- I'm Subliminal, and this is #AStarCitizensFirstLook The 400i is real and is available to fly in the 3.15 PTU. In this video I'm going to tour the exterior, interior, take it for a brief test fight, and try to shove some stuff in it. This video was recorded live on Twitch but it is produced with the sole purpose of being a TH-cam video. And be sure to stay tuned till the end to find out how you can win a 400i. PSA: I understand the quality of my "First Look" series are not up to the same standard as the content you may be used to on this channel. The premise behind these videos is to show my unscripted first impressions of a ship. It's not intended to be polished, scripted, or cinematic. I am considering changing the title to "My first 30 min with X ship".
This series is exclusive to the first time a ship hits the PTU to give my first impressions and show off the ship that is not yet available to everyone.
My full buyers guides, loadout guides, ship battles, etc will always be well edited and scripted.
Speaking of my more usual content, you may have noticed it has been less frequent these past few months. This is because the meta is in flux with the baseline stats brought forth in recent patches. I don't see the point in making a loadout guide in the games current state because it will be obsolete pretty quickly so this series is essentially on hiatus. My website subliminal.gg has my up-to-date text loadout guides. And I have started a new weekly TH-cam Short series called "A Star Citizen's Quick build" that goes over the build I've been flying that week that I think you may like to try. I have also done an all in one weapons guide and components guide for 3.14 to further explain my thoughts on the meta.
In closing I clearly label these videos thumbnails and set the expectation for what to expect in the first 30seconds. So if that isn't for you I'm not trying to waste your time. I enjoy making the content that gets 99-98% like to dislike ratio. Videos like this are usually 95% like to dislike. This is all still WELL above average so I will continue to make these videos. I can't wait to make the next buyers guide or full loadout guides just as you enjoy watching them. Thank you guys for your viewership and understanding!
TLDR: First looks are not designed to be polished or scripted. Some of my usual content is hindered by the baseline meta currently in the game. Normal content will resume when it is safe to do so.

don't blame you at all for taking a break... I have actually deleted the game from my system(s) because of the constant changes/lack of change in the game... I will probably come back when the universe expands a bit and stabilizes more... Until then, it is taking up space on my HD that could be better utilized by something else... Like a Knitting simulator or something....

its not about polishing or scripting at all, Subliminal! Its about keeping it cool with your movements - its unwatchable!
"Early look" at something is not an excuse to suck at camera movement. We're not expecting editing and sound tracks or anything. Just CHILL, walk instead of run and keep the mouse steady, don't jerk about, like you can't control your hand... If you can write on paper with a pen, you should be able to get this right. Its not a matter of saving time.
Its about not making people feel sick.
One small piece of constructive criticism: don't jerk your mouse around like you're playing competitive Overwatch or something. When giving a ship tour, try to keep it smooth please, it gets hard to follow.
Hijacking the top comment here but an x-box controller plugged in and keybound right provides really smooth camera controls for things like ship tours etc.

@@jedi_drifter2988 that was really hard to watch, the ship is a bit on the "cozy" side, stuff is relatively close to you and all that quick motion with the walls and doors right up in your face gave me a bit of motion sickness there.
I really hope they add fishing to the game - and oceans.
Land on the ocean.. cruise around, throw up a sail to save on fuel.
Then find a nice mountain lake - get out a fly rod and chill to beautiful sounds.
All paid for by a few box runs in my space Bugatti.
Fishing is a must in every MMO!! I would love to be able to swim and dive in the water, and kind of motorboats. 😃

Well although there’s no fishing yet, you can take this to the river on microTech and chill there for a bit in peace!
As someone who plans to do mainly exploration, I won’t be making my decision on which multi-crew explorer (Aquila, Corsair, or 400i) I want to buy until we actually have at least some meaningful form of exploration gameplay.
you could or should apply this logic to basically every ship that is not specifically made for combat or mining, because be it cargo hauling, salvaging, exploration, wip transport, data running etc etc, we have literally ZERO idea how these gameplayloops will even mechanically work.
so yeah, thats why i went back to just a 300i and patiently wait for more flesh on the bones of this game.

They are all labeled exploration but then don't do it in the same way, at all.
Connie : firepower 4/5, durability 4/5, nimbleness 2/5, luxury 2/5 (or more if you take the Phoenix).
400i : firepower 3/5; durability 3.5/5, nimbleness currently 2/5 (but should be more according to the interview), luxury 4/5.
Corsair : firepower 5/5, durability 2/5 (unless they buff the shield, currently only 2 size 2), nimbleness expected 3/5, luxury 2/5

What?? No they skinned it to be silver because of the Phantom Menace. It totally feels like a Jedi's or Sith's ship, with a little extra space for the Jedi's companions. This could have flown straight out of Naboo.

