Just recently found your channel and totally love your content. Thank you for sharing your insights. Now I understand your enema plush too. Clever! I’ve been on and off selling on eBay since 1999. In 2005, I went to the eBay convention in Las Vegas. That was an interesting event & a fun way to connect with other resellers. Even bought the eBay cookbook that year as well. Just got back into reselling this past summer and felt pretty good at selling $400 worth of stuff in a week. I have a full-time job so this is a part-time side hustle. I thoroughly love thrifting and finding treasures to resell. However, getting home with those treasures sometimes ends with me not feeling motivated to sell and I ended up with boxes in my living room. So your videos and organization of your items have been great motivation. Just listed 20 items today. Whew! 👏💪 getting it done! I’ve also been selling vintage items on Etsy for about 10 years. Hey, same problem from germany. Fees are ridiculous. 11-12% on item and shipping + 0,35cent fix transaction fee and 19% tax on the fee. Also we have to pay the 19% Sales tax to government. Its not worth anymore.

I'm annoyed by the international fees they continually charge me when I have my store set to no international sales. These buyers in other countries who use 3rd party shippers end up eating into my profit and I often forget to check my buyer's location so a lot of them get past me. If we have international buyers blocked, eBay should not only block the international shipping address but also the buyer's registered location. I think it is a way of helping pay for road repairs the damage that bigger vehicles cause. In a state like Minnesota they have to use a lot of winter chemicals due to ice and snow. Here in the south we have a problem with a lot of road damage due to big poultry farm trucks. They would have to raise road taxes on all citizens otherwise. JMHO

Especially for an online reseller or retailer, it would be impossible to do so as both taxes and shipping is different depending on where the product is going to. This is for the hidden fees, those things such as the fees that car sellers don't disclose on the first sales sheet given to a potential buyer but is only told to the buyer at the time of purchase, after the sale has already been made....things like that.

I assume the fee is because they think there’s an increase in commercial deliveries causing the roads to deteriorate faster, so they tack on a fee. Not too far fetched if that’s what it is!
I stopped going to live auctions years ago when the auction houses started implementing a buyer premium in addition to the % commission they charge the seller. Some of those buyers premiums are getting as high or higher than the sellers %. I never felt it was right for them to get money on both ends like that and that's what some of the online platforms like Mercari are doing. Also, I don't believe Ebay is anywhere near done with their fee increases as the Amazon FBA fees are still much higher than Ebays fees. It doesn't make any sense but I feel that Ebay looks at those Amazon fees as attainable for them to implement over time even though Ebay doesn't stor ethe products that sell, have no warehouse space or have the logistics to do what Amazon does. Get buckled up--it's going to be a bumpy ride.
I don't have promotions on. I'm a PT seller. I have less than 750 items. I sell anything I can profit. I have 7 items waiting for the post office tomorrow. Pretty good for PT, less than 750 items and not promoting. Meaning you do not have to promote to sell and have people buy and have people see your items. 7 may not be a lot but since I'm a reseller slacker and don't resell everyday, etc...
@mspaula0509 I've been on ebay for 9 years and trust me it's gone down hill since promotions started. My posts hardly get views. I've been around long enough to 100% see the decline. Maybe you should go elsewhere too because I've seen a increase on other platforms. If you are doing well there you might do even better....
@@videogamessource2473don't assume I haven't been around long enough. I've been buying and selling off/on ebay since 1999. I have items else where, including PM. It's crickets over there. And just by looking at YT sellers, they barely make sales on Mecari and Etsy. So other than those mentioned....where else do you recommend venturing onto? Can't do much on WhatNot unless you have followers that video it. FB Market place has scammers or no shows.
@mikeyb1981 so you give over almost 30% away how is that profitable when it's near impossible to find items to sell worth over 20$... plus most people want 60 70% there's no profit in getting 30% taken
The roads are getting really bad in Louisiana. I keep saying invest some of the tax money safely, make our taxes make money, to get everything done. Stop overtaxing.
It's sort of a hidden tax. Most of all, sales taxes are regressive. A tax on the poor and middle to keep them down.. the less you earn the more they hurt.
There should be no “Road fees” anywhere! Roads are another thing that is paid for through our ever increasing taxes! It’s just one more way to get money for them to spend foolishly!
Colorado implemented a "delivery fee" last year'ish? .30 cents last time I checked...the money goes towards roads, ect. upkeep...I'm cool with it, so far!! because it is better than an overall tax increase which would include people who don't even use any type of delivery service.
I would argue that everybody uses some kind of delivery service. Everybody gets the mail. Things are delivered to grocery stores and people buy them. I’d be fine with it if the also got rid of the taxes on gas that are already in place. They just add on. Never do we see a decrease in these things.
