Today, let's dive into Genshin Impact voice lines and see who knows about the Traveler's History; their abilities, their interstellar capacities, and their connection with Khaenriah. This was also a test edit on my new sound waves generator and a new Format that I definitely want to do. I'm currently studying the Archon Quest and the Chasm which is going to take a while in all honesty.
ON A SIDE NOTE: I just can't add some because it'll be too long of a video.
I do definitely think characters like ROSARIA, DILUC, KOKOMI, and other characters that are known to be strategical and wise also know about the Traveler's history. There just isn't any open voicelines about it, very pepega sadge.

If the above is true, what happened to their home? How many worlds did they go through? How powerful are they? How did they know how to travel between worlds?
So many questions, yet little to no answers..
Kind of sounds like Honkai making those stars to find a new home without Honkai 👀

Since Ayato is now added to the rooster, his voiceline "More about Ayato", he seems to KNOW that the Traveller is not from here. Let me put you the dialogue here.

Yea! I was just about to mention that! Honestly I’m very curious as to how he figured it out.
I also wonder, would the traveller actually tell him anything of actual value, or would they dance around the subject, telling a rather lighthearted story instead? Hmm.
Dang it ever since I heard this voiceline it has low-key been driving me crazy, especially since we have NO RESPONSE, LIKE WHY, I wanna know what the traveller would say. :,)

@@frederikrana2075 true, but like the traveller has never said anything relating to the worlds they traveled to in any of the inazuma voicelines they have if I remember correctly. They’re always secretive & quite vague most of the time, which is why I’m curious. They’ve only mentioned these things in the mondstadt & liyue voicelines in game, and even when talking to Paimon they’re often vague & give one off minor details most of the time. So unless the shuumatsuban isn’t native to just inazuma, when & how exactly did he figure that out is what I’m interested in. If it was the shuumatsuban however, then what were they eavesdropping on?
He could’ve heard something from kazuha as they seem to be in contact. Or just curious about the travelers childhood?

Despite being the protagonist,the Traveler is the most mysterious.
Despite the cracking the lores of the other characters, the traveller's past is the most difficult to crack
I think Yae Miko also knows the unknown god's story with the traveler since at the end of the archon quest she says something like 'Now that you've met Ei you can be sure that she is not the god you're looking for?' or something like that
i don't think that's what she meant. just only that ei, having a completely different circumstances and history, does not meet the traveler's description of the unknown god

The traveler just needs to use Bennett as their good luck charm. Keep him near an archon or Dain and they will eventually slip up and say something.
Assuming nothing crazy happens before that.
Also, Bennet has to be awake to cause chaos.

somebody points out that even though we named our MC, the abyss twin will call us by our MC's canon name. So that means the MC travels teyvat with a fake name-- the name that we, the players, gave them.
And secrecy about our personal identity is a common sense for if we are stranded on an unknown land. But at the same time the MC doesnt seem to be that secretive either. When albedo concluded that MC is an alien, they just confirmed it right away.
Idk but MC is always the most mysterious and interesting to me. Same with the history of the abyss twin.

I think the Traveller is less "secretive", and more "doesn't want to look like Fishl, who is constantly bragging about her origins".
The only thing hurt me the most in wings of descension traveler mention a parental figure who uses to love them and treat twins very gently to the point twins memory of their guardian is gone but they truly want to remember that person. It is the first time they express such deep emotions for someone other than their own sibling or teppei death. God, it hurt to read how the cloth as memento given is a simple cloth but travelers still carry it all their journey and use it occasion when things become heavy for them and sort of give emotional comfort. That guardian was the one who send them in their journey to the stars and gosh the abyss sibling must have the same cloth

Ah yes, one of the aspects I adore about the Traveler. Their the biggest mystery hidden in plain sight. In a world of wonder, we do not give a second thought to the one who explores it on our behalf even though we are but witnesses to their journey. Closest to the ones around them, but it is never going to be the case vice versa.
Still... the requirement to unlock the second story is "Loom of Fate"
I get the feeling we need to go to fucking Khaenri'ah just to read the Traveler's second story. Deadass thats in like- four years at least???

