This is pretty amazing although to be truthful, I almost had a heart attack when you started hacking away at the top portion. I loved that you used a lemon cypress as they are one of my favorite plants to use as topiary so I was very interested to see how to carry that process further to create the bonsai. I will be trying this in the very near future. Please post more!
Me too. I was like oh nooooo but the end result was nice. I can't do this to my current baby I am already attached but Walmart has a sale for $9.99 indoor cypress so I will give this a shot and let you all know how it turned out :)
I’m currently starting a bonsai and looking for someone that has used this particular cypress as I’m from Monterey California. I used to drive my brother to work at Pebble Beach, going on 17 mile drive. Always loved the Lone Cypress. Now that I’m retired I have the time and resources to try to create a bonsai version of it. It’s been a year now how did it turn out? Are there pictures? BTW my daughter and 2 granddaughters live in England.
I live in the tropics(India). I got a small Cypress last week and did the potting, didn't do any pruning though, because I didn't wanna stress the tree too much, or else it could die. It's doing good so far.
Lovely creation! I came across one of these today at my local nursery and picked it up along with a dwarf Pomegranate and a Cotoneaster. Unfortunately it's discouraging after doing a fair bit of research it seems these trees are very tricky to keep alive. How is yours fairing today?
El ciprés limón es una especie muy delicada, y por mi experiencia ese pobre plantón no durará mucho, fue muy agresivo el procedimiento aplicado, también me gustaría ver el futuro, en caso lo tuviera.
This is really awesome i was looking for something like this I'm thinking of putting one in with my frog would be nice i haven't done so because, i was told they can't be kept as bonsai since they like to grow when they get older, but if this becomes a success I'll try it out thanks man for the vid and hope it succeeds
@@projectsoil9697 no problem, ill be a daily viewer to check out your next bonsais and progress on how there going really like your content vert relaxing i wish i could learn from you ha and really what didn't know that or else i would have gotten it, probably the lady didn't know about bonsais or didn't want me to have one of her plants like that haha
Hi Alessandro... you can buy bonsai wire of different strengths from eBay/Amazon but it's costly. I got this wire from a plant shop near me, mainly for normal plant and tree management
I'd love to see what this tree looks like now!
I love the smell of these lemon cent trees 🌲
I admire your confidence in posting this on You Tube. If you enjoyed pruning and repotting it, then that should be okay, I suppose.

Did you bare root it ?
Would be interesting to see what becomes of it in 2 years time!
He definitely should do a 2 year later video when the time comes.

merveilleuse musique 👍
Thank you for watching
Did you cut the tip?
How often does a cypress bonsai like this need to be watered?
Isnt it dry now? My dry out after 2 months.
Nice! Is there any new growth on it yet?
Nice! I'd like to see how it's looking now

Thanks mate. I hope so too, fast growing plants are generally easier to maintain as bonsai

Bonsai should be illegal for some people
Why bonsai is about enjoyment
Bonsai is not about people, it's about trees, enjoyment is irrelevant
I just laughed so hard at the result of the tree and your comment
Anda si le echa hasta colonia pa que huela bien jajajaja
@@Moiccyes, saw the end result then looked down and read that.....😂😂😂.
This Cypress has a very beautiful shade of light green.
It smells like lemon tree whilst pruning. Very strange

Is it still alive?
Hi Alex, yes it is still alive :) may take a year or so so normalise into the new shape.