I agree, I had to have 2 skins, the stock white (Jedi) and the Penumbra (sith) Paint, for those spec ops missions ...

I have been waiting so long for a ship I actually like, this is it.
Yeah. It sure is beautiful
its beautiful but its complete crud in combat (slow, unagile, poor weaponry that the sheild wont help you) and it scarcely fits any vehicle (either bike or 4wheel). This is not an S4 ship. The other S4s (connies, redeemer, valkyrie, retaliator) are miles better in terms of armour, hull health, weaponry and versatility. Only the MSR lets down the S4 team to the same degree as this 400i. The true competitor for this category from Origin is the 600i (dual large sheild, 3x S5 guns, decent garage)

That's a great ship. Stylish outside, super functional interior layout, and it doesn't waste a bunch of space on saunas and tanning beds or whatever. Just some nice upholstery and some plants, swank without getting in the way of the mission equipment. CIG gets better at this with every ship they make.

I love the MISC skin. It just give it a rough edge. I mean I love the Origin interior, but I prefer the MISC exteriors. So Meridian 400i is the ideal ship for me!
Also keep in mind our ships exterior will wear over time giving it a weathered look. Especially in hostile environments
The exterior part is subjective, but the MISC cockpits are a crime. The little slits that are supposed to represent the cockpit windows are an absolute no-go.
I mean at that point it should just be a complete hull without windows, and instead have a screen inside that goes way up and around, so you can actually see something, and only when the power runs out and the screens don't work, then the hullplates should open to let you see at least something.
As it stands though, the cockpits in the Freelancer and co. are objectively worse than any other cockpit, followed by the cockpit of the hercules.

I hope CIG introduces a parking/low hover mode for hover vehicles.
I mean they could introduce a docking mode for some parking like the nose of the 400i with the nox just because of how small it is but still keep the ability to do it manually too also the hover mechanic needs work it’s not a true hover that’s why when he was hovering over the lip of the platform it looked like her was hitting a speed bump and flipping things on the ground shouldn’t affect hovering like that

Love it's design and looks. But I'm holding out to see what the Corsair holds.
I am interested to see what they all hold in this class. 400i is more defensive. Corsair looks to be more offensive. Constellation Aquila seems to be a bit of both. I think all of these ships will have a distinct advantage over each other for sure. I bet the corsair will be deadly fully manned. Just dont get hit in return. 400i just outrun the gunfire and throw some punches while you do. Aquila just watch from a distance and collect all the parts when they are fighting each other. Then go find the new planet they were fighting over. I cannot wait to see what each ship brings to the table of exploration.
On paper curently corsair Will be Glass Cannon with little bit more Cargo able to Have Ursa on the board.. but basicly turrets on the Corsair Are pretty much uselles, IT Will be less Agile And slower, And 400i Is more tanky with large shields And more stealthy.. in that case, you Have to decide, Is IT better to Have more guns if you wont be able to use them properly against smaller tsrgets? I would rather sacrifice guns for better agility And Speed. Besides this 400i Have tons of missiles.

Ha ha! I never get tired of watching you HIGH-TAIL it through Port Olisar's orbital rings, more successfully of course. As for the loading the cycle into the landing bay. I used to build NURBS. They have not cleared out the lift areas yet, so there are invisible rough edges still present, but it's an easy fix.

The 400i is beautiful! I am so glad they went with this concept. The hammer type head looks perfect. I'm not a origin fan but this ship is something I was really excited for. Honestly the dark skin would be awesome if it added a stealth aspect to the ship.

Looks like the most functional design they have ever done
I think it should've gotten two size 5 hardpoints with size 4 gimballed weapons, the guns are on opposite sides of the ship, so unless your target is directly in front of you, you'll only have 1 size 3 gun on target half of the time, I'm immediately swapping the gimbals out for two size 4 rhino repeaters.
Allegedly, on spectrum devs talked about looking in to the 400i acceleration, yaw and pitch and hopefully they will be buffed before 3.15 live release.
I am glad i picked this one up. SO far I am really liking it. Only thing i have noticed a bit buggy is the quantum travel HUD does not seem to line up on the waypoint i have chose to spool up to. But yeah loving the heck out of this one even more than the MSR. If only they had it in a purple paint job. LOL. I will rock the black n gold for now though. Thanks for the video man!