The traveler is like a good listener to every character but they never speak more about themselves. Their empathy towards people is always there. Remember when the traveler first came in Inazuma they didn’t want to get involve to the nations conflict but when they accept Ayaka’s suggestion and have seen the dark things that is happening in the vision hunt decree, the goal of the traveler’s once again is side tracked(Not like the traveler have any choice)
They are a “witness” after all.

I don’t think they are mortal but rather immortal, they can literally tank judgement cut lite unscathed as if it was a Monday.
you mean invincible. They are Immortal alone from the fact that Aether/Lumine or just Traveler slept 500yrs without needing any nutrition and woke up like it was only one day in his life. From that alone, we know that they are immortal. If they can tank pretty much everything that would make them invincible.
@@gr4vityjuli4n Yeah there’s confusion when it comes to the word immortal although it’s pretty much self explanatory it’s just all over the place these days. I’ll give some examples, if you can’t age or die of old age then you have infinite longevity but can die from pretty much anything, if nothing can harm you even poison or even gods then you’re invincible but you could probably die from old age, if you cannot die at all you’re immortal but harm can be inflicted on you just like the Greek Gods and if you can’t die or be harmed you’re both immortal and invincible.

One thing I kinda find interesting is that of all the characters, Xinyan does know that the traveler is from another world
In her voice line "About Us: Kindred Spirits" she says it directly: "... So you're not from this world, and that's why you don't care for its rules. ..."
I wouldn't expect a more minor character like her to know that, it's kinda neat

Alternatively, maybe Traveller told Xinyan since they trust her, which lead to her voiceline. Since she doesn't have anything special, unless she's good at observation.

It would cool as hell if it turns out Traveler is a false human/a product of a higher form of Alchemy given a human form from stars. Sent as observers/Travelers through worlds/dimensions in pursuit of a goal

They are perfected beings, but how and who created them? why were they not able to save their world? are there ppl stronger than them or is it a time messing thing where in they come from the future to alter the past? It’s interesting how much more Yae seems to know than Ei. Ei kinda assumes the traveler is mortal whereas Yae can immediately distinguish them from humans.

There a few characters who *probably* know even if we don't have any proof. Peirro at the very least probably knows the Traveller is connected to Khaenri'ah and thus the Tsarista most likely does as well, even if they haven't shared that info with the rest of the Harbingers. Additionally, Alice is more likely to have met the twins on a different world than she is to have no idea who or what they are.

[spoiler] I didn't realise the traveller's perceived divinity in the eyes of common people until the newest world quest series Valor's Afterglow. Following the end of time-gated quests, a mortal in her farewell letter makes the traveller's attention a correspondence of gods' gaze when contemplating if the mortals can ever live up like the chosen of gods in teyvat. This idea shocked me since beyond the fourth wall I, as a player, never equated the traveller's godly powers (in lore) as divinity. Given genshin means original god and the traveller's character description, perhaps we are witnessing the becoming of savior god of teyvat after all. It's such a belated realisation for me. Plus, I would love to see a biblically-accurate-seraph-looking traveller.
As someone who can control the elements, she thought the traveler has a vision which is equivalent to the god's gaze. She contemplates, as someone without a vision, a mere mortal, are they worthless in the eyes of the gods since they're not chosen?
Her name is unpronounceable and un spellable. But her lines were so deep as the Chasm I didn't make any effort remembering her words. Actually they did hurt somehow, those lines were painful and even poetic.
Y'know, since enkanomiya, I've wondered if the twins will become "the third that came"

@@lijhay2889 as far as we know, the first one, the primordial one, was the first reigning god of teyvat, who was then slained by the second who came, the second is the god that reigns current teyvat, so they are celestia in a way, and the travellers might be the ones to slain them and transform into the new gods of teyvat or stablish a new status quo in the world.

