As an African woman I find this so embarrassing. It’s like they found the least educated Nigerians and put them on a stool and just told them to pull out of their empty heads. Imagine suggesting white people taught African women progress. I’m honestly appalled at the level of illiteracy on the subject. Women were movers and shakers in Africa and in fact colonialism set us back.

      Dey whine yourself.
What we call pace setting in this part of the world before the Europeans came to our shores are just a bunch of arbitrary and useless things.
If our women are half of what people like you claim they were back in the day, we won't have so much depravity and societal failure as we do today.
You guys fail to understand that over 90% of African Men were raised over 95% by African women. therefore whatever ills we experience in society today is as a result of the failure of women in raising adequate men.

The reason why men were the primary inventors was largely due to the fact most cultures around the world during most of human history emphasized that women only needed to learn how to cook, clean, serve their husband, have children, serve the husband's family, and have children. At most, women would learn how to make clothes, blankets, cloths, sing, dance, play instruments, read a little, write a little, and perhaps learn some home remedies from the other women in the family. Women were largely barred from places that taught about the science of this world, government, and other subjects not entirely connected to the home, to a brothel, or could be used for entertainment for males. I also want it to be known that the "men built the world argument" shouldn't be used if we can't also say that "women built you and gave you life". We can't downplay one thing and uphold the other.

I noticed that the anti-feminist viewpoints lacked a lot educational depth and most of it seemed to stem from “women shouldn’t be better than men” . Also just to address the notion of the prompt that said “the world favours men…” ; The patriarchal system wasn't established to favor women but men ;so yes the world was designed to favour men and In fact, it creates problems for both men and women by sticking to old-fashioned gender roles. And right now as time has progressed , those same expectations that were created by MEN are causing difficulties for men in this modern day, affecting their mental health and how they're seen in society. - And the guy towards the end talking about how the most successful people in the world are Men, like what do you expect, the patriarchal society was designed to favour men so obviously they got to benefit more, because women started a later stage. It’s like colonisation, the whites that colonised Africa are ahead because they had leverage and it doesn’t speak on the incompetence of African countries. I think it’s important to acknowledge these issues to work towards a fairer and more equal community.

The Patriarchal system also includes prior to our current civilised world. The patriarchal system can also be depicted as the time where there was danger in the world, dangers in hunting and gathering, dangers through war. Men didn’t always benefit from the patriarchal system and were once seen to be expendable during times of war. I do agree that we should work towards a more equal society but we’ve come a long way and to just completely do away with traditional values in patriarchy may have unintended consequences. Women need to take pride in the household and men need to take pride in leadership without abusing their position.

The evolution of societal norms doesn't negate the need for progress. While maintaining certain values, it's crucial to address the limitations and inequalities inherent in traditional gender roles. Striving for a more equal society doesn't necessarily mean abandoning all traditional values; rather, it involves adapting and reshaping them to better suit the needs and aspirations of all individuals, irrespective of gender.

@@jeanrewss I just disagreed with the prompt that it benefitted men, that’s all. I’m neither for or against feminism, I’m more critical of the attempt to convince women that the patriarchy is oppressive. I think choice is what we’re all fighting for. I’d even argue that there’s actually an over correction in regard to what women are fighting for. If women would focus on choice in opposed to actually fighting to be men, society would benefit more. Men are better built to be career driven as it makes them more attractive to women and more valuable in status. Women don’t benefit from this whatsoever. I find it funny that a lot of women don’t want to work 40 hours a week. A lot of women don’t like the stresses of the work place, and would rather be stay in their feminine and take care of the home and family… unfortunately the nature of the patriarchy is really a psyop which benefits governments more than it does the average woman’s mental health and happiness. In the least sexist way, in a way I think men make better choices for women than women do for themselves. Play the game to your strengths and you’ll likely win more often than not.

If a parent is neglectful to their child, there are legal ramifications! I'm referring to how we are not under submission to any man, but the Bible specifically references husbands and wives. The Bible also says we should honor our mother and father! :) hence why I would be under submission in my Father's house as well, not to any man that I have an interaction with. Of course there are the general societal rules that we follow such as following the rules your manager gives you, listening to your teacher at school, etc etc but a women is not to be under full submission of any man she encounters.

  • @viggieok
    @viggieok 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +109

The anti-feminist side is not very enlightened on a lot of things. Two out of four were just misogynists. If you have to use "but the Bible says..." in a debate about human rights, despite knowing the Bible doesn't dictate human rights, you've already lost the argument.
It's very clear they didn't watch Barbie, because if they did, they'd know the goal of Barbie was the exact opposite of what they thought it was. The point of Barbie land being matriarchal is to draw parallels between the real world to show how it is to be subjugated because of your gender. At the end, they realized the error of their ways and decided everyone, men and women, has a say. So, Barbie land didn't remain matriarchal.
Also, the goal of feminism is to dismantle the patriarchy, and once you take out the patriarchy, it doesn't leave a matriarchy but instead an egalitarian society. Also, when feminists proclaim "men and women are equal," they're arguing that men and women are deserving of equal rights in respect and dignity, not that they're the same.
That man was also being very dishonest when he said he's okay with being looked down upon by white men just to stand by his point. He knows well the reason why Africans weren't inventing much was because there were barriers and they weren't given opportunities, just like women weren't.
Relationships should not be hierarchical; it poses a power imbalance. You can be equals in a relationship; you're both committing to each other. The antifeminists countered their own point occasionally. Anyone, feminist or not, can tell society privileges men over women; that's basic knowledge.
Antifeminists whole argument is all about men being stronger than women, despite pro feminists never claiming otherwise because we know, generally men are stronger than women, and this doesn't mean any given man would automatically be stronger than a woman.
The last thing, men are not transitioning into women to dominate women's sports; that's simply not happening. Only one trans woman has ever won a national title. No one is upending their life to transition just to dominate sports.
I really wished they let the feminists speak more, and they had better counterarguments for the misogynists they were up against.

