It is hard to believe that we once had a good rail network only to be abolished despite some towns growing in population. You really have done an amazing job putting all this together. I certainly loved the video.

Transport patterns have certainly changed, haven't they? Thanks for the kind words, Luke!

Thanks for the video … great to see. I’m a model railroader and I have a station in the Federation style on my layout based on many of these old buildings. It’s made from cardboard with the quarry stone walls, corner groins and iron roof, based on a kit supplied by a South Australian company selling on eBay … keeping the heritage alive … at least in miniature!

I'm a bit obsessed with the different architecture styles of old SA stations. 😂

Sad a lot of these old stations are just forgotten &/or demolished. A platform or shed is all that remains! 😢

Ghost shadows of a prosperous and simpler age.

Cheers, O'mallee! Amazing what you can do when you have a back catalogue of source footage.

Maybe next time you could mention a former station on the Outer Harbor line, Yerlo. I enjoyed watching this episode of SAR Stations, well done

What an exceptional video. Thank you for creating a visual history of how the stations have (or havent) stood the test of time. I work had me travelling to Mt Gambier and on one occasion I found the exact location the line crossed into Victoria in amongst the pine plantations...GPS is a wonderful device). it was amusing and sad to see the size of the pine trees growing between the rails. SA can thank Alan Scott the former transport owner for closure of the lines down in the south... and Genessee and Wyoming for most of the grain lines as they were required to keep the lines up to a standard to be safely used... however as all big corporations go... they reneged other responsibilities and the lines fell into disrepair. They wrnt to the government and advised the the lines could no longer carry traffic and the gof the day didn't have enough kahunas to order them to abide by the contract they signed... You must remember that SA is the only state that does not have regional trai services... not even to victor...

I feel like Milang should get it's line reinstated as a steamranger service. They could call it the Milangalander!

Very sad to see all those closed lines in S.A., bad enough here in NSW but we still have some country trains. Love your vids!

I thought we had a few closed lines in NSW (which we do) SA sure has plenty as well. It is so seed to see those lines and towns all close up. Cheers.
