I don't get the request for an interaction with rell as for what I see, Briar is made as a living weapon in seclusion as Briar is made from hemomancy/blood and as you can see that briar can't really control her power, it make sense that briar don't have an interaction with rell. In addition, Rell escaped with a purpose to save the children while briar is there to escape with reason of freedom. Thats my opinion but just weirded out with the request.
I doubt she even know that Rell or other kids existed tho. Rell and Annie are from the Black Rose's academy while Briar literally just "Kill that person" then "Kill that person, no failure is acceptable this time" and she still does it again and got locked up by Swain. *Not Black Rose but Swain*

I think they just needed to add interactions with Swain and Leblanc at least. But I would have love to see interactions with Fiddlesticks, Warwick and Dr Mundo since they are some of the scariest creepy champions and clear references of classic monsters. The Vampire, Werewolf, Frankenstein, haunted scarecrow.

I mean, she need more interactions because her whole character is someone who wants to meet everyone and pair that with her being a living weapon where there's already like multiple living weapon characters (like Rell, Zac & the Darkin) its just a big shame completely.
Zac is probably not even canon anymore… Rell was just one of the *many* Black Rose experiments. It's no surprise that Briar wouldn't know about her since she just came out of prison. Same for the Darkin. How could she know about them? They're mostly in Shurima, Ionia, or the Freljord. We don't know of any Darkin in Noxus and the only ones who would know about them would be Vlad, Mordekaiser, and maybe Leblanc. The books? I don't think any books in a Noxian jail would talk about the Darkin…
Yes she should have more lines, like Neeko! She should be curious about more stuff since she know so little about the world. Just random stuff like, why do some champs have tails? Does skaarl eat meat? Why is that guy so big? What does horses taste like? Anything!
Since there is a talk about Dota, In dota if you ping SS (enemy missing) the Hero actually voices "name of lane" is missing e.g. "middle is missing" if you are on mid and ping ss, or "bottom is missing" or "top is missing" depending where you are when you ping ss, and they even have variations so it doesnt sound the same , "middle is missing" or "missing middle" its easier if you just check on the dota2 wiki, and everyone in the team hears that voice line Also having the champions LITERALLY say "lane is missing" and everyone hearing that is much better than just the ping sound which ppl use it more for WTF ARE YOU DOING more than for SS and there is also a "thanks" option in the ping wheel and the hero just says thanks, (kinda like the overwatch emote wheel) and i think that is waaay better since league doesnt have voice chat.
also most of these voice lines have a cooldown so ppl cant really spam them, like if you ping ss for 6 times in a short amount of time the hero will say the line only once, and there is an exception to 1 Hero Marci who is mute and only whistles, but still when you ping ss it still shows in chat
Even HoTS had that, for every ping you would hear the champion say it like for every scenario, whether you ping to defend a building a champion an area and it wasn't generic "Defend this" either, heroes put their own spin on their quotes like Alarak going "This structure is more valuable to me than you are." when pinging a structure to defend or "If you wish to die, go here." for his danger ping, generally, HotS was generally an amazing game, the talents system instead of item really gave room for adapting and self expression while the teamwide level prevented one guy from being "the god" in a game just cause he had a good laning phase, really sad that it died

Lets not forget that the reason we stopped having actual Interactions and additional voicelines since probably Samira was all because league wanted to listen to pro players complains that the voicelines were too ¨annoying¨ to keep listening to and supposedly this is why we stopped getting voicelines and cool interactions like we used to which again, sad thing, the voicelines is what makes a character interesting and intruiging, the lore.. overall sad choices league is still firm on apparently, idk why everyone acts so surprise since its been happening for a while now.

We literally have an option to mute champions voices, and ANYONE who knows even a bit of programming knows how easy it is to implement an option to change the frequency the lines come out. Riot just doesnt care because its easier to just cut money out of it. Its arguably worse now cause now they talk a lot, but repeated lines, which makes it even more annoying.

Nah, that might've worked back when they were still small and their tech wasn't as good as today, but nowadays it's the norm to have a lot of interactions, it gives the character personality and sense of, like you said, interconnectivity within the world of runeterra. Isn't briar supposed to be this "experience the world after being locked up for so long" kinda character? It should be reflected through her interactions because it makes sense for her. Riot is just making excuses and we all know it.

