    I just bought a USB C trackpad yesterday and love it so far. Can’t wait to use it more.
    Btw, I’d recommend using a fill light to help fill in some of those shadows on the dark side of your face. It shouldn’t be as bright as your key light, as you still want some shadow and definition.
    Also, a back light (not background light) will help separate you better from your dark background since you wear dark color clothes and have a darker skin complexion.
    Hopefully that helps some. Not to be an ass.

    • @jaykaslo
      @jaykaslo  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      Thanks for your feedback. Yeah each video so far has been a bit of an experiment as I've been trying different things (in this one I tried shooting against green screen, but didn't love the results, so I've stopped doing that for now). I do use a soft box as my key light, but its remote recently stopped working, so I can no longer adjust the temperature and intensity with it, plus I haven't done too much with fill lights and back lights as I was really more interested in getting more videos out (focusing on the content) rather than spending time/money on perfecting my lighting/setup. But now that my channel is finally starting to get some serious views, I'll definitely be experimenting with more robust lighting setups, etc. and will probably buy a new soft box soon (perhaps Black Friday sales).
      But yeah, congrats on your new trackpad purchase. If you're fairly new to trackpads (like me), I think you'll find how you use it will continually evolve -- how I'm using mine has already evolved since when I made this video, so I'll probably do a part two of this video within the next couple months. 🤓

    I find it a lot easier to turn on tap and hold via three fingers and save the virtual desktop gestures for 4 fingers. Once you've got 3 finger tap to just drag windows, or highlight text, you won't go back.
    I don't think I've ever used the 3 finger tap dictionary feature, specially when pretty much every person always has a browser open anyway, so I don't miss that at all and I don't think you would either!
    I appreciate that all these actions are cool, but I feel like you could have done everything a lot better and more accurately with a dedicated macro pad, streamdeck, or simply with keyboard shortcuts. That way you have the trackpad for actual trackpad stuff, and you don't have to worry about accidentally sending your windows to another monitor with a rogue touch...

    • @jaykaslo

      Interesting points. This was literally my first stab with the Trackpad (as well as combining with BTT). Basically I got super excited about all the *potential*. If is just tapping, then keyboard shortcuts are the way. In windows (powertoys) and most likely linux, you can manage different zones and assign shortcuts for that. Even the basics are way more convinients.

Honestly as a lifelong mouse+keyboard user I'm relatively new to the trackpad experience, so I've just been getting my feet wet with 1 and 2 finger taps and swipes, but I'm sure eventually I'll make even better use of the trackpad with more advanced gestures. I bought BTT for 99 cents a long time ago and it really makes the Apple mouse feel like magic. Best investment of my life, hehe. I think the old interface was much better and simpler. I recently tried to install the latest version of BTT on my sister's M1 Macbook and for some reason only a few gestures were available for configuration. No tapping, no swiping up/down, no clicking, etc. Has anyone else experienced this issue? I've disabled all default gestures in macOS and gone through various settings, but nothing I've done has worked. I'm clearly missing something here...

    • @jaykaslo
      @jaykaslo  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah I've found that each input device (whether mouse or trackpad or something else) has its own various pros and cons -- really it's just a matter of each person figuring out what works best for you.
      I'm just SO used to using my mouse for decades, I'm still using my trackpad as a supplementary tool, but I can definitely see using the trackpad more and more as I get more used to it. Who knows, perhaps I'll fully switch to trackpad some day, but for the time being I'm enjoying using both.

      Some of the things you turned off, are what I consider essentials, heck, they are basic functions, which will make using the trackpad harder and impossible to use on its own. Switching between apps is so quick with Cmd+Tab and Cmd+a to switch between windows. So use single tap as normal click and two finger click as right click.
