Just had this happen. I could have sworn it was a worn belt from the noise but the plugs were charged not long before the squeak started. Dealership torqued them to spec and it went away
So, my driver side cam jumped past the marks after I took the belt off, in my infinite wisdom I thought to just turn it around the same direction until it was straight again, well about 3/4 of the way it got really tight and Wouldnt go by hand any further, I haven’t put any real pressure out of fear of really messing up, so in my panic I figured I should turn the other side too so they were even and now both cams have gone a full turn but not the crankshaft, am I SOL?
So I just changed that, and is it still blowing cold? What else could be the problem? If it still blows cold on one side and not the Other?
What a stupid set up by kia
To remove the bypass valve is it best to get it from underneath the car as opposed to topside?
Thank you for this video, I followed step by step what you did and everything was fine, but I don’t know where the resistance of the air fan motor is located, did you make that video?
Mine comes loose I swear every other week since I changed to a ported intake manifold.. it’s so damn annoying
Not the blend door, that's the blend door actuator...
The top driver side cam looks a tooth off maybe its just the perspective
Nice Bro, BUT how check it on on the engeen in the car ))) 3 day ago I started this " tvist dansing" with my Suba ))))
Thanks for equiping us with that knowledge always
Thank you for the great video, Saved me by showing to remove the extra trim, or I'd still be under the dash.
Awesome
Hey, thanks for the video. Doing my timing chain, and this helps a lot
I have a 2011 Terrain V6 3.0L DOHC, only 42,000 miles but was just investigating at what mileage I need to have the timing chain replaced, wasn't even sure if it had a belt or chain. How many miles is the chain supposed to be replaced at? Thanks so much for this video.
Mileage isn't the big issue. Most of the time it is maintenance, oil changes and all.
@@professorlugnut Thanks. so if that's the case, how does one know when it needs to be replaced? what are the signs to look for?
@@moondancer334Usually they either make noise rattle etc. I've seen factory chains go bad as early as 30k miles and also seen them last 200k.
What happens if you turn the key on before you plug everything
Nothing, small possibility you could blow a fuse.
Hello, my camry 2003 makes a clicking noise at the glove appartment. heat etc. is ok. the fan is also ok, Would it be the climate control switch. it starts al ready when ignition key is turn on, white out running motor of inside fan. thanks J Dijk, the Netherlands
Could be the recirculate door
شكرأ جزيلاً...
Very welcome
Thanks for this video I always wondered about the inner workings of a VVT sprocket.I came acroos this same problem serviceing a replacement engine for my 2011 Buick Regal with LAF engine After assembly the exhaust cam came up 180 degrees off even though the timing marks all aligned ! Lucky nothing got damaged before I caught it !
At 10:15 what did you do to break the break free from the wire? What tool was that?
Part number anyone?
What's the part number
Much appreciation to you my friend. Just echoing the praises of other messages as your video was vital to replacing my blower motor on my 2016. I live in Texas and no a/c might as well be a dead sentence lol. You saved me a $800 on labor. Video was perfect. Took me about 3 hours only cause I hit a snag unplugging that dumb blower connection. But all and all I'm stoked. Thanks again
I came to comment and say THANK YOU!!! Sure enough, the same wire harness was unplugged, and it was just in the shop for recent service! I was also throwing a P0300 and P0420, but those codes are also permanently gone! Thank you, sir - I appreciate the short and helpful video!
Blood I just bought the charge air bypass for my Cruze Eco because it read Turbo Bypass Valve stuck. So what I was sent appears to be the the waste gate valve...help anyone
Charge air bypass is under the manifold should be the same solenoid
@@professorlugnut honestly, at 204K I am considering... putting a V6 in there. A Impala V6, because GM has a crate engine for $3,000 inline 4 w/ 255hp, and I will be dead at that point
Most have heat problem. I hear mine clicking continuously at coolest temp. Sounds like actuator internal problem.
Anyone have the part number? I can't find....
Better videos online of doing this. No need to take door runner cover off or the kick plate. Just glove box and use 90 degree Phillips screw driver.
Glove box was removed for ease of access and to be able to see what you are doing.
What a terrible place to put a solenoid. Nice hot spot, and hard to get to.....very GM of them to do that. Thanks for helping us locate it.
That's a dying procedure these days
Yes sir it is!!
Thank you. This has been helpful!
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you, mine was disconnected. I plugged it in, but so far the code hasn’t gone away. I’ll try again tomorrow, maybe the plug didn’t seat well. I hope so at least. I pulled the engine to replace the clutch and fix oil leaks and forgot to plug this connector in.
