I have a 2011 Terrain V6 3.0L DOHC, only 42,000 miles but was just investigating at what mileage I need to have the timing chain replaced, wasn't even sure if it had a belt or chain. How many miles is the chain supposed to be replaced at? Thanks so much for this video.
good video I hve a 2013 gmc terrain with 2.4 4cyl ecotec question about the Ecotec timing chain install When I first start up the car It sounds like a boat motor but then goes away in about five seconds I'm pretty sure it's a stretch timing chain or bad guides, some videos show the timing marks and all that but do you have to put the engine in top dead center before you even install the timing chains and balancers and all that
hello my brother plz can you tell the problam why did you change it ? because i have some problems and my has really bad noise from Terrain Timing and its has stop the car 2 times ????
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS VIDEO!! helped me keep my 2011 GMC going. I didn't realize this car had so many engine issues when i bought it.

Mileage isn't the big issue. Most of the time it is maintenance, oil changes and all.
@@professorlugnut Thanks. so if that's the case, how does one know when it needs to be replaced? what are the signs to look for?
@@moondancer334Usually they either make noise rattle etc. I've seen factory chains go bad as early as 30k miles and also seen them last 200k.

question about the Ecotec timing chain install

Before you remove the chains make sure all the marks are in the locations in the video. it will be at top dead center on cylinder 1.
Sweet
Could crankshaft and camshaft correlation codes be caused by a faulty timing chain or components
Yes a stretched chain could cause those codes or the phasers stuck, where the computer doesn't know exactly where they are.

timing chain was rattling and throwing codes.
@Proflugnut 1 will you post the link where you got the parts please sir
Do you have have cylinder heads resurfaced when timing chain jumped ?
If chains jump it probably will have bent valves, and broken rocker arms.
Where did you purchase this kit
I bought it from a company that sells on eBay.