To me, something that's interesting about the traveler is that they're not the player, as in, they're not our self insert but instead their own character. That's why I still don't understand why the game doesn't just call us Lumine/Aether, it just makes sense. Being called traveler is super weird, I feel like it would add so much more to the quests if they just used the actual names. I mean they did it in the first Dain quest, because it wouldn't make sense for our brother/sister to just call us Traveler, and I don't think it makes sense for any other character either :')
Personally I feel like, calling them Traveller or whatever name you input is because the Traveller doesn't tell everyone their true name. It could be that only Paimon, Dainsleif, and the Abyss Twin actually know what the Traveller's real name is, and the Traveller uses a pseudonym or just 'Traveller' with everyone else. Just my personal theory tho
Also, it's not that big of a deal from a story or meta perspective. Just look at Persona and SMT games or even most games that let you name your character.

RPG's, since they're Role-playing Games, needs geniune choices to make, different endings to get. Genshin doesn't have that

Paimon is possibly the only character besides the twin, who knows the traveler really well. Yes, they're probably hiding some stuff from Paimon but Paimon knows them well.
Traveler is such an underrated character, they deserve more love. For they are mysterious as well, we don't know where their homeland is or the motivation of them to move from worlds to worlds.
It's sure that the traveler don't tell paimon everything. For start, paimon still call he/she traveler. Only the sibil use the name in the game.
And remember the frist act whit Dain? That "I know what happen" that put paimon in a "what"?

Paimon fits this discription perfectly except for she looks nothing like a weapon (albiet sometimes it would be nice to give her a minature sword and see what happens lol)
Interesting thought, Fischl probably doesn’t actually know the traveler is from another world. She probably just thinks the traveler is pretending to be from another world and eventually gets elemental powers to back it up.
I love how Miko addresses us as 'Child' but the Traveler is probably older than she is.

So it seems some weird time thing could be going on. Venti remembers us but we don’t remember him? Also the battle pass inconsistencies with the story we currently know of the traveler’s past. If you play as lumine she says she woke up with the flowers on her head. The flowers in lumine’s hair is a nice touch because aether gave her those flowers. It’s sweet because either way if Lumine is protagonist or the villain she still chooses to keep those flowers in her hair that her brother gave her long ago.

Based of the teyvat story trailer, Teyvat is merely the first chapter of our story, with acts 1-??? Being our journey, in the same vain as our sibling’s journey, meaning there’s a good chance we will get more chapters beyond the first, wether that be us leaving Teyvat behind with our sibling and exploring the universe, or perhaps even a prequel chapter where we relive our sibling’s story, thousands of years before our own.
Our journey is far from over, and I’m sure it won’t end once we rebel against the divine.
Yeah, it kinda give up that impression. However, if that's the case story two will most likely be a second game.

Possibly just referring to things in other nations, but Chongyun goes have a voiceline that could hint he knows in his "About Us: Ghost Stories" that unlocks at Friendship Level 6.
"By now, you must be well acquainted with Liyue's supernatural phenomena. Now, about the evil beings you speak of in lands beyond... I would very much like to see them too."
Could just be Chongyun asking about other lands like Inazuma and Mondstadt, but the way 'lands beyond' is phrased that it's something the Traveler themselves have said and how it's a separate tangent from the prior statement makes me think it's at least somewhat possible he's aware of the traveler's situation.

With all the dialog about tartaglia wanting to join the traveler on their adventure and beating the rest of the harbingers together, I feel like he will defect from the fatui at the last moments because of us having the final battle earlier than the rest of the harbingers, and also because we have talked with him throughout the archon quest and met his family. Later leading to the final battle with us, tartaglia, and diluc vs the rest of the surviving harbingers.
But this is just my wishful thinking we'll see how it plays out later in a couple of years...
This or in the final battle arrive to help assist the traveler.
Fun Fact: The Traveler has estimated that it would take three full blows of Musou no Hitotachi to kill Childe.
I find this credible since they can tank Musou no Hitotachi unscathed and even Ei herself states that they could. If only other people knew of this.

