockband was also genius

Loving it, I'm having tons of fun. It was different, and unexpectedly gorgeous. I can't wait for the Barn Find. I'm curious to what car that is. I do wish they had more Lego cars. Hopefully they do. Thanks for the fair review. Oh, and my daughter loves to watch, lol.
I would have to say the Lego Expansion fell a bit short compared to the predecessor's expansion. It looks decent but is lacking some of the meat on it's bones compared to the Blizzard Mountain and Hot Wheels expansions, those I sank my teeth into and might go back to revisit especially the Hot Wheels expansion. That one really scratched the arcade racer itch.
As an Australian, the series peaked with 3 and the DLC there but, even though I've enjoyed 4 somewhat, this is a missed opportunity if you can't build a bonkers car or tracks like you would with Lego. An online demolition derby at least. C'mon, it's Lego!
I just want motorbikes to be added to the game, to me that is the one thing this game is missing to take it to the next level. Not sure how possible it is to implement in Horizon but I know games like Test Drive Unlimited pulled it off. I loved riding the bikes in those games.
Just rearranging the assets in your house base plate would have been passable as a Lego expansion, but no. Better include more than the barn find car if they want to make this worth anything apart from the track.
It is worth it if you dont like to cruising on snowy roads on mainland or fortune island. I got it from ultimate edition bundle from summer sale this year.
My own opinion: Turn 10 should go full-in with Hot Wheels, at least in terms of cars. A "bonus" HW Original car every "pack." It may not make much sense for Motorsport, but it is perfect for horizon. I want to see more of the weird/amazeballs stuff like Deora II, Power Pipes, Power Pistons, More stuff from the 70s and 80s most of the relatively younger audience of Forza don't know, hell, bring back some fo the Acceleracers originals; there were a lot of awesome designs from there! Etc etc...
I really enjoy Forza Horizon 4 and I like Lego too, so I was really excited when this was first announced The real reason I've not gotten it yet, however, is that it only has 3 new cars, and for 20$ that is a bit rough.
While I appreciate it's the newer game, I think it's telling (and rather sad to me) that the 'spin off' game gets two expansions, yet FM7 doesn't even get a new track. Gives me little faith for the future of the Motorsport series.
@Vincent Tuminello Did you not play with Lego's as a kid? I mainly bought them for nostalgia purposes. The expansion merely reminded me of how much I loved Lego's as kid. I even got the Ferrari for my grandfather because he's really into cars (Ferrari's especially) and he was really happy to receive it. Also I'm a twenty-three year old man with money I can spend on whatever I want. They're not going to bio-degrade any slower on my desk then they already were on the shelf at Walmart.

Kinda disappointing. At lest the hot-weals DLC in previous game had unique gravity defying Tracks as in it let you drive sideways and do loop de loops. This just seams like a Lego skin and nothing more.
its cool but not in the same scope as the hot wheels. the hot wheels added well major hot wheels tracks etc and crazy hot wheels specific stuff, this expansion seems to lack the aspect that would make the Lego stand out in the game. its just lego cars with some lego scenery
It has some excellent drift sections, Falcon Speedway was great but overall wasn't worth it. This was done to rope kids into the game/be family friendly, but done so at expense of those whom had laid money down for the ultimate edition. Which I won't be investing in again.
In retroperspective I'd say what's there is pretty good'ish and fancy looking, but it's just not a lot of non-filler content (only 4 Lego cars wtf) and therefore overpriced. On sale it's definitely worth it, I had fun for about 8 hours with it.