The problem is not the lack of interactions in itself. The problem is that based on those interactions we can expand our knowledge of the lore, we can know what are the most important interactions between champions and why. We had basically 0 lore released lately which makes this lack of interactions even worse. For example if Akshan had no interactions with other champs it wouldn't matter because the whole ruination event gave us a lot of lore from other sources.
Having little voicelines is very tiring when you play a character a lot. When you play something like Aurelion or Kayn constantly, you'll usually hear voicelines you haven't heard in the last three games, and some games where you just spam ctrl 1 or 2 it feels like some champions have infinite taunt quotes, which ended around Kai'sa's release.
I've always liked having a character with a ton of lines as a new player because it got me to learn the lore of characters I would have never looked up before!
I think its cute that Necrit has so much faith in Riot doing those things on purpose for the benefit of the players... but its pretty clear they just dont really care much. Like, we're not even asking for item interactions (that were GREAT and showed even more personality), we are asking for her to have basic interactions with 2 of the MOST IMPORTANT characters on her story Its hard to argue they care about it and not just low budgeting everything... specially considering the Varus and Nidalee voicelines thing. Making her have less voicelines doesnt make the ones she has special, because most other champions have WAY more, she feels lesser, not better
It's sad to hear how Riot wants to cut down on the number of voice lines new champions have. It's unfair to compare 2022-2023 characters to dinosaurs, but after playing mostly Alistar you can get tired of only hearing "Stampede" "I know the way" and "Nothing can hold me back" over and over. Does the lack of voice interactions make that cow any less fun to play ? No. But could he be updated in the future to have more polygons and more than 5 non-shout or non-death voice lines even with different voice actor ? Yeah, that would be nice. Although his lore is limited and the character does not represent an edgy guy or a sexy girl, Alistar the Minotaur also deserves some love.

She also doesn't say she reads the books, but that she looks at their contents. As an aside, she becomes more powerful by looking at the insides of books? What she do, find a magic library or something?
Riot: we want a special interaction voice line to feel unique, it gives the character a lot more flavor... So we do that by cutting back on the number of voice lines so when you DO have that interaction you hear the same thing over and over again
Sion was indeed the one who was locked up in the same prison as Briar. It is confirmed. When the teasers were still going on in the client, I decided to AFK for about 1 hour in front of her cell each phase to listen to what she has to say, and iirc starting from phase 2, there was an interaction between them, where Sion started with "This... hunger... it gnaws..." (a Sion voiceline, and it was also Sion who said it, just slightly distorted), to which Briar responded "You're not the only one whose hungry, Sion!". This was one of the few lines that had voice acting.
The connection to Talon sounds more like she worked with Talon before, since we know Talon is loyal to Marcus and Marcus works with/for the Black Rose.
I remember when I first heard lux say she was sona's biggest fan. It felt really special. I think it only comes up with you as a support lux against a Sona support
It seems that Briar's story shares some similarities with Nimona's from the Netflix film but somehow in a kind of more dark way. Even from the release trailer, it's aesthetic appears to be just like the film, with graffiti and a colorful vibe. The facial expressions, featuring sharp and overall crazy movements (like when nimona is escaping from the prison), are also similar to Nimona. Both Briar and Nimona are ancient creatures with immense power, yet they remain eager to learn and explore the world. also the way Briar interacts with Talon looks like the knight from Nimona-both praise and express a desire to learn while also poking fun at the other character. unfortunately , we don't have many more interactions to analyze in greater depth. In any case, the stories of both characters are strikingly similar. Despite their dark aesthetics, both came from lower social classes, but their lives took a drastic turn when they were accepted into a service serving the elite. both had their masters betrayed and killed by someone they trusted, marking the beginning of their respective journeys that led them to find the mains characters. but I think that the similarities between them end there so it's more like a coincidence than a anything else.
I love champions with many many interactions. For example Zoe bought me with her voicelines and now I am maining her. Kinda sad that when she'll get a legendary it won't have much voicelines like base skin. Also, do you guys remember when first skin for champ had unique voicelines for their first skin. Zoe is another example or night bringer aphelios or cyber camile
Am I the only one who's heavily reminded of Gollum(the character, not the game) from Briar's quotes? It's not really a back and forth but the two moods still contrast strongly and much like Gollum often talks about death and killing, Briar's frienzy mode does too. And Smeagol being curious and childish also reflects well in "normal" Briar.
Some other games have a toggle option for voiceline rates. I imagine they could implement the same or similar system and give the players control of their experience.
I really like Briar after all but I agree that her voice lines sucks in explaining who she is or what she does, someone that does this perfectly in recent time is Nilah, you learn about her, the demon of joy and her interactions explain where she is or what her goal is (interacting with graves/tf or demons)
I'd rather see some more unique voice lines between champs, if they want to have unique lines trigger less often, make the requirements to trigger them a higher bar.
Some champs that know a lot about the other champs. Like swain should have a lot of voice lines. But Briar who spent a lot of her life in prison would not make sense to know about the other champs.
She is having cool voice lines that fit her, but that's true she could get more, like talking to some noxians as rell, leblanc, swain, ... But also she could juste have voiceline for "all places champion", like making a general voiceline against all demacians, all shurima, all freldjord saying things like "cold blood, tadte like sun, ..." They juste could have done a bit more without doing a lot i guess