It may take a few key cycles to clear. Unless you clear it with a scanner.
did you test the blower to see if it had power before replacing? i have a 2017 soul and i tested the resistor for power and it has no power at any of the terminals. the fuses looked good for blower and a/c. no speed setting worked usually resister will still blow on high if it goes bad
Have you looked at a wiring diagram?
Decided to take the blower out and it must have been stuck because as soon as I started to pull it out after taking screws out it started to spin since I had on setting 2.🤷🏿♂️
Probably the brushes being worn out and when you bumped it the brushes made contact and started working. Needs new blower motor for sure.
Alignment is fucked
Many thanks to you, I suffered with this error for a very long time, the connector was simply disconnected. you saved a lot of money for people
Did you make sure the metal piece was there to hold it in place?
Whoa there partner, you almost stabbed us!!!
😂😂 yeah sorry about that was in a hurry!!
My 2020 Buick Enclave 3.6 VVT engine cam phaser failed at 68K miles. And yes I changed the oil with the proper recommended oil regularly.
There are some that fail early. And some that last way longer.
What was the mileage on that?
@@mambi74mileage was 135k
What hold the solenoid on
It's triple clipped to the intake manifold, it's almost impossible to swap without removing the manifold
Hey mate, what are the torque settings on the five phaser bolts?
Not sure if they are available anywhere. I will have to check and see if I can find out.
@@professorlugnut That would be great mate. I can't seem to find the information anywhere
I replaced the timing chain on my 2010 Equinox with the 2.4. When it gets warm and I go to stop, I have to two foot it. One foot on the brake and the other to keep the idle up. I replaced the VVT solenoids and I get a code dor the exhaust every now and then. Could my issue be in the phasers since I didnt replace them? Thanks for the great info.
Yes, it could be getting stuck. So the cam phaser gives you the smooth idle and power of a performance cam. When it doesn't return to the smooth idle it's like you have the loopy idle of a performance camshaft.
@@professorlugnut I forgot to add that whens it's being stupid, it sounds like the old Volkswagen diesel at idle. I appreciate your time. Thank you
@@VRMN8R yes like am old school v8 with a performance camshaft.
Great job....
Good video. Where did you get the part from? Thank you
Think it was from toyota. This part is hard to find aftermarket.
Blessings, i see you said the drivers side is bad and i saw another mechanic with a 2004 camry same issue temperature up or down is cold air he changed the right side i have a 2004 Camry please help im confused what side thank you
Depends on what side is mot changing temperature.
Thank you -thank you. Video was perfect and you saved me a grand. You got me started and than I had to watch again. Twice I don’t know how it could have been better.
Glad it helped!
Hi brady here again - I spent 10 min and took the driver’s front seat out first-my body old than got in on my back and bought some new head lamps. The resistor that I first put in on the other side was orange and was not the same as the geen one that came out-well that had to be changed out to the the green one for all to work Thanks again Took me only one beer and 2 hours Next 1 hour
Would it be very helpful to disconnect the battery cables? Or have you already mentioned that?
Use a bent tip needle nose plier on the motor connector plug is my only add So I followed your guide through got the blower changed and speed resistor changed out. You're awesome guy for sharing this guide 👍
Great video, very helpful. These instructions are accurate for 2016 model kia soul as well. The resistor is on the other side behind the glove box. Also the plug connecting to my original blower was melted or stuck and took a lot of prying to release. I caused a bit of cosmetic damage to the plug but it still connected to the new blower an worked. The slide bolts on the brake bracket were very difficult to access with regular tools and I ended up using small ratchet key. Other than that I was able to complete everything with just a basic socket set and screwdriver. Took me 5 hours... saved 700 dollars. Worth it.
When the connector is melted or broken and i can’t find a replacement i just connect the wires with with but connectors
Ngl the floor feels like the sky just looking at it for a long time but it’s not blue😅
Never saw it that way. It definitely looks like clouds
9 dollars from Amazon
Hey gang, i missed where the relay was changed?
The resistor is behind the glove box on the other side.
Exactly what I was trying to figure out, kinda pointless to end the video without changing it.
Thank you so much for the video I finish my wife's car 2004 toyota camry....in 40 mins...🙋🏻♂️
You win! took me 2 hours on our 2004 Camry. This video saved me. I got it the part off, but could not get it together until I saw how ProFlungNut took the dash apart.
