Dasaita makes some great Android head units with options for vehicle specific trim and acceptable if not beefy processing power and RAM. They also have pre-programmed CAM-bus for steering wheel controls and vehicle specific harnesses. Plus a whole lot more. I've had a nothing but positive experience with mine.
This one had a CAN-bus app, I think their higher-end models have more processing power and CAN-bus functionality. But this is their entry-level model and it''s just not a good product.
Brands like Dasaita, Joying, etc may honestly advertise specs, have better customer support, and better software, but they all have crappy build quality. Even the best Chinese Android Head units lack the build quality of even the entry level models of manufacturers like JVC, Sony, Alpine, Kenwood, etc. I've owned several Android HUs and they all had hardware failures after a year or two.
@@Cakebattered I've had a Joying in my truck for 3 years and nothing but good things. I'll praise Joying, Dasaita, and Seicane constantly. They have a way better build quality than the 3rd party companies who make these head units. I'd take an Android radio over any of the big box name radios anyday. It's all about using the good company with good spec radios.
I have an android head unit. Sound is great and perfectly integrates with the stock JBL Synthesis 10 speaker surround in my 2006 Toyota. I still have steering wheel controls and I managed to get Android Auto working, of course with the help of some accessories especially to keep the phone charged like a usb hub and a carlinkit. I believe most depends on the android head unit brand you buy and the price range in which it fits. A good rule in my opinion is to look at a 250/300$ budget to get a decent android head unit. Basically you get what you pay for, and the head unit in this video is one of the cheapest on the market for less than 70$.
The ISO harness is a Blaupunkt connector (Audi uses this). ISO is Industrial standard, Not American standard. The power antenna only powers when on AM/FM (Audi uses this as well) while the amp turn on, turns on with the deck (this common on a lot of decks, ANT being solid blue and REM being blue/white). The EQ should play across all audio the same. This is a 1gig unit and its recommended to download offline maps. I ran one for 4 years, used a line driver and amped all speakers and it stood up to 145db daily. Currently I am running a 9" 2 gig version that's much faster however I will be going with a 4gig soon. DSP and interior amp again, we will see how well it holds to a 150+. Not the greatest deck but for $130 that I paid for my 2g 9" version I will take over those sub $1000 units as I have installed a few and not impressed. I can buy the head unit, audison DSP, 4 channel amp for less and get much more.
Thanks for the info! I did some googling and apparently Freightliner, Audi, Volkswagen, and several others used the ISO connector. I could not find any information on how these things were pinned though. For the pictures I found online they were all pinned differently. Glad to hear that you found a version that would work for you.
@@DIYAudioGuy Hyundai/kia also uses this connector, and they go one quirk better, they flip the yellow and red, red being constant hot and yellow being switched, had me stumped for a bit on that one. Best bet is when installing a headunit is get the factory wiring diagram, you might have to pay $10~20 but well worth it.
@@DIYAudioGuy The form of the connector ist standardized. The Pinout is too - it is actually VAG (Volkswagen Audi Group) that started the "let's switch the power pins" stuff. A lot of people burned out their ignition key contacts when the radio was pulling its current through that contact ^^ (Blaupunkt was delivering the radios for them, iirc, so maybe it also was a Blaupunkt thing. Lots of japanese manufacturers, JVC and Clarion p.ex, had connectors in their iso harness so you could swap yellow/red without using tools). But the pinout for the speakers and most other things is standardized. It is more about the form of the connectors, similar to the OBD2 connector: Form = standard, protocol = individual to the manufacturer. Apart from emissions relevant stuff. The upside is: If you have an iso connector in your old car you can take out the head unit and put it in your next without a problem.
I'm thinking of buying the 2gb unit for my 2000 tundra work truck. What do you think. I bought the truck for $600 I'm not spending $600 for the head unit. Do you think the 2gb unit will be okay?
I have a $200 eonon head unit in my car The Q67pro and this head unit has very very good performance I would say comparable to a mid to high end phone And I am a person who have used phones for every price point so that would translate to android radios My radio is minimum in the case of ram/storage imo Make sure when buying one of these they have at least 3gb ram 32gb storage but 4/64 is optimal 10/10 would buy again XDD It's actually better than most radios you can get for that price tbh imo
They sent it out to me, so I didn't have to spend any money to make the video. I feel guilty trashing their product after they were kind enough to send me one for free.