I'd presume it's common knowledge but as we've started using handshakes less over time in favour of fist bumps and other interesting greetings, the reason you shake hands with your right hand is because you'd normally wear your sword or dagger on your left hip, making it harder to attack your opponent at close quarters, when your dominate swash buckling hand is filled with another's it's fair reasonable to assume you are safe
I honestly do prefer the fewer and more meaningful interactions than just pumping a character full of "hey there mr champion I've never met in lore, you're a rock."
About Sion and Briar in prison, there is an interaction in client teaser then out of nowhere Sion start speaking about his hunger and Briar ansver it, so it pretty much confitmed even without voice lines

I agree. A bit more interactions would be good. Also I agree a lot with one thing Riot did on the cuts. Notice there are no more voices for items. I agree on it a lot cuz every time one item is removed or changed there is always trouble, so just keep the voices for champions.
To be fair, she did just escape from her noxian prison. She's had no time to experience the rest of the world, leaving no room or reason to have any encounters with characters she's never met.
I honestly hadnt given it a second thought about the lack of voice lines. I just thought it made sense. Locked away in a dungeon and the story is taking place just after she gets out. Wouldnt have had a long time to roam and meet other champs.
She was imprisoned, she doesn't have any knowledge of anything outside her cell save for her 2 missions she was deployed in both of which she massacre her team, hence the imprisonment. She's only stepping out into the world for the first time at the end of her cinematic.
When predators lick some kinds of toads the reaction can be very bad for them. Licking toads causes sneezing, and for thing at the mouth, and sometimes death for small animals like cats
big problem for pets and native animals here in Australia where cane toads from the US were introduced for agricultural reasons (to get rid of cane beetles they didn't actually get rid of) and became a major pest animal. TL:DR don't lick toads.
Briar is NOT supposed to have many voice interactions. You can't tell me, that you believe a crazy vampire to have the personality of an edgy teenager instead of the endlessly hungry vampire she is. I was expecting her to have similar voice lines (theme and concept) of fiddle. Where she has very few voicelines and other than that shes more of an animal than "human". In my opinion this is where they kinda failed the character design. Gameplay is good but I still can't get behind the berserk mechanic and her R not being recastable.
only 4 mins into the video but honestly i like the idea of the voice interactions being rarer- it makes the game more immersive if the characters only interact properly with people theyd actually know and have history with unless its baby characters like yuumi milio or annie making unfiltered observation comments like innocent little kids often do irl

I would like to know how the lore explains how she get around town with the pillory without attracting attention. It is also very sad that her designer has confirmed that she is pink instead of red because of Chinese censorship (or how Riot kneels before it rather) and not for a creative decision.
I think you could suffle how you interpret the Principles of Strength quote: You need to be Mighty to be able to "look the enemy in the eyes." The ones with Guile can "hit them before they hit you." And you need Vision to know how to "be the last one standing."
The hair is fading out of blood line isn't a reference to frenzy it's a reference to the fact her hair dips into gore of whoever she's eating dying it pink and red when it dries.
I remember a year ago playing kayle and morgana together would just make them non-stop chat to each other with less than 2s between the lines. I think it's fixed now

I think the fact that she doesn't have much interaction is because she was in prison for a very long time. And she was insane for most of her time before her imprisonment so she might not really have an opinion about people like Swain, even if he was the reason behind her imprisonment. It does highlight her past and isolation.

