So, every videos I made recently had chapters working. But my last one, a video game playthrough of 6 hours, with around 100 chapters, won't work. I tried everything. I just feel like this particular one isn't eligible for chapters. That's sad, because chapters were supposed to be a big "feature" of how this video is meant to be used. My channel don't have and never got any strikes in the past. Nothing is monetized either. Anyway. Thanks a lot for your breakdown. It gives me a better idea how this murky feature works. I hate that it is never clear, though.
Interesting. I've never seen them list a MAX of chapters allowed, but perhaps they cap it at 100 chapters in a video? One thing you might wanna try is reducing your chapters in that video.. I know it would suck to lose some of the breakdowns you made, but for the sake of understanding TH-cam's limitations, what if you tried reducing your chapters in that video to say 75? Or 50? Basically see if chapters would show up in that video if the amount of chapters were lower. Perhaps you'd land at the sweet spot... where apparently TH-cam only allows 30 chapters or 50 in a video? I'd be curious to hear your findings!
@@jaykaslo After hours of troubleshooting, I can firmly confirm chapters are capped at 100. As soon as I add a 101st, the whole chapter feature is gone from the video. I was able to compress my chapters into exactly 100 (this includes the "00:00 - Start" chapter, so you really have only 99 chapters slot, minimum 11 seconds apart since a single chapter must be at least 10 seconds long), and now chapters are working properly. I hope this helps!
Hi, I had a question about the advanced features. Essentially, what I have noticed is that for some strange reason, my advanced features were revoked last year. I have been uploading content almost regularly the past seven months and they have not been reinstated yet. I assumed it would only take a few months to establish the channel history. How long did it take for you? Also what of videos which are partially blocked in some countries or have some copyright claim on them? Would they count towards chapters not showing up?
Hmm... did they ever ask you to jump through some hoops to "verify" yourself? They did that to me earlier this year (which like I mention in this video I think was because of the copyright strike that I allowed to sit in my videos library forever). If I recall, that process and waiting to get approved for advanced features took about a week or so? Also, I don't think having some videos partially blocked in some countries because of copyright claim would be grounds for chapters not working for you, but it's hard to say for sure. A lot of these things are pretty iffy all-around.
@@jaykaslo Yes there seem to be a lot of formalities like ID verification, and so on, stuff that I’m not too keen on giving TH-cam. Regardless, I did possess one video which was blocked worldwide on the grounds of copyright so I removed that from my library. Also I did get a copyright strike (on a now deleted video) which is supposed to expire in a month’s time so hopefully chapters come back after that?