I thought my cheap JVC was bargain bin but at least it does the most important thing ok. Play music. I think you hit the nail on the head. Most people will use their phones for things like GPS especially if the radio is horribly slow. This will be a hard pass for me.
It's really unfortunate. I don't particularly enjoy giving negative reviews, I'm not generally a negative person. I would love to check out some of their higher end stuff, but this one just tried to do too much of the wrong thing at that price point.
I'd like you to have done the DD1 to see when the head unit starts to distort, but yeah most headunits aren't great but you are getting a lot for that money, especially a touch screen at that size. You'd be hard pushed to find a branded unit anywhere near it.
Joying and t’eyes also makes some attractive unit. 4-6gb ram and up to 128gb memory. Makes for some speedy unit. My joying warm boot is bout a second. Preamp rcas is about 2.5v.
I've had a few friends buy these units and we installed them in a mustang and a couple of chevy trucks they didnt fit any dash kit we had to do to much modifications to get them to fit😂😂 I told them next time JVC or Pioneer👍🎵
I am sure that there are good ones out there on the market, but they are hit and miss. Why take a chance? A few bucks more and you can get a Boss touchscreen that would at least fit and work properly.
@@DIYAudioGuy Yep your right that Dual brand double din touch screen at walmart is a very nice unit we've had it in a truck at work for a year and no problems👍
I have one of those Android head units , and the way I got around running more amps is I patched the single RCA through my DSP and then used my computer too configure the 2 channel input too 5 channels out . The cool thing about that deck is you could change the output Signal through RCA too 15 watts , but I would not advise that !!!
@@theejoeylee That's what I get for using speech to text to reply to comments. It somehow missed the knot part. You are exactly right, but you're looking for $100 head unit you are not running a DSP.
this is quad-core processor @ 1 - 2gb ram. u need that octa-core processor @ 2 - 8gb ram for better responsive like high end android phone. not just smoother google map, but also can play higher graphic video games 😅 with DSP built-in ☑️
ISO connections are standard in most of Europe and various other countries around the world. Every brand of aftermarket head unit, big branded and Chinese, all have an ISO connector when you buy them here. You then buy looms which include a CANbus decoder that go between the factory connector in any car with ISO plugs on the other side. That makes it a very, very simple plug and play situation to install ANY head unit. Why most of the USA is still splicing individual wires is completely beyond me
That's what I gathered when I was researching this video. What I can't seem to figure out is if there is a standard pin pattern for the ISO plug. Just looking at pictures and diagrams online this one does not seem to be pinned the same as some of the others out there.
@@DIYAudioGuy yeah it's a standard pin pattern, never changes. As you mentioned in the video, one half of the ISO has the speakers and the other half has the power ect. Some cars swap the permanant live and ignition live yellow and red cables
I am a professional installer and in my opinion it’s very difficult to install them because they are oversized than a standard double din then I have to alter the kit, also it’s a pain to mount the radio since it doesn’t it doesn’t have a chassis to use the mounting screws
Nice review. I would like to use this simply as a screen with rca input. How do you switch to rca video input and will it automatically stay on the video input after turning car off and back on
@15:52... omg! rotflmao! 🤣 ... Another great honest and clear review. All information I would want to have in order to make an informed buying decision. It may not have worked out for this company but others need to send you some. How it works, connects, interface function, feature abilities. All must knows to spend your hard earned money wisely. Thanks Justin!
I don't enjoy giving bad reviews. I feel a little guilty doing that after this company sent me the unit, but if I tell people that it's a good product when it's not then I will lose my credibility.
Blue wires and why 2 of them. One fir amplifier turn on, and the other for a power or powered antenna. Some OEM antenna are amplified and require a power switch to turn on with the radio
You should see if you can get a Teyes CC3 ..it has a DSP and optical out. I think Dasaita & joying do as well. Also try to " contact" them w questions to see what happens.
Uh oh I already did lol and it's been such a pain in the butt. I bought an android unit from China specifically and it goes against everything I've ever learned about installing radios and subs. Every single wire is different than you think it would be. I've had to just cut try repair and try again every time I've hooked something up to it. Back up camera Amp remote wire Speaker inputs. Everything comes from a different wire than you'd expect and is labeled like a poor Chinese to English translation as you'd expect lmao
I'm sorry to hear that. I wish more people would see this video. I would like to spare people the pain of having to experience a crappy product for themselves.