Lets not forget that the reason we stopped having actual Interactions and additional voicelines since probably Samira was all because league wanted to listen to pro players complains that the voicelines were too ¨annoying¨ to keep listening to and supposedly this is why we stopped getting voicelines and cool interactions like we used to which again, sad thing, the voicelines is what makes a character interesting and intruiging, the lore.. overall sad choices league is still firm on apparently, idk why everyone acts so surprise since its been happening for a while now.

We literally have an option to mute champions voices, and ANYONE who knows even a bit of programming knows how easy it is to implement an option to change the frequency the lines come out. Riot just doesnt care because its easier to just cut money out of it.
Its arguably worse now cause now they talk a lot, but repeated lines, which makes it even more annoying.
I find this reeeeaaaally hard to believe. Riot loves its pro scene but not enough to compromise on their marketing.

Swain keeps Sion as a “fail-safe” in case some Noxians get the funny idea of rebelling or refusing his orders.
Rarity? Nah, that might've worked back when they were still small and their tech wasn't as good as today, but nowadays it's the norm to have a lot of interactions, it gives the character personality and sense of, like you said, interconnectivity within the world of runeterra. Isn't briar supposed to be this "experience the world after being locked up for so long" kinda character? It should be reflected through her interactions because it makes sense for her. Riot is just making excuses and we all know it.
I mean Briar is amazed by the recall feature saying something like, "Wow! Can everyone do this?"

The problem is not the lack of interactions in itself. The problem is that based on those interactions we can expand our knowledge of the lore, we can know what are the most important interactions between champions and why.
We had basically 0 lore released lately which makes this lack of interactions even worse. For example if Akshan had no interactions with other champs it wouldn't matter because the whole ruination event gave us a lot of lore from other sources.
Having little voicelines is very tiring when you play a character a lot. When you play something like Aurelion or Kayn constantly, you'll usually hear voicelines you haven't heard in the last three games, and some games where you just spam ctrl 1 or 2 it feels like some champions have infinite taunt quotes, which ended around Kai'sa's release.
I've always liked having a character with a ton of lines as a new player because it got me to learn the lore of characters I would have never looked up before!
Okay by the way can we just mention that the voice actor for Briar did fucking AMAZING. The growl, anger, psychotic energy, etc. So incredible.
I think its cute that Necrit has so much faith in Riot doing those things on purpose for the benefit of the players... but its pretty clear they just dont really care much. Like, we're not even asking for item interactions (that were GREAT and showed even more personality), we are asking for her to have basic interactions with 2 of the MOST IMPORTANT characters on her story
Its hard to argue they care about it and not just low budgeting everything... specially considering the Varus and Nidalee voicelines thing. Making her have less voicelines doesnt make the ones she has special, because most other champions have WAY more, she feels lesser, not better

It's sad to hear how Riot wants to cut down on the number of voice lines new champions have. It's unfair to compare 2022-2023 characters to dinosaurs, but after playing mostly Alistar you can get tired of only hearing "Stampede" "I know the way" and "Nothing can hold me back" over and over. Does the lack of voice interactions make that cow any less fun to play ? No. But could he be updated in the future to have more polygons and more than 5 non-shout or non-death voice lines even with different voice actor ? Yeah, that would be nice. Although his lore is limited and the character does not represent an edgy guy or a sexy girl, Alistar the Minotaur also deserves some love.

Riot: we want a special interaction voice line to feel unique, it gives the character a lot more flavor...
So we do that by cutting back on the number of voice lines so when you DO have that interaction you hear the same thing over and over again
Sion was indeed the one who was locked up in the same prison as Briar. It is confirmed.
When the teasers were still going on in the client, I decided to AFK for about 1 hour in front of her cell each phase to listen to what she has to say, and iirc starting from phase 2, there was an interaction between them, where Sion started with "This... hunger... it gnaws..." (a Sion voiceline, and it was also Sion who said it, just slightly distorted), to which Briar responded "You're not the only one whose hungry, Sion!". This was one of the few lines that had voice acting.
The connection to Talon sounds more like she worked with Talon before, since we know Talon is loyal to Marcus and Marcus works with/for the Black Rose.
I remember when I first heard lux say she was sona's biggest fan. It felt really special. I think it only comes up with you as a support lux against a Sona support

