Back in 2003 I happened to walk in on a 300 game at a Fort Myers Bowling alley. A high school buddy had 8 in a row when I got there. He made it 9 in a row when I asked him if he had the perfect 300 before. Good thing that didn't jinx him. The entire alley was full of people. When they realised what's happening all went silent. You could hear a needle drop. The 12th strike was a Brooklyn but they all went down. The people where going crazy. It was big fun to watch!👍😉
I've bowled one 300 game in league. Sure it was exciting, but honestly....the bowling center I worked at (the same one I bowled at), would usually have 2-3 300 games per week. It kind of detracts from the excitement and feeling unique that you've done it, you know?
I relish the 7 strikes I got in a competition many years ago and choked in the 8th frame. You talk about being nervous. Just one of those rarities in life.
GEM I don’t think you can bowl a 299 not even if you get all strikes and your last bowl is a spare for a 9, I’m in a bowling league I know the scores don’t even try to lie to be bruh
That’s like the worst feeling in the world. When something amazing happens and you get super popular because of it, but you wake up in your bed and realize it was all a dream. That’s happened to me and I go kind of insane for a minute because of it. I couldn’t tell you how many times that particular thing has happened in the past month. Each and every time, I lose a little bit of my sanity, part of it dies when I realize it all.
There have been 4 300-300 ties in the match-play portion of a PBA tournament as of 1995. There have probably been more since but this is what I found. Tom Baker / Pete Weber 1981 Denver Norm Duke / Purvis Granger 1987 Showboat David Ozio / Mike Edwards 1993 San Antonio Norm Duke / Doug Wallace 1995 Northwest Classic
Anybody that says bowling a 300 isn't difficult anymore is wrong. I've only bowled one and haven't come close since. And to do it on live television makes it that much harder. Also, the angle that hes playing, the speed, and the hook make it difficult to repeat the same shot every ball.
tackiestasian69 it's definitely easier nowadays with the balls that are out on the market now compared to using a ball that the bowling alley has for amateurs in the sixties. 300 still no small feat but it is easier nowadays.
Jon Smith. It's not any easier just because the balls are better. It doesn't matter how good of a ball you have, if you can't throw the ball down the lane consistently each time, no 300.
I dont see how throwing a consistent balls makes you bowl a 300. Yes its very helpful. But a machine that throws the balls the same every time doesnt bowl a 300 every game. You have to know when to move. You have to know when to change where to throw the ball on the lane. Just because we have new balls doesnt mean its easier. It may be different to do rather tham 60 years ago. But it isnt easier. You have to throw the ball 12 time and hope for a strike all 12 times. There is luck involved in every game you play. Especially bowling.
I started teaching myself how to hook the ball only recently. Got tired of just going straight down the middle with pure power. I'm getting better at the hook/curve. Bowled a 138 score today. Normally I average about 80-85 bowling straight.
You have to have been around the sport and seen the evolution of bowling balls and aggressive styles like Belmonte to really appreciate the way he just devastates those racks.
A few nights ago I was ONE PIN from a 300. Strikes on frames 1-6, and 8-10. But that damn 7th frame... Left a single pin standing. Picked up the spare and finished with a 279, but I doubt I will ever stop thinking about that ONE DAMN PIN...
@@Jeon1958able No, a hard 4 pin really isn't a thing, you never throw a perfect shot and then leave a 4 and think "damn how didn't that go down." You do think that when it's an 8, or a 9, and usually a 10. A 4 is much more predictable and there isn't as much "unluckiness" involved, it's always clearly high or clearly light.
i bowled for for 6months about 5 years ago. when i frist started in i bowled st8 with a pink house ball lol. in thos 6months i had bowled in a lot of youth leagues. wining 1st in my first ever league. long story short. i was bowling 206 avg at month 5 and then had to stop bowling due to my mom and dad could not afford it nor take me to the games. im 19 now and have decided to come back. just bought retro grips rising star. hope to start where i left off with my 206 avg. belmo is sick
