      I mean, of all the demons in demacia mentioned, only Nocturne wasn’t covered.
      Evelynn prefers populated areas so an isolated forest is a bit out of her usual hunting grounds.
      And Fiddlesticks is out in the hinterlands, on the further outskirts of controlled territory whereas most of the events of the game take place in or near the center of power in the country.
      Also Fiddlesticks is bonkers powerful in comparison to Nocturne, having him show up only to get jobbered by a lore-wise middle-tier champ would not make sense.
      It’s made pretty clear that Morgana wasn’t trying that hard and could have ended the fight whenever she wished, Sylas despite his great personal growth isn’t strong enough to take on one of the Ten if he’s at half an Aspect’s mercy.

    I think the Mageseekers coming in elemental pairs isn't quite as dumb of them as you'd imagine. It allows them to always have something that's effective against whatever target they are going after. If someone's resistant against fire, they can't be resistant against ice, meaning a team of just fire mageseekers can't really do much against a fire mage, so bringing an ice mageseeker is useful for them.
    Of course, considering Sylus can steal magic, it's excellent for us to have fun with, but Sylus' ability to steal magic is extremely rare, and it's kinda the reason he was so harshly locked up by the mageseekers in the first place. It's waaaaay too useful of a skill for them NOT to get on their side, so they imprison rather than just kill him. Only, now that he's escaped, it's really biting them in the butt now.

    Its heavily implied that the power of kayle on wysteria comes from a feather of kayle, sylas says "what did they do to you" when she first transforms, ryan power is upgraded by morgana feather and the morgana feather sylas gets that empowers him was obtained in the labs and is implyed that they were experimenting with it, plus on top of all this, hesbeth gives her something that "helps her manage her powers" on the past and it just happens to glow yellow

    11:17 to the story part on people who don’t know, I actually think it’s nice to have games that are for the already established fans and not for newcomers completely. There’s so many games for a first time experience and they’re cool but having a company make games that expands an already established story for fans feels like it’s paying back homage to the fans. It’s been like 10+ years people who barely ply the game know league exists. I think it’s fine to have a game that is for the fans that already are there

    • @DoctorOaks
      @DoctorOaks ปีที่แล้ว +3

      That would be fine if the game offered any information on how you could learn the rest of the story. It's like being handed the 2nd book in Lord of the Rings thinking it's the first book. You'd be very confused and the game would likely seem unfinished with many hanging plots.
      If there were literally any game that could be used as an entry point I'd agree with you.

      @@eli2210 Sure, that's nice and all, but potentially ending core story arcs of Demacia in a game plenty of people who know nothing about it likely to play as your first game for that region is kind of... bad planning I guess?
      Like sure it's nice for people like us familiar with all the lore, but it's a bad impression for anyone playing it because they're interested in League. Like I said, I just think they should've made an introductory game at some point rather than a conclusionary one.

    • @TheCryGuy77
      @TheCryGuy77 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@DoctorOaks That isn’t what he’s saying tho, he’s saying it’s nice to have games that are for the fans that know the story. Even Tyler knows what’s happening in democratic just by watching the cinematic, no need to read up on all the lore. I think a game like this which expand the lore instead of just giving us lore that we already know of, is great, and I think even people who don’t know League could play this game and understand the plot and what’s happening. Mages captured, Sylas rebellion, boom, fight. It’s simple, but to us fans who know the lore behind all that and around it, is very complex and exciting.

      That doesn't solve the mystery. We already knew that Sylas didn't kill the king. All Gideon told us was that the Mageseekers knew that Sylas was telling the truth. It doesn't reveal who really did it, just explained why everyone ignored Sylas when he said he was innocent

    • @McRaptorRex
      @McRaptorRex ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I agree the game doesn’t solve the mystery, everyone knew sylas didn’t do it because of the lux comic and the outside stories. Katarina comic showed us she absolutely did it but i would love to know how it feels to experience the game without the context of everything else. I feel like how they handled who killed the king well in the game. It shows another level of how much the mageseekers have controlled things. I like the game just feel like the overall story is lacking because too many things were answered. The civil war is over, we know how the king died and see how the knowledge of Durand has been passed down. It also complicates demacia’s story in the ruined king further.
      This all leads to a greater demacian and noxian war, which is good, but I wish the civil war lasted longer and had more development.