You said the radio looks like a network button. It looks like a wifi button ...wich is the symbol for radio ..network symbols look like three screens with lines connecting them
Still seems like a mustang to my pioneer 3800 and 500exs being a geo metro. Put foobar2000 on it, and it'd smoke my pioneer double dins. Is the rca output a decent clean 2v? This plus say the pioneer deq s1000 or even the dayton dsp, that'd be perfect!
Yeah, this would be a fun toy to play with if you wanted to download a new operating system and do some hacking. I wonder if it's possible to bypass that stupid surround sound feature. Maybe run all four channels into a kicker key?
@@DIYAudioGuy If that surround sound feature bugs out, I'd probably just run two channels to a kicker key or any other dsp. Pretty much let it do the work from there. If the outputs clean, something like this is perfect for me. Foobar2000 has its own 18 band equalizer, and works well on low end hardware. Just the average person who hooks speakers up to their headunit, ah I'd throw this IN THE BIN!
units like this and the MP5 unit that's advertised everywhere is great for video however for audio please For the Love of All That's holy look someplace else!
That's a plain and simple tablet with 2 cores and 1.3 ... and that's an entry lvl. For 100 bucks you can't ask for more. Before buy something you should check what does it have and check for the reviews, that's a good indication. Don't buy the first one, and before bash that item you should reach the manufacturer for info on it and if there's a better version. And then you can make a good review on the entry lvl but if you want to buy there's a more good version. About the sound quality, never mind that, inside a car the sound moves different, and most of the head units sell today they need an external amplifier.
They reached out to me and asked me to do an unpaid review, I let them know that if the item was of low quality it would get a negative review, they sent this to me anyways. They could have just as easily sent me their top of the line version, but they didn't. I gave this unit an honest review with my honest opinions.
Lots of people get these trash units bc of their features and price. But what I find with them is they lack on the stereo adjustment features, and overall just kind of sound bad! Get the best Pioneer you can afford and you won't be disappointed.
My thoughts exactly. I am bummed that this video has not done very well. No telling how many people are ordering one of these to give as disappointing Christmas gifts to their teenage nephew that want's a new car stereo.
@@DIYAudioGuy Yeah these are all using the same motherboard on the back that contains the android SOC chip + amplifier. You can get a 10 inch screen as well. BUT the problem is some of these are shipping with fake specifications!!! They say they are 2gb ram and it shows up in settings BUT they edited the settings menu to show that. When in reality they only have 1gb. I got scammed by this but luckily I got a full refund and kept the device. You can flash different roms from different stereos using the same chip but you need to make sure you have the same rom size + ram configuration. I have one in my car but purely use it with a iphone carplay dongle. Carplay is basically streaming a video feed from your iphone and putting it on the screen, so it uses the power of my phone instead of the crap CPU and ram on the headunit. The "surround" setting doesn't exist on my headunit, not sure what they were smoking when they made the firmware on yours. It treats back right and front right as the same channel, same goes for left side. Mine also came with a backup camera and I use it all the time.
@@SeMr7en I really pissed of Essgoo with my video. Honestly, I would have given it a decent review if it were not for that crappy "surround" function, worthless equalizer, the inability to change the default music player and the lack of a mirror app in the app store. I expected a slow device at that price point. It is basically unusable as a radio unless you replace the firmware. If I were a computer/tech channel I would do that. But that is not what I do. I need the radio to function right out of the box.