I feel that a lot of people view feminism through a colonial white Christian lens, which makes feminism same as a threat. I fear that a lot of traditional African values were lost a long. We forget that a lot of traditional African cultures were led or advised by women once upon a time. They always want to say that feminism was a western invention but they also forget to acknowledge that their ideas of patriarchy are also ideas of Western and Christian influence. They want to talk about European and white men brought feminism but they're not mentioning who brought them their particular form of Christianity. It's the same people. People always want to quote the part in the Bible where it says women submitting to their husbands but forget the part that comes right after that! Reminding husbands to love their wives like they love God how he loved the church, which I feel is even stronger and deeper. And let's not quote the Barbie movie if you haven't watched the movie. I can tell a lot of their talking points were just from what they heard from conservatives, who also didn't sit and watch the movie. But don't get me wrong I'm glad these conversations are being had, but sometimes I feel that people come in only to push their view and not to find middle ground. Anecdotal stories are not facts, and empirical data is is without emotion. However both are necessary to have an effective conversation and productive communication.

Not any woman will be able to step up in a difficult role , and not any man would be able to step up in a difficult role. It all comes down to how good the person is regardless of their gender. It’s the potential of doing better than men as a fellow human counterpart is what should be the focus.

Hey Cruise. Cool videos, please keep it up. However, I would like to suggest if you can thoroughly screen guests that come on your show. Some people don’t seem to understand the prompts and tend to become too sentimental without trying to listen or understand the other side. I feel like if you’re coming to a show like this, you should be able to understand that you’re coming to discuss with people with different beliefs from you, not coming with serious bias with the aim to instill your own beliefs… ‘Cause it seriously got tiring while watching the video. Other than that, I think you guys are doing a great job. The first time I saw your videos I thought it was jubilee lol. Really nice quality, just the casting that might need more attention.

If you don't provide 100% of the bills, you are a co-provider. What about emotionally, mentally, spiritually, sexully (I mean more than dick), and the rest of them.

The same verse that says a woman should submit also says that like Christ died for the church the man should do so and also be ready to forgive her no matter what: before Christ, men could divorce their wives as they liked but the woman didn't have a reason to leave. Also, the man has to submit to his wife too and God. That means you have to choose a person who fears God

"Subjecting," "person to lead," "figure head," "submit to" ... it's all the same topic of a power imbalance. An image of force or control would never be evoked within a relationship of partnership and cooperation, which amazes me how it's not even a preferred option. Your book of reference was written thousands of years ago, BY MEN, FOR MEN, during a very misogynistic time. It ignored the real source of nature, where one can also see the true value of women. It flipped the script (women came from men? Really?!!) & doubled down on men's insecurities & egos, telling them they had to constantly feel superior to feel good. Men need to control themselves, NOT women. The book tells you not to challenge its logic, so I get that's where you're coming from. Behanzin, the emperor of the nowadays Benin - the country- had a personal guards army made of only women.
In Ghana, if I am not mistaken, the royalty was given by the Queens. It was a matriarchy. I can’t say that it was a general practice among all tribes, but it happened.
Feminism is not and will never be a war against men. That is what many people failed to understand. It’s to permit women to benefit from the same right as men in the society, such as having a job, being able to buy land, owning a home, having a bank account, being able to have your car, to drive, being able to handle and have a say in your medical procedures, being paid equally at equal qualifications and so on and so forth.

@jasonc2407 Christianity IS a western concept and the spread of Christianity is largely tied to colonialism by European powers.

Africans weren’t taught Christianity by the white man lol, it existed in africa way before they came and conquered and white washed everything. Do you actual research

Men and women are equal human beings in society. In marriage, especially as a Christian, it’s different, the husband leads the relationship, he is the head of the home. The wife follows the leadership of her HUSBAND!
In society, no one should tell me that I can’t run for president because I’m a woman or something ridiculous like that.

Hi Cruise. It will be great to have people bring on intellectually stimulating conversations on here. Some of these people were putting out baseless facts and it was just sad to see. Well done though

I think the show needs to fact check some of the responses as people aren’t necessarily being factual. People must back up their claims with legit references.

Since time memorial, men as a collective, have never respected women or given women a chance. In my opinion, it comes down to the absolute basics, respect.

I really wish i could be part of the creative and content strategy department of cruise. There are a lot of prompts that could've been asked but were for some reason left out. Is there a way I can apply?

Feminism is not about being able to carry the same weight or endure more physical stress; this is not physiologically possible, as we are not built physiologically the same. Instead, it is about equal opportunities and rights, as well as no judgment or credit to our gender for our mistakes and successes.