To be honest, it would be nice if all cars already in-game with a speed champions equivalent were featured.
I haven’t bought any DLC just yet but when you hear LEGO you should be able to create your own car design. So this not being the case is really surprising and made me think why the DLC is called LEGO then!!!!
I literally just built the LEGO F40 (75890) last weekend. The Senna (75892) was an absolute blast to build.
3 cars!!! There’s plenty more LEGO ‘speed champion’ cars that are round legal irl cars, not to mention that there are 2 prototypes (LMP1) and other GT and rally cars

Your right on target, I was/am overall meh about the LEGO expansion, but my 7yr old loves it. He likes (the idea of) the Hot Wheels expansion but it is hard for him as you have to keep speed up just to stay on the track, LEGO is basically smashing into bricks which he’s pretty good at.
4:50. To me that is what a lot of the story challenges felt like. Why do I have to drive to the challenge to start the challenge? Just have me start at the area of the challenge.
I'm not getting this expansion however, I think it's funny when lego show's up in other games and " lego things up" so to speak.

The LEGO expansion is so genius and art all on its own. I was trying to buy it, but my card isn't activated for some scenarios. Maybe later. The HotWheels one was a must also. This is like Lego Island 2 and Lego Racers at once. It's awesome. Lego Rockband was also genius

I would have to say the Lego Expansion fell a bit short compared to the predecessor's expansion. It looks decent but is lacking some of the meat on it's bones compared to the Blizzard Mountain and Hot Wheels expansions, those I sank my teeth into and might go back to revisit especially the Hot Wheels expansion. That one really scratched the arcade racer itch.

As an Australian, the series peaked with 3 and the DLC there but, even though I've enjoyed 4 somewhat, this is a missed opportunity if you can't build a bonkers car or tracks like you would with Lego. An online demolition derby at least. C'mon, it's Lego!
I just want motorbikes to be added to the game, to me that is the one thing this game is missing to take it to the next level. Not sure how possible it is to implement in Horizon but I know games like Test Drive Unlimited pulled it off. I loved riding the bikes in those games.
Just rearranging the assets in your house base plate would have been passable as a Lego expansion, but no.
Better include more than the barn find car if they want to make this worth anything apart from the track.

My own opinion: Turn 10 should go full-in with Hot Wheels, at least in terms of cars. A "bonus" HW Original car every "pack." It may not make much sense for Motorsport, but it is perfect for horizon. I want to see more of the weird/amazeballs stuff like Deora II, Power Pipes, Power Pistons, More stuff from the 70s and 80s most of the relatively younger audience of Forza don't know, hell, bring back some fo the Acceleracers originals; there were a lot of awesome designs from there! Etc etc...

The real reason I've not gotten it yet, however, is that it only has 3 new cars, and for 20$ that is a bit rough.

While I appreciate it's the newer game, I think it's telling (and rather sad to me) that the 'spin off' game gets two expansions, yet FM7 doesn't even get a new track. Gives me little faith for the future of the Motorsport series.

@Vincent Tuminello Did you not play with Lego's as a kid? I mainly bought them for nostalgia purposes. The expansion merely reminded me of how much I loved Lego's as kid. I even got the Ferrari for my grandfather because he's really into cars (Ferrari's especially) and he was really happy to receive it. Also I'm a twenty-three year old man with money I can spend on whatever I want. They're not going to bio-degrade any slower on my desk then they already were on the shelf at Walmart.

At lest the hot-weals DLC in previous game had unique gravity defying Tracks as in it let you drive sideways and do loop de loops.
This just seams like a Lego skin and nothing more.
I have the ultimate edition and I probably won’t play lego edition until I have completed the base game
its cool but not in the same scope as the hot wheels. the hot wheels added well major hot wheels tracks etc and crazy hot wheels specific stuff, this expansion seems to lack the aspect that would make the Lego stand out in the game. its just lego cars with some lego scenery
This is an expansion to sell with xbox one forza bundles for Christmas. Just like hot wheels.
It has some excellent drift sections, Falcon Speedway was great but overall wasn't worth it. This was done to rope kids into the game/be family friendly, but done so at expense of those whom had laid money down for the ultimate edition. Which I won't be investing in again.
In retroperspective I'd say what's there is pretty good'ish and fancy looking, but it's just not a lot of non-filler content (only 4 Lego cars wtf) and therefore overpriced. On sale it's definitely worth it, I had fun for about 8 hours with it.