I wish eBay would pass the 30 and 40 cent FVF on to the buyer, I’ll gladly still pay the 15% if they could do that. I sell mostly cards, so low value cards I only pay a few cents for the 15% FVF, but the .30 kills me on margin
I would guess ebay has been startled both by people's willingness to not have a 'home platform' that they list everything on, and also the improvements to cross listing software. I would not be surprised if soon there are software platforms where sellers can draft listings outside of any specific platform, so choosing between reselling sites would be a regular part of making a new listing. Sellers are also more willing to permanently rage quit a platform in the way Genz quits jobs more quickly than other generations. This gives them several unique challenges they did not have 10 years ago. Not to mention, lots of people are creating content around how to start selling on Amazon and a lot of Amazon sellers only sell there once they get up and running.
You never see on the gas pump how much just the gas costs plus how much tax per gallon you're paying. Rules for thee but not for me. No surprise there. Makes flea markets look more lucrative.
It's wild how much the gas tax varies from state to state. That said, the federal gas tax is not tied to inflation and has not increased since 1993. Combine that with EVs taking a bite out of gas tax revenue and it's no wonder states are trying to make up for their perceived lack of road funding.
Great video fees are so bad I owe eBay, and I'm not making money. I see some jerk thinks it's great if people quit more sales for him, we'll I'm not quiting! Been doing this since the 1990s
I would think that a good portion of eBay sellers need not worry about this 50¢ fee. Getting a $100 sale is usually not happening for sellers whose stores are filled with a multitude of dirty plush, stained tupperware, broken dolls/toys, anything/everything with missing parts that is deemed vintage, (even if the item was made last year). So many listings are absolute junk....unequivocal trash. And I'm not talking about one man's trash is another dude's delight....I am talking about things too crappy to pass on. Folks need to draw the line on what is acceptable to put your name on and what should be walked out on bin day. A touch of discretion, please. There are still good items, of course, but please....don't tell me you haven't cruised through the listings in a certain category and wondered....WHY is this even listed?
Colorado started this fee in 2022 but NOT ONE RESELLER made a video about it. No other State has this tax. If you actually read the Minnesota Department Of revenue page it is on luxury goods and excludes food, anything medical, even items used for the purpose of resale (plus more). In addition there are multiple exemptions including businesses who don't make more that $1 million or marketplace providers making less than $100,000.00 (these are on Minnesota retail sales only.. before sales tax etc) . Obviously this tax got passed to a tiny fraction of buyers on eBay because eBay probably exceeds these exemptions.. not the sellers. They are doing this because the state is loosing revenue to pay for the roads from the gas tax because more people are using electric vehicles. This is the official "why" from the State. I am not here for politics which is what this video has now become (see comments) It feels targeted especially with the clickbait title and the fact that the Governor of said state is running for VP. Things are polarized and hard enough for resellers without us fighting with each other AND over a tax that no one seems to really be looking up. I get it.. I'm over the crazy taxes, fees, subscriptions, Spirit Airline type of world we are in. We just bought a house last year in CA and it was really difficult. I was a huge fan of yours. I was so inspired by your saying of save a dollar spend a dollar and donate a dollar that I personally used it as a mission statement for my own business. Now I'm just frustrated because I don't want to have to feel like I'm fact checking and possibly have your fans coming after me. I appreciate that we definitely don't agree on politics but please if you are going to do these type of videos...PLEASE try and gather all the info before forming an opinion. That way we all have common ground to have a meaningful conversation or debate.
Kevin made the video because he was getting messages from customers in Minnesota asking what was going on. I know for a face other sellers have received similar message in recent weeks. I can only assume the government in Minnesota did not do a good job at educating their constituents about the new tax. (I'm sorry, "Retail Delivery Fee" 🙄). Kevin had no clue what it was, but after the 3rd time he decided he needed to look into it. Part of the theme of this channel is educating other sellers, so why shouldn't he talk about something like this? You have boldly stated no other reseller made a video about a similar fee in Colorado. How do you know this? There are dozens upon dozens of resellers who make videos on this platform and others, so to assert that not one of them ever mentioned the fee in Colorado is absurd and arrogant. Even if true, why should that keep Kevin from talking about something on HIS channel? Kevin gives his thoughts and opinions on various topics. That's not new. Sometimes I agree with him. Sometimes I disagree with him. That's okay. We will all have different thoughts and opinions. According to my own research, as of January 2024, there were 53,356 EVs registered in the State of Minnesota. This is out of over 4M registered vehicles statewide. They may be losing a relatively small amount of road tax revenue, but why are people who may not have EVs having to make up for it? Why not charge a tax on people who own EVs to make up the tax. That would be fair thing to do, if their reason for the new tax is genuine. I appreciate the context you've added, but I am not sure that it really changes things. Slashing spending so people can keep more of THEIR money is what grows businesses. I have no problem with people who use roads having to pay for the upkeep. I have a problem with the sneaky way it is done. It's a tax, not a fee. If EVs are the reason why, tax those folks, not everybody else. I understand you are not here for the politics. For better or worse, the actions government takes does impact businesses. Therefore, I think it is relevant to discuss these things. There is a lot of forecasting going on that the US dollar will soon collapse. If you think prices are high now, if that happens you best buckle up, it is going to be a bumpy ride. What if the income tax credit isn't renewed after next year? That's going to hurt resellers customer base, too. These are all things which are highly relevant. I'm sure there are a lot of resellers out there that do not realize that might vote in a manner that will hurt their business. Educating them is important. They may still vote how they intend, but at least they will understand what is happening when their sales dry up and business fails.