Sooo, isn't calling the Traveler human part of the Travelers disguise? Hear me out. We know the Traveler is at least 500 years+ old and his twin doesn't appear as if she's aged a day either. So while the Traveler may look human they clearly are not based on what we know about our own species and the aging process.
The Travelers Reknown is another factor to consider. I'm sure everyone's noticed by now that the Travelers exploits are well known by many as stories pass through the world of Tehvat. Actually even beyond Tehvat at this point, you could say because of Enkanomiya and the Abyssal beings that the Traveler is quite reknowned amongst them as well. So it would be ignorant to assume Celestia hasn't taken notice.
Given the respect given towards the Archons and how the Traveler literally took Ei out on a date....for real....how exactly do you suppose the rest of the world will eventually come to react to the Traveler?

Personally I think the Traveler is a living Hologram. A pure energy being that can take the form of anyone in memory. As a being created purely from energy they can also use any elemental energy they have come to resonate with. They never age. They have the ability to turn food into pure energy to sustain themselves or by directly siphoning energy from a source like a statue of the 7. They have the ability to purify corruption similar to a lumenstone just not without limits. They have the ability to channel the ambitions and memories of others and unleash it as raw power. In short, the Travelers species is akin to a living Avatar.

Based on the teyvat story line trailer. The Pyro Archon might share some info about what she knows of us and our sibling.

It might be a stretch, but I believe the traveler does tell all their companions once enough trust is earned between them that they are from another world, Game mechanic wise, it is the friendship meter. What I find more unclear is how many know the Travelers true name: Aether and Lumine

This is only tangentially related to your video, but I personally hold the theory that the Travelers do come from Teyvat- perhaps they were two shades from the Primordial One's era, or they were miscellaneous beings, but the point being that their special clothes with all the primogem-shapes and stuff that relate to Teyvat symbology aren't coincidental- since primogems seem to be indicators of the Primordial One's civilisation. Hence why they are able to tap into Elemental Energy without a Vision, as their bodies are built-in conduits natural to the Teyvatian order. They of course probably travelled many worlds before (re-)arriving in Teyvat, perhaps even forgetting their origin; but their anomalous abilities may harken back to a more primordial Teyvat that was free of the restrictions that Visions (and Celestia) imposed.
Maybe the primordial one is the person the twins are talking about in the wing and sword of descension lore

It's also curious that the traveller has glowing jewels in their outfit just like the glowing jewels of the visions which makes it even more sus as to why they never change their outfit.
I had an idea for the sumeru archon quest that would open up potential traveler lore. Somehow they would get roped up into joining sumeru academia for a bit. An assignment would be they would have to write a thesis of sorts that could peak the curiosity of the head of the school or even lesser lord Kusanali. The traveler would decide to right it on the theory of other worlds / dimensions.
I also believe it could be the reason we haven’t had any other stories in a while would be the others are about there journies outside of teyvat. As we haven’t had any one a while, the thesis could make way for a character story.
Random idea
Just saying this early in the video but Aether could have just asked Lumine (or viceversa) which God imprisoned them. Just saying, if my twin told me she's on a mission (500 years going) and didn't want to go home I'd at least want to ask who was responsible for all of it.
Right now I'm ruling out all 7 Archons and believe the un named God is on the same power level as 1 of the primordial Shades like Ishtar or perhaps even more powerful.

One of aether shoulder pads have symbolism that hints royalty.
And the abyss sybling carries the aura of royalty regardless if it's lumine or aether.