Jarvan straight up orders Mageseekers for public executions??) and their list was already stacked with a few. If I was Sylas' place, Im sorry... this fight is nowhere near over as long as people in power who allowed Mageseekers to be so influencial and turned a blind eye or even supported them are still there. A huge part of the storyline of the game is about Sylas learning to let go of that desire and focus on building a better world for mages. Why not negotiate? Why fight to reform Demacia at all, why not secede? The way the game ends, Sylas has every opportunity to get everything he wants without further struggle, the only reason to keep fighting is to satisfy his bloodlust, which the game does everything in its power to remove

As for J4, he didn't have any power until his father died literally the day the rebellion started, which is the same day Sylas dragged him to the steps of the palace and tried to force-feed him live rats and publicly decapitate him. Is it really so unbelievable that J4 would consider hostility against Sylas's rebellion justified? Especially when the game has a cutscene dedicated entirely to showing the Mageseekers discussing how J4 is young and grieving and easily manipulated into allowing them to operate unimpeded? Are we really going to advocate for the execution of a man for crimes that he either had no part in, or for which were justified against an enemy that had demonstrated extenstive and cruel hostility? Especially when the game even points out that he is being manipulated into acting this way, and the moment he realizes the truth starts to work on fixing his mistakes? Additionally, the game also makes sure to show to the player that J4 isn't changing because he is "making a promise at the edge of a knife" but because he is trying to make a Demacia where the people they love (Lux and Shyvana) can live freely. I don't think Eldred had a wimpy death, especially compared to Hesbeth. Eldred's death fit his character really well, he knew that he wasn't the final boss so he didn't need a boss fight because his death didn't matter. His power laid in his manipulation of Demacia to hate mages, and Wisteria was that hatred manifest.

    • @e.v4892
      @e.v4892 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      That's a fair assessment, but I think it's undercut by the fact that his successors in Wisteria and Hesbeth both miss that point entirely and instead go even more extreme then they already were.
      Neither of Hesbeth or Wisteria made Demacia hate the mages further. In fact, their insanity was the biggest boon for the rebellion, not a danger to it. If Demacia's commonfolk weren't in a state of despair at Wisteria's extreme measures, Morgana's deux-ex-machina lore reveal wouldn't have hit nearly as hard. In fact, I find it very plausible that in an alternate world where Eldred survived, Morgana wouldn't have been able to do anything. Eldred wouldn't call for more executions, he'd instead point at the recent second capital siege and say something to the effect of "Look how murderous these so-called rebels are! Don't believe their lies; they're exactly the monsters we've been saying they are." And Demacia would have little reason to doubt them. Wisteria's counter to Sylas' vision-spread - that it's just mage propaganda - would actually have weight instead of being a pitiful, insecure attempt to salvage an unwinnable situation.
      IMO, Eldred should've been the final boss, but not in a physical way. His power of manipulation, making Demacians hate and distrust mages, should've been the final enemy for Sylas and his rebels to confront. It would've made more sense for the story of a revolution AND, in my view, made Sylas' character arc more concrete, rather than the odd ending we got.
      Instead of just going around killing people and organising raids against the Mageseekers' patrols, Sylas (if not in the main story, then at least in the side missions he and his subordinates attend) could've instead worked to derail the Mageseekers' message. Send fire mages to northern provinces to help freezing towns keep warm; send nature mages to places with low harvests and help them increase farm yields; use magic to protect average citizens from Demacia's dangerous wildlife. These could've shown how the mages worked to dismantle not just the Mageseekers as an organization, but their ideological hold on Demacia. Of course, where the Mageseekers tried to capture his fellows, he and Leilani could've worked to protect them. Not on the assault, but on the defense, yet with enough of a fight that the Mageseekers get antsy. As public opinion shifts and more mages come out of hiding - not for violence but to help their fellow Demacian - the Mageseekers slowly pull the trigger on their more extreme tendencies. Wisteria grows more frantic, Hesbeth gets more authority, all under Eldred's supervision. Eventually, the final execution mandate can be called in, with an extra clause that puts mage sympathisers on the chopping block just as much as the mages themselves.
      This would culminate in the final battle where Sylas convinces the Demacian people - from the peasantry to noble-born soldiers like Garen to even (likely) King Jarvan himself - that it's the Mageseekers that are in the wrong. Convinced in the righteousness of his cause, they pave the way for him to confront Eldred and his final defender, Wisteria. The final boss happens as usual, then its time for Sylas and Eldred to face each other. Like in canon, Eldred will be accepting of his death and offer no resistance, believing that with Sylas striking him down, Sylas proves himself the monster Eldred's been portraying him as.
      Only, he then doesn't.
      Sylas doesn't kill Eldred. Ironically, he instead captures him, perhaps throws him in the same cell he was captured in for good measure. But the point here is, despite having every reason to want to kill Eldred for revenge, Sylas doesn't, instead focusing on the mission Leilani inspired him to take: to do justice and work not for vengeance, but for the dream of a better Demacia. This then gives Jarvan the chance to do more redemption than just writing a paper; he hosts a trial that finds Eldred and his order guilty of all charges, then issues his reforms. Perhaps he kills Eldred and (if he's still alive) Hesbeth for good measure, and attempts diplomacy with Sylas, despite him believing he's still to blame for his father's death.
      Either way, the story arcs here, IMO, would flow better. Sylas gets a more concrete shift from vengeful radical to heroic revolutionary. The Demacians more organically grow accepting of mages, and thus, people like Garen and Jarvan don't have to force themselves to hypocrisy anymore. Further, Jarvan wouldn't look as much like a spinless idiot simp, but instead like a flawed but well-intentioned monarch; he'd grow from a vengeful pawn of the Mageseekers using his crown to get his way to the genuine king of Demacia, serving his people accordingly despite his own wants. And who knows, in becoming that he might actually grow worthy of Shyvana's love.
      Sry for the essay but mentally raving about this stuff since I finished the game