@@DIYAudioGuy I've put in a few dozen of these "white box" units, not a single one was standard double din size, they were always a little bigger, for the ones with out a volume knob they were usable, but every single dash kit needed some trimming to get these to some what fit, if you want a more flush mount be prepared for some router trimming
Sort of like buying the cheapest 10 year old specked Windows computer hardware and be surprised it runs slow with all Windows 11 O/S and products along not very capable with newer web sites that have high resolution advertisements, newer games studder and have to be played at lower resolutions and wonder why it takes so long to accomplish anything. I did try a sub $200 low resolution Android head unit 5 years ago it worked better than expected with an added Amp for the first few years, plus it integrated with a recording dash cam, a backup camera, phone connectivity for navigation and hands free, and provided 0DB2 on screen diagnostics where I could put up extra instruments that my instrument panel didn't have - none of that stuff was available on that 12 year old car model when it came out. Though the screen was 10 inches it was too low of resolution. It too had those thin conductor wires which after opening it up and adding things to it over the years caused failures simply because the wire harnesses wouldn't hold up to being unplugged and plugged back in too many times though it still functions in that old car I had to combine two of the 5 channels because the work the redo the harness with those thin wires is not worth my time and it's an old car I'm getting rid of. Just like buying any electronics you can't go cheapy cheap because you get what you pay for or in your case what you don't. I just installed a $400 8 core Android Head Unit with 8 Gb of Ram and 128 Rom and it works fine while the plugs and wire conductors are as good or better than anything on the market, but even then you still have to customize it with the apps you prefer. Best of all though the better units support both CarPlay and Android Auto both wired and wireless - thus in time when the head unit becomes more obsolete you can just rely on your solid Android or iPhone connection since on average we replace them every 3 years. My unit even comes with a SIM adapter so if I wanted to add a $10 line and sim card to my phone account I wouldn't even have to rely on using my phone to tether for an Internet connection. Yes new car head units include nearly the same connectivity, but not everyone is buying new cars and my 7 year old car stereo did support CarPlay but not Android Auto for my Sony Xperia phone and the car models two years newer (2019 models and newer) only supported USB wired Android Auto not wireless. I considered JVC and other name brand head units and discovered to get an equivalent size and resolution screen name brand JVC unit is about 1k plus another several hundred for install kits, Can bus adapters for steering wheel controls and other proper harnesses, so that's $1500 plus tax before you even consider an Amp and speakers. If you have the money and no programing skills go with traditional name brands but know the entry point is going to be 1k + for the same end results. Know that there are decent Android Head Units, but to make the interface as satisfactory you will have to put in the time to customize their programming but they are actually easier and less expensive to install for the same or better end product.
Well, they sent me the unit to review -- so it is more like sending out cheap units to review and then everybody seems to act shocked when it gets a negative review.
Essgoo did not think so, they asked me to take it down. They even started to jump in the comment section, but they deleted their comments before I had a chance to trash them even more.
Yup, I bought one a while back. Barely enough watts to power a 3.5” speaker on its own. Connected through rca’s, it isn’t enough signal for an amplifier either… shame. Decent features for the buck but not for speakers nor amplifiers
I never got around to doing any legitimate power tests of the unit because it was such a garbage user interface. Essgoo was unhappy, they even ask me to take the video down. But apparently they have a short memory, they just emailed me again, asking me to review another product.
Well I agree, noname chinese Android car stereos are junk. I bought for my old car a cheap JVC and boy, 4x50w channels, separate sub signal output and it got a very configurable dsp inside. The sub channel got an old 400w sony amplifier hidden under the dashboad, and a Kicker comp rt 12" in the trunk which is really slim, so it barely takes any space. And that sub with the passive radiator is quite powerful
This is why I don't like Android. (Used it all my life so I'm all too familiar with crap Android experience) When done right though they are amazing. But all too often they are just junk. And I feel like most Android head units fall in the junk category. (I hope I don't trigger someone by saying this, I didn't say they ALL are) 7:32 haha I live near Five Star Car Stereo and I could probably drive there faster than that unit could give directions.
I've had a few garbage Android tablets, cheap ones that I got for my children when they were young. When it's good it's good, but when it's bad it's horrible.
I don't know that Android would have actually been the problem. One of the reasons a lot of these cheaper manufacturers use Android is because they don't have to pay royalties like they would if they were to use any type of iOS. To the root of its core Android is still open source. If they actually had to pay Apple to use iOS the point of making a cheap head unit would be null and void. Plus, let's add the fact that Apple accounts for approximately 20% of the cell phone market meaning 80% of the people that buy this are going to be Android users.
@@Carl_Jr That's exactly the thing. The fact that they cheap out that much and make an unusable user experience is why I'm tired of Android and don't like it anymore. All too often with Android there's always somewhere they cheaped out on. Don't get me wrong I'm not mindlessly bashing on Android. This comes from using Android for 10+ years. Only recently have I switched to Apple and I wasn't saying anything about Apple in my main post. Apple has its fair share of issues that makes them just as bad as Android in some areas. I'm not trying to mindlessly fanboy about a single OS. We're talking about a head unit here so iOS isn't really related as there's no head unit running an Apple OS.
@@JoshM7 Right. I was just pointing out why they probably chose to use Android. I don't think Android is the problem, though, with this unit. It's just this unit. Android really wasn't designed for this purpose. On the flip side I'll be the first to admit, Android Auto sucks! LoL. Apple CarPlay is far superior.