Just wanna say something is that the traveller may have hide something during the 500 years and that he wasn't just "asleep" when in the new quest they said something along the lines 'that no one has the right to decide who lives and who doesn't'
It may just be me but i think it's a little sus cuz the traveller speaks as if they had once gone through something like this.
I find the Traveler line about the time (a day) in teyvat being really fast interesting. If we assume that the siblings live by our time and tayvat by the games time, a day in teyvat is 24 min. A day in teyvat is 60 times faster than a day in our world [(24h x 60min)/24min = 60]. By that logique, the war on khaenri'ah would have happened a bit more than 8 years ago traveler time [500 years/ 60 = 8.333]. I don't have anything to support this, but I found it interesting.
In one of xinyans voice lines, she mentions that the traveler is from another world. It might be worth checking out.
For Yae Miko, one of her voice lines is this: “Traveling to other worlds is all that anyone seems be writing about these days. Huh, goodness knows what they find so disappointing about their own world.” so if she talks about travelling to other worlds with the traveler then most probably she knows.
Theory:
The Abyss sibling theoratically speaking might have been the reason of Makoto's death. It might be false as I don't have much evidence to prove this but in the story teaser "We will be reunited", Lumine had been sent back 500 years, the Khaenri'ah War, she had awoken first before Aether for who knows how long she's been awake. She had possibly been traveling with Dainsleif before joining the Abyss after finding out Dainslef had left his people to decay and had fought against Archons. This was a war of Khaenri'ah vs. the Archons, meaning Lumine had possbily did some fight in order to live. I will note that in the trailer as well, Lumine was devastated and shattered after seeing the calamity of Khaenri'ah possibly meaning they might have been allies within the Khaenrian people.
They might be the Khaerinah envoys themselves
Lumine's hair flowers being from Khaen'riah adds another layer of depth now.
The traveler is eternal, Xiao's "mortals" spiel just refers to humans, one of which Traveler is in his current form. Xiao just might not know he is. But signoras quest item speaks of "the eternal traveler". It also fits into Zhonglis speech of memories and serving as a back up.
It ALSO alludes to Albedo's story quest, with erosion built up in the vial Traveler drank from during the test.
i Love Aether he is my fave character (yes i like lumine too but i got a soft spot for Aether idk why) and the fact i know nothing about him kinda flustrates me to be honest , still i really wanna know whats up with the twins .

Curious too about why Lumine and Aether wasn't transported to Teyvat at the same time. Maybe It's with Istaroth cause there's no proper reason why the retainer of heavenly principles was shocked, as there is nothing within that domain in which the twins went to when they encountered her that could've probably be there that is more or less from what we see in the actual game. Also, the power of this retainer is still unknown maybe she transported Lumine some other place, only to be freed by someone else is what I want to know, because if someone were to punish someone from their domain, wouldn't that be in a jail or prison and not land or something? Very curious indeed, and maybe other gods took part in Aether's separation from Lumine or maybe power's of other gods or anomalies that the retainer may struggle with. All in all I don't really know HAHAHAHA just wanna add fuel to the flame.

There is a npc in enkanomiya that says "I haven't seen someone with your Garp for a long time" or something along those lines. That might mean that it might was a casual thing for outlanders to visit teyvat