    My guess why Sylas still fights Demacia (Spoilers for the end of the game)? J4 and Garen didnt take any responsibility for what happened in Demacia while still hunting him for his crimes as I understand it. They call him a murderer, they didnt drop charges for murdering the king as far as we know and they act like they were just victims of Demacia while being in the most powerful positions. I also dont think that they have any remorse for what they were part of maybe Garen a bit but they mostly just wanted to fix a relationship they valued and thats why they swaped sides. Sylas shouldnt have all of those insights of their personalities so maybe its as simple as them being unwilling to drop charges against him and his followers.

      I think Sylas says something along the lines of not being able to trust them not to renege on their word becuase they conceded power under threat.
      He’s too cynical to believe that they could be genuine and that tearing out the entrenched aristocracy of Demacia is the only way to ensure that any change will stick, at minimum remove those who were in power so they cannot revert their changes.

    At first, even on the controller was a bit weird, but after you figured out the combination and played for a few minutes, it was really easy. On the controller, the grab was much easier since you didn't have to target the all the time the enemy and just hit the R1 button when you were close to one or R1 and the joystick, not really targeting. I encountered a few bugs when I had to begin the mission again cause I was either stuck into a wall for using abilities or not able to move for some reason and only could grab the enemy. Another thing that I don't know if it was a bug or I should have done something and I didn't do, was when I wanted to go back to read some lore after I picked it up from the floor. I pressed all the buttons but it still wouldn't let me see the full letter. Besides those things, the game really brings joy and seeing the little reference to more champions that we encounter. the story was really good and it really expand the lore forward in my opinion.

It also leaves some things unexplained for some reason and a lot of the laws on how petricite works is not entirely explained.