What does that writing (written in pencil on the makeshift plywood desk) supposed to say? Copper Finale? Copper Finial? Copper Female? Because “Copper Fenale” doesn’t mean anything due to the fact that “Fenale” isn’t a word. 😜😂
I write notes to myself on my workbench. Which wire did I crimp the female spade connector to? Can't remember? Write it down. You will also see ohms law in silver sharpie. I did not put a finish on the workbench so I can just sand it off when it gets to cluttered.
@@clarkspiemuncher24 I don't think that was the main factor. The real issue was the user interface and the crappy rear channels which acted like surround channels in a home theater. I just dropped a video on a much better head unit. th-cam.com/video/x_DCc865tec/w-d-xo.html

(Blaupunkt was delivering the radios for them, iirc, so maybe it also was a Blaupunkt thing.

I have a $200 eonon head unit in my car
The Q67pro
and this head unit has very very good performance
I would say comparable to a mid to high end phone
And I am a person who have used phones for every price point so that would translate to android radios
My radio is minimum in the case of ram/storage imo
Make sure when buying one of these they have at least 3gb ram 32gb storage but 4/64 is optimal
10/10 would buy again XDD
It's actually better than most radios you can get for that price tbh imo
Best value for money product...no doubt about it!!!
It ain't slow 😂🤣‼ Thanks for taking one for the team great video!
I was going to grab my oscilloscope and see where it clipped, but after going through all the various features I did not see the point.
Joying and t’eyes also makes some attractive unit. 4-6gb ram and up to 128gb memory. Makes for some speedy unit. My joying warm boot is bout a second. Preamp rcas is about 2.5v.

Nothing sucks worse than going through all the trouble to install one of these things and then it not work.
I have one of those Android head units , and the way I got around running more amps is I patched the single RCA through my DSP and then used my computer too configure the 2 channel input too 5 channels out . The cool thing about that deck is you could change the output Signal through RCA too 15 watts , but I would not advise that !!!
Most people that are in the market for $100 head unit will be using a DSP.
@@DIYAudioGuy I think most people with a $100 budget Will NOT be using a DSP...heck most of people at the entry point don't even know what a DSP is!
@@theejoeylee That's what I get for using speech to text to reply to comments. It somehow missed the knot part. You are exactly right, but you're looking for $100 head unit you are not running a DSP.

this is quad-core processor @ 1 - 2gb ram. u need that octa-core processor @ 2 - 8gb ram for better responsive like high end android phone. not just smoother google map, but also can play higher graphic video games 😅 with DSP built-in ☑️
Thanks for the info., I am not up to speed on computer hardware.

The screen is too small for video.
@@DIYAudioGuy so if they sent you a low quality product, not your problem. Nevertheless it was a good review.
Lots of people get these trash units bc of their features and price. But what I find with them is they lack on the stereo adjustment features, and overall just kind of sound bad! Get the best Pioneer you can afford and you won't be disappointed.
Even a brand like boss is going to perform better than most of these.
Honestly I would say a $65-$100-$150 you would be better off with a dual electronics or a Boss audio double din stereo system?!
Those radios are huge and don't fit in most dash kits without major modifications. I stopped installing them a long time ago
This one looks to be double DIN, but this company sells some that look a little bigger.
Nice video though sir!!

7:32 haha I live near Five Star Car Stereo and I could probably drive there faster than that unit could give directions.
@@Carl_Jr For sure man.
@@JoshM7 Right. I was just pointing out why they probably chose to use Android. I don't think Android is the problem, though, with this unit. It's just this unit. First of all, as an employee of ESSGOO, he did not introduce you clearly to the product, which caused you to have a bad experience and spread it, and did not answer your doubts in time. This is unacceptable, so follow-up is required.
Second, the good products you mentioned have positioned. . I know that a $3,000 Apple phone is better than a $2,000 Android phone, but this does not mean that a $2,000 Android phone is a bad product. On the contrary, many people choose a $2,000 phone for various reasons. Your video also mentions the price of our products. If you compare other car stereos with more than $300, our products do have shortcomings.
(Of course, if you want more than 300 US dollars of products, I can also provide them, we have customized services, you list what you need, I can give you a quote - I have confidence in ESSGOO's research and development capabilities)
Third, the very nouns mentioned in your video can only be achieved by the combination of more equipment. This product can function as a ‘controller’. This product is indeed an entry-level, if customers need master-level sound effects, they need to match other equipment.
Fourth, this is a general-purpose device that can adapt to most models, and it is an Android system. It can download many apps, including music/sound effects/control panel; even the desktop/theme can be replaced, and there are many functions (this is also The negligence of the contact person, did not introduce clearly)
