I know that there is no one actually moment, but the fact that he stood alone and demanded better safety certainly needs mentioning. Because of this he has had the most influence of any F1 driver ever.
The most complete F1 champion by some way IMHO. Sir Jackie deserves the title of champion (and knight!) in every single way you can imagine. Most of all, the relationships he built with his fellow competitors (many of them legends themselves), make him stand out as one of the few truly great sportsmen of all time.
Adding to that 1971 Monaco race was that Stewart found in warmup that he had no rear brakes. He decided to build a lead early to discourage other drivers and allow him to nurse the brakes later in the race.
Jim Clark, Fangio, Stewart, Prost and Senna are, in my opinion the five top drivers in history. Stirling Moss, Schumacher, Lauda are around there too.- I would have trouble sorting out a hierarchy amongst them.
Bearing in mind that he is the oldest still living formula 1 Champion
