A snickers bar has more calories . What a waste..

I don't think a Snickers has more than 900 calories

First responder and retired military here: I can see where they were going with this particular option (without the heater pad).. Kind of like the First Strike Ration or LRP Ration; something you can open and eat on the go when time is very very limited or when that overtime assignment goes way way into overtime and you need a quick an healthy(ish) pick-me-up.

Are you now a cop in disguise as “first responder”?
If you are now a cop, you should be ashamed of yourself for shitting all over your oath to the constitution

You can save a little money by going without a heater but a hot meal is a big boost for morale.

The main needs to be bigger. Other than that..... I think it's meant as a quick snack.

Affordable? This are literally the same price as the best MREs on the market, which are the military MREs. XMREs are some of the MOST expensive MREs out there.

From what I've seen on all the "Blue Line" XMRE's is that the main is the least calorie dense component. The side items and snacks contain 300-400 calories each while the mains are consistently around 200. Which seems a bit backwards to me....

A McDonald’s burgher & fries is probably cheaper and more calories 😂

Not a big fan of the XMRE. They seem expensive for what you get.
Might as well just make your own and rotate it every year or so. What
may be their saving grace is they appear to be able to keep up production
while others can't. Good idea with the makeshift apple crumble.

What waste of money. Marketed to people who think if you carry an MRE bag then it turns you into Chuck Norris.

As a non american i don't get why there is almost no "real" food and instead a lot of sugary "candy". Same in regular MREs.

spend $10 on some food you like and put it in a box, two years later eat the stuff you like and buy more to put in, then you get to eat stuff you like in an emergency and save a crap load of cash, how hard is that?

as someone who occasionally eats lunch from the dollar store(its my closest food option) the chicken creations are not enough I usually buy 2 with a pack to tortillas and it is still a light lunch

When XMRE first came on the market, they had random menus which is a problem if you have food allergies. When I reached out to them about that, I was told they bought remaineders from various component producers and kitbashed, so they weren't even consistent just following an outline of component types and price point. A friend of mine bought a couple and they had a two year spread on the components in the same meal with the shortest six months away. Maybe they've gotten their shit together, but there is a different between "cost efficient" and "cheap", and XMRE is cheap- it is an unhappy meal with a huge cookie.

I actually got spiced apples in my bugout bag. 'Really i see this as some sort of quickish meal if youve been really putting hours in on the day. The only problem is is its clearly repackaged from past MRE menus, which isnt _bad_ but it lacks any kind of food-restrictive rations for anyone whos vegetarian or has food allergies.

I think I would have been better to make my own MRE with store bought and my vacuum sealer. Good review though and I glad you brought in your own seasoning. I always carried my own in the field.

That looks excellent. Could you make up a MRE indented for 50 year old tech support people? Should be mostly coffee and sugar.

Like you, I was a little skeptical about the "cheap" version of the rations game (having bought 2 cases of Humanitarian rats and regretting it), but it didn't look bad at all. I do agree with the child-sized portion of the main. Tried your hot sauce trick (coincidentally, the same stuff I had purchased this morning in an effort to try something new) with a chicken sandwich similar to that. I like the sauce. My go-to has always been Marie Sharp's Smoked Habanero, but I have been getting tired of that and picked up 2 or 3 small bottles of various types to try. Good review.

You could ditch the stupid drink and the apples, keep the oat biscuit and make the main dish much bigger.

I am guessing that you purchase these (all) of your demo rations at the best possible price? Why not pass on to us the purchasing price info, order info, shipping cost etc.? Some of us would like to buy these rations to eat.

why? you can get all this stuff at a fraction of the price at your local store, and if you store it correctly it lasts just as long.