It seems that Briar's story shares some similarities with Nimona's from the Netflix film but somehow in a kind of more dark way.
Even from the release trailer, it's aesthetic appears to be just like the film, with graffiti and a colorful vibe. The facial expressions, featuring sharp and overall crazy movements (like when nimona is escaping from the prison), are also similar to Nimona.
Both Briar and Nimona are ancient creatures with immense power, yet they remain eager to learn and explore the world. also the way Briar interacts with Talon looks like the knight from Nimona-both praise and express a desire to learn while also poking fun at the other character. unfortunately , we don't have many more interactions to analyze in greater depth.
In any case, the stories of both characters are strikingly similar. Despite their dark aesthetics, both came from lower social classes, but their lives took a drastic turn when they were accepted into a service serving the elite. both had their masters betrayed and killed by someone they trusted, marking the beginning of their respective journeys that led them to find the mains characters. but I think that the similarities between them end there so it's more like a coincidence than a anything else.
Riot has done this with almost all of their champions and reworks since Jhin or something. They blend in memes and other trends.
Voice actors are paid more the more lines they record so yes necrit, it is about money
Depends on the contract. It might be per hour, per line, per job. In the case of /hour or /job, it's irrelevant.

I love champions with many many interactions. For example Zoe bought me with her voicelines and now I am maining her. Kinda sad that when she'll get a legendary it won't have much voicelines like base skin.
Also, do you guys remember when first skin for champ had unique voicelines for their first skin. Zoe is another example or night bringer aphelios or cyber camile

It's not really a back and forth but the two moods still contrast strongly and much like Gollum often talks about death and killing, Briar's frienzy mode does too. And Smeagol being curious and childish also reflects well in "normal" Briar.

I really like Briar after all but I agree that her voice lines sucks in explaining who she is or what she does, someone that does this perfectly in recent time is Nilah, you learn about her, the demon of joy and her interactions explain where she is or what her goal is (interacting with graves/tf or demons)
I'd rather see some more unique voice lines between champs, if they want to have unique lines trigger less often, make the requirements to trigger them a higher bar.
Some champs that know a lot about the other champs. Like swain should have a lot of voice lines. But Briar who spent a lot of her life in prison would not make sense to know about the other champs.
She is having cool voice lines that fit her, but that's true she could get more, like talking to some noxians as rell, leblanc, swain, ... But also she could juste have voiceline for "all places champion", like making a general voiceline against all demacians, all shurima, all freldjord saying things like "cold blood, tadte like sun, ..." They juste could have done a bit more without doing a lot i guess

I'd presume it's common knowledge but as we've started using handshakes less over time in favour of fist bumps and other interesting greetings, the reason you shake hands with your right hand is because you'd normally wear your sword or dagger on your left hip, making it harder to attack your opponent at close quarters, when your dominate swash buckling hand is filled with another's it's fair reasonable to assume you are safe
I honestly do prefer the fewer and more meaningful interactions than just pumping a character full of "hey there mr champion I've never met in lore, you're a rock."

To be fair, she did just escape from her noxian prison. She's had no time to experience the rest of the world, leaving no room or reason to have any encounters with characters she's never met.

I think she's an assasin agent that's only let loose when there's a target and not a murderer out in the streets of Noxus.
She was imprisoned, she doesn't have any knowledge of anything outside her cell save for her 2 missions she was deployed in both of which she massacre her team, hence the imprisonment. She's only stepping out into the world for the first time at the end of her cinematic.

Briar is NOT supposed to have many voice interactions. You can't tell me, that you believe a crazy vampire to have the personality of an edgy teenager instead of the endlessly hungry vampire she is. I was expecting her to have similar voice lines (theme and concept) of fiddle. Where she has very few voicelines and other than that shes more of an animal than "human". In my opinion this is where they kinda failed the character design. Gameplay is good but I still can't get behind the berserk mechanic and her R not being recastable.

I think the fact that she doesn't have much interaction is because she was in prison for a very long time. And she was insane for most of her time before her imprisonment so she might not really have an opinion about people like Swain, even if he was the reason behind her imprisonment. It does highlight her past and isolation.