I don't care who people vote for in November because at the end...it doesn't matter. NONE of them are really working for us minons (Trump, Kennedy, Harris, etc, etc). But Trump wants to force Tariffs on things purchased from overseas...who do you think will pick up that tab?! US...the consumer. All I think about are the ones that complain about import fees, etc from other countries (Europe, Canada, etc). Trump's Tariff isn't going to help your pocket either. Like I said-it doesn't matter who you vote for in November...none of them are working for us.
No. Come on now. Remember covid when folks bought all the sanitizer they could to resell at crazy prices? Some were RIGHTLY prosecuted. Still those folks do not control the price of eggs unless it is from their own chickens and good luck to them if they can get $20 a dozen. Monopolies and corporate greed are the issue on a federal level. As an aside, a news story broke recently that indeed some corporations admitted to raising the price of eggs (and milk, I think) and keeping them high.
Hey CWP! Another great video! You're right about the consumer getting used to all these added fees. It's almost out of control.

I wonder if the Minnesota fee is to make the delivery business help pay for road maintenance?
There is going to be a lot more 99.99 dollar online sales in Minnesota now.
In Minnesota they have no taxes on clothing so maybe this is a way to get more tax revenue idk for sure but seems likely
Ebay has gone down the crapper since promotions im selling elsewhere more now
I don't have promotions on.
I promote everything at 12% and things are selling like crazy
@mikeyb1981 so you give over almost 30% away how is that profitable when it's near impossible to find items to sell worth over 20$... plus most people want 60 70% there's no profit in getting 30% taken
The roads are getting really bad in Louisiana. I keep saying invest some of the tax money safely, make our taxes make money, to get everything done. Stop overtaxing.
I live in Colorado we pay tax on any thing online stores.
So you do alot of auctions? Or are you setting prices for everything u post?
Gas taxes don’t even cover half the cost to maintain the roads. Most of it comes from the general budget.
Going full steam ahead
A snapshot of things to come - November matters more than ever before!
It's sort of a hidden tax. Most of all, sales taxes are regressive. A tax on the poor and middle to keep them down.. the less you earn the more they hurt.
eBay treats their fees like a buffet. They know they're full, but if they can find room for onr more plate, they'll go back for more.
I have that same bat listed for $28 free shipping. been listed for months. sold others.... this one is sitting... Guess I need to raise my prices..
It's a payment processing fee. It will never go away. All payment processers I can think of have it
I saw that bs fee as well. As if Minn wasn't horrible enough.
Hey flip is OK because all you pay is a dollar or 50 cents for all your stuff you sell
Does ebay require anything extra when shipping items with lithium batteries in them?
Thanks
Hey Oh!!!
I am full steam ahead.
Him retelling the joke made me subscribe!
OMG you have the Fleet Enema Man! Lol
I've sold thousands of them
These fees are becoming a killer!
It should have to be posted on the pump in each state. Not likely though.
Way to protect your son. It was funny 😁
Great video fees are so bad I owe eBay, and I'm not making money. I see some jerk thinks it's great if people quit more sales for him, we'll I'm not quiting! Been doing this since the 1990s
He's not a jerk. I often think the same thing. More for me.
Full Steam Ahead For Q4!
All the Best of Luck to All the Resellers out there!
eBay fees with promoted fee now exceeds amazon MF fees. It’s getting ridiculous now
Good....I hope they keep increasing their fees until they take 99% . People will still use them 😂.
Minnesota is doing its best to be California of the midwest
Will those Christmas bulbs get shipped with USPS?
Good
Becky is a high school choir teacher
Can't be. Tim Walz is for the little guy. Isn't he?
Need some help on Bonanza. Over 100 items and have views just not sure what I am doing wrong. LOL. Thanks love the videos.
You're selling on Bonanza
I have 2000 on bonanza and only get 3-7 sales a month.
VP candidate Wals from Minnesota, if elected..…. Prob will become a “National Tax”
🤣
🤡
Fees and taxes are getting so crazy. The government just wants to keep us poor. 😢
People unsub over any little thing. Lol!! Just keep doing the same thing.
Lol, if you have a king and/or a queen in your country, you have bigger problems than a joke 😂😂
New Hampshire has no sales nor income tax... 😊
Death & Taxes you can't escape either.
eBay owns Goldin....
👍
THAN DONT DO IT.. OR WHINE FOR TH-cam MONEY
Walz adding that fee in Minnesota. Kamala's price gouging plan may limit how much a reseller marks up what they are selling.
Blame tampon tim😅
Has you ever stopped and thought about how much money eBay makes on a daily basis? Is everyone working there a millionaire? 🤔