    SPOILER
    Personally, I felt that a big reason for Sylas wanting to abolish the monarchy in Demacia at the end of the game was because the monarchy were in charge of Demacia since its founding and the mage seekers were able to come into power despite it. He lost Leilani and Killan. Is he just supposed to forgive J4 because he's changed his mind? Sylas and the rest of the mages are the victims of the situation and to Sylas, the Lightshields were the perpetrators. He may have developed the same mentality as Swain that no one person should be in charge of a nation. There's probably going to be another story linking this game and the Warriors cinematic to show off Lux and Sylas's differing allegiences.
    Besides, I doubt everything is solved just because J4 abolished the mage seekers, years of prejudice and segregation doesn't just end that easily. Sylas may just be playing the bad guy so that the mages and the Demacian military would properly come together and fight him off.

      I would agree... if Riot didnt actively try to portray every single Demacian as good hearted and having nothing against magic. First in LoR, now this game solidified it, NO ONE that wasn't a mageseeker had any prejudice against magic that wasn't born from a lie. No Demacian actually has for some time now. Specially with the Vision from Morgana, now every single one of them knows they were right in not being against it.
      But ofc, that's more a consequence of Riot transforming what was an actual interesting story about social and cultural struggle with prejudice into a simple ''the bad guys tricked us!'' story. Riot is not actually smart enough to talk about the consequences of years of prejudice and segregation unfortunely.

Im not too sure as to when in the game this happens, but you DO find out how the king died. When you talk with Gideon at some point in the game, (i'm sure it was pretty late into it), he tells you that the mageseekers didn't actually believe that Sylas killed the king, and he also tells Sylas that the king was killed with a dagger and they just made Sylas the scapegoat to make the people of demacia hate him. I Don't know wheher or not that influences your opinion on the game for those who do not know the comic, but yeah. Just wanted to let you know :)

Even if you don't know the lore, you get to see what Demacia is like with all of its horrors from the perspective if the abused mages, from the perspective of Sylas (who just escaped imprisonment after 15 years). You are playing as Sylas, you are building the rebellion, so you definitely are getting information from their perspective that is relevant to it.
    Also, I think Sylas feeling different makes perfect sense cause.... well character growth. Leilani's death and the responsibility for all the people did affect him a lot. In reality it all would take quite a bit of time (compared to the 15 hours of the gameplay).
    And no shit he doesn't trust the monarchy . Jarvan is dripping with hypocrisy.

      Honestly, i get it. Even if monarchy wasn't a problem, Jarvin proved that he was willing to scale up mageseeker operations because of his grief and to accept a full execution degree because he was fearful of the rebellion. Sylas can't let a man like that rule. Also, Lux has proven herself willing to defend her brother over herself, her wants, and initially, mages in general, so it makes sense for her to fight sylas even if they both understand each other.

  • @rwg6357

    Sylas' tragic flaw is he can't forgive, Its actually a big part of the story especially in relation to Morgana. Essentially Sylas has flipped his goals, Freeing the Mages to Toppling the Monarchy, You understand WHY he wants to do it but its clear its more to do with sylas' own hangups then anything Jarvan is doing. Hell the only reason a certain character dies is Sylas is single minded in revenge.
    On Demacia, Lets be Real the Whole Mage oppressor aspect of Demacia was done in Riots little fit of making everyone the Protagonist/Antagonist of the story with no clear "villain" unless you were a Drakin, or a Void monster. Riots' basically given up on that aspect and lets be honest Its kinda annoying to have a bunch of characters you're told are decent people but ignore the blatant injustice. Mageseeker is essential just putting Demacia back on track as the main bulwark against Noxus.

    Accidentally pushing the dash button into a cutscene and immediately blazing through 4 textboxes before you knew wtf was the most annoying but I really enjoyed my time with this game.

    I remember the story for Elementalist Lux is that she became the queen of Demacia. Wonder if that will become lore...

    I love this game. But I have 2 things to talk about:
    1st the thing with the Mageseeker Colossus. I had also wished to fight some epic enemy.
    2nd is the story with Nocturne. Honestly, I have been fearing to meet Fiddlesticks ever since the first Mission of this Questline. First all this stuff with fear and then the campfire with the two leftovers of soldiers that reminded me of Fiddlesticks' Cinematic for his rework....

      There are not much new info about Kayle in game, only some mentions about her as Winged Protector, and in short Morgana story(you can find it in youtube by Mageseeker cutscenes or something like this)