Finally, someone talks about this!! I had enough arguing with my friend on why traveler can't drink alcohol in the game. People in Teyvat don't know he is like 500+ years old so they just assume the traveler is teenager. I mean they look like one, and obviously they don't just run around to random people telling they are from another world and they are old.
Has ANYONE noticed that amount of stars that's associated with them? Not only do we have instances of characters saying that they're stars or whatever. It's also the fact that one of their ide animations is literally them PLAYING around with stars (Possibly their constellation which could still mean the traveler has SOME of their power left) and that their outfit is literally called "Rising star" (Atleast for Lumine I'm not sure about Aether). If you look at the top left corner, usually for a character it'll show their vision and the shape of it (its shape changes depending on where your character is from) BUTTTT when you look at the traveler's, It's replaced with a star. It really fascinates me how associated they are with the stars.
Didn't you notice everyone in the Chasm identifies the traveler by the game we gave him/her. Meaning they're not "the traveler". I called mine Basquiat, and I was surprised all dialogues included "Basquiat" instead of traveler. Returning to Liyue and the situation with the Fatui is giving the traveler a name. Also, as we go by, must NPCs salute you with something like "hello again - it's you, traveler" so more and more people around Teyvat are getting to know us because the word is spreading. I bet many NPCs in Sumeru already know us, being a knowledge nation.
can you make theory video about waypoints?
that thing looks obvious to us players but it's actually full of mystery. Like Teyvat denizens doesn't know what's its purpose and sees it as strange statue. They even decorate are around the waypoint like the ones in Inazuma city. But traveller knows how obvious they are, and only traveler could activate it.
And I think it's even older than Enkanomiya civilization. As if something or someone that mindbogglingly ancient knew traveler's arrival to Teyvat and put those as convinient travelling point.

Katherine is aware the Traveler can use the teleport points, an ability that seems otherwise unique to Katherine. She says as much when asked about her presence in all regions at once after arriving in Inazuma.
The traveler has also told Xinyan that they aren’t from Teyvat, in her About Us: Kindred Spirits voice line she says “And here I was wonderin’ why we got along so well! So you’re not from this world, and that’s why you don’t care for it’s rules. Now that’s how life should be like! Lose the red tape, and live free!”

I think you might've taken some of these lines out of context. In Yae Miko's case, she herself is not human, so it's natural for her to talk about humans as a separate entity when speaking with the Traveler. The Traveler him or herself does not need to be something other than human for Yae Miko to talk about humans in this manner as a result.

Finally someone is covering their History before Teyvat and when others are only concerned about the current lore. Don't get me wrong I also love the lore other people's are covering but knowing about the Traveler's history is also really interesting.
I do feel like with fishl or Amy there needs to be a scene where she realises you truly are from another world and then she completely breaks character for several minutes while both processing and fangirling over it. She is nothing but a cosplayer after all.

It has been strangely annoying to me how certain characters seem to go from not knowing anything about the traveller, to, off-screen, knowing possibly everything. With Morax it was somewhat debateable, but implied in his story, but Yui Mikio later seem pretty certain and Scaramouche's words about our former nature were ominous, though maybe he was confusing us with our sibling.

Funny that you mention Seraph for the travellers form. They once had wings and was lost when they faced the Unknown God. Also I watched this after the Sumeru archon quest so there’s another term the traveller has gained. Your observations are really detailed and make sense but I believe until we get more insight on Traveler’s story and visit more countries we can only but guess.
The question im holding is how smart is the traveler like half of there voice line is them explaining things to paimon
i think the traveler actually seems pretty open about sharing info, but when their intuition tells them not to trust, they are less forthcoming. no reason why we were initially sus of Enjou when we weren't really like that for anyone else except Fatui. Also, Xinyan literally has a voice line where she says something like "whoa you're from a whole other world and you like my music?" or something similar. From main story perspective we've only officially met her once, and neither time was it "necessary" to tell her we were from another world. And in fact, in the event story we were quite willing to hold information back from her. Yet, she knows. I'm only counting this because if you include other voice and teapot lines, hers should count too, even if she's only been present through events so far. just some extra food for thought! Also, i'm curious what you mean by we don't tell anyone our name? Are we not just assuming that we are called by the "canon" name from the twin because it was voiced and it wouldn't make sense for them to call us "traveler" in speech even if the text said our chosen name? I'm not sure i'm ready to consider that factual, but that's the only thing i can think of. also, about trusting paimon... she literally didn't even know we knew about Khaenri'ah, or that we were *there*. we confided in her at the same time we did with Dain, who is still a relative stranger to us at that point. i'm hopeful she won't end up as a betrayer or something in the end, and truly is a "guide" of sorts, but considering Inazuma should really be the only area truly blocked off, the "guide" premise will make less sense, especially since she doesn't stop you from exploring Liyue from Mondstadt
Here's another one of my ideas (I'm starting to use ideas more instead of theories 'cause some people overreact when they see theory-crafting): okay, just follow me with this. We know that Aether and Lumine lost their World (Realm) right? Now, they never said that they lived on the Planet. They potentially just defended from afar. Well, I believe that the Twins were originally the Sun and the Moon (or two Suns 'cause that's plausible) for their original World. You can even say "Gods" if you want to. But of course tragedy happened, most likely 'cause of the former denizens of the World. So these Twin Stars are just hovering over a planet with no life so they start to Travel.
In this Headcanon they start to grow and learn because they no longer had their celestial bodies or potentially they gave them up. And as they're running around trying to find suitable candidates for the Planet they wish to help prosper they just take on the forms of the citizens, like let's interview the Boss(es) before I start working for them type of thing. But once again we would have to get more information from The Travelers. I don't have a lot of facts to back this up I just think it's just interesting one anything else. But the thing about the three Moon Goddesses just always sticks' in my mind, there has to be something there.
In the case that Aether and Lumine started as literal suns/stars, I think it's safe to say that they would've been a binary system.
Im pretty sure that venti is withholding information from the traveller, if you go to the manga it states somewhere that venti can see the future and knows everything that will happen in teyvat, he has also met the traveller in the manga however I am unsure if it is us or the abyss traveller.

7:06 The way zhongli talks here reminds me of Project Ark (which is a theory back then about the origin of Teyvat because Teyvat can be mean as "Ark"), its part of Project S.A.V.E. Project Stigma, Ark, Valuka, Ember
Project Ark was developed to save biological information of humanity and put it on a ship, a ship that will wander the vast stretches of space until it finds a planet fairly similar to earth to be the new home of humanity, in case the honkai succeeds in destroying humanity
What if both of the siblings came to teyvat before khaenriah was founded and that the other sibling was the one to build kaenriah from the ground up. That’s why the other sibling referred to the princess or prince of kaenriah and why they also consider the kaenriahns as their people.
I think rather than immortality, I think the traveler has longevity that's why no matter how long ago they existed... They don't change appearance. Unlike immortals that really can't die no matter what (unless some over the top scenarios happen) or they just loose their power for some reason
@Chill with Aster, fun fact, there is cut content, which would have been canonical until the change in direction, Genshin Impact was originally planned as a sequel to Honkai Impact, and The Travelers originally had more blatant dialogue about being from the world of Honkai Impact, which would imply they would have known about the beings known as Herrschers, many of our favorite characters are Expies of characters from Honkai as well, some more genderbent and slightly less obvious.
Edit: in Honkai, elemental powers are related to Gems and Honkai energy. Honkai energy is toxic to humans and only individuals with particular adaptive capabilities known as Valkyrie are capable of using it, though it does shorten their lifespan considerably and they use suppressants in order to stave off honkai corruption, individuals chosen to become Herrscher, have the potential to retain individuality, such as Raiden Mei, the Herrscher of Thunder, who in Genshin, has an Expy is Ei, the Archon of Electro, in fact, their journeys are almost mirror reflections.
So, had this remained canonical, consider this: in Honkai Impact the world is constantly being destroyed by beings known as Honkai and the god-like Herrscher, in a previous Era there was something known as The Ark Project, which was to find a new world for humanity itself, what if, the Travelers are that Genome group of humanity sent by the Ark Project, which was canonically stated in the honkai Manga to have been a failure?
Genshin is still a part of the Honkai storyline as a side story.

The traveller is sent by Hyperion to travel through the world's in the imaginary tree and find teyvat, the ark project launched by MEI from the previous era.