I hope we get Helmet Mounted Cueing Systems in SC, something that would be very nice to have, with this you could implement high off boresight modes for the missiles along with adding situational awareness.

Wanted it for the looks? Cause it seems like the 400i compared to the MSR is lackluster. A little more than 40 SCU. Small vehicle bay. No better pilot weapons. Hard sell for me for the features.

The skin shown off in the Pyro mission vid was the Meridian skin with signs of degradation and wear, and imo it looked fantastic. Gave the impression of a once well off explorer turned smuggler falling on hard times.

There are 4 Escape pods. Does that mean there'll be a fourth, maybe scanning station, requiring hot bunking?
Also, I wish they had a bespoke docking collar for the X1, using the Merlin's docking mechanics. Looking at the building blocks lift controls beyond the grav generator from the interior kills the vibe for me.
Lastly, how do people feel about the low-slung pilot weapons?

Yea I’m really scratching my head as to why this ship is not faster than the Connie. Connie has more firepower so it makes sense for this to be more agile. AND the entire backend of the ship is a main thruster and somehow is slower than the MSR which desperately needs a engine to a** ratio increase.

I love this ship but it really needs some adjustments, it’s much more of a freelancer competitor than it is a Connie competitor. I’m okay with it’s lower cargo capacity and firepower but I mean look at this thing it should definitely be an agile ship, also please let it fit a ROC cig, pls.

@@matthewcollier3482 I agree. In a perfect game there would be a net zero pros vs pros and cons vs cons and I get it’s almost impossible to get there. However, the Connie seems to have a considerable leg up atm.
This thing looks like it should be wicked fast in a straight line and when rolling. If you think of luxury car brands I consider Origin to be a “BMW” or “Mercedes” and the 400i to be the 5 series or E class. Not the most agile but has the potential for great straight line speed and acceleration. Instead, it’s almost as if the 400i flys like a 1970s Lincoln drives. Maybe I’m wrong in that assumption but if I am than CIG needs to make adjustments.

Side note: Looks like they need a mode for the Grav lev bikes that moves them lower to the surface, speed restricts them, and allows them to ignore minor changes in the surface by sensing a larger surface area and taking the average.
How long have hover bikes been broken? I dont understand why we cant control the height..
I mean its meant to be competition for the connie but the turrets are in awful spots, at least the turrets on the connie can join in shooting at the main target up front with the pilot

hey, i own the terrapin with LTI, been looking at the 400i, I'm confused about crew, like my terrapin was made for one, i know all ship can be piloted by one now but when game is finished?? seems a lot of ships are meant to have multi crew like the 400i, so being a solo player, waiting for them to invent NPC crew, at lease that's what heard back when, but they may have changed there minds about that, can you explain about crew, i don't want to get a ship that someday cannot pilot to lack of crew, thanks bro, have a HAPPY turkey day!- peace

If you check behind the map table, you'll find 6 Blades on the back wall of the room down by the floor too. I didn't really expect to see those in the ship, but they're there.
I'm guessing you probably found the seat a bit low; the perspective is good for space, but planetside I found I kept wanting to sit up in the seat or just stand up. Like literally, I strain upwards and try to stand up unconsciously so I can see lol Still managed to get used to it and maneuver and land without 3rd person. What I did find however, was in Cruise control mode, the upward strafe is inhibited, and if you drop the nose and approach the surface, it stops you from strafing up, so you just end up bouncing and skipping as you pull up the nose, (in VTOL mode).
You can take the remote turrets off and put them on the pilot hardpoints. Very cool.
Wait what? So do they remain as remote turrets or does the pilot now have 4 forward guns?

@@vonrosphe3098 but if you can put them on the pilot hardpoints they will default to forward arc, and I since found the videos demonstrating them you do indeed get 4 forward facing s3 guns
Regarding loading the Nox into the 400i... I that if you reduce throttle output from 100% (NOT input) that it will hover lower/closer to the ground and make it easier to load it into the garage without hitting your head on the underbelly of the ship.

The 300 is ok but just not really mine. I think it just sits way to high on the pad and the weapons really ruin it
I fucking hate the 600. It's so ugly and has one of the worst interior Layout and Design I have ever seen. And it's way to good as a combat ship.
Ok I really like the 890J but it's so large and expensive (and pretty much useless) that I just don't count it.

No one talks about the Ion / Inferno. Is it in PTU? Is it worth it? I own one and thinking of melting it for a C2 for cargo running. Please let me know
I am so decided between this and the Connie Andromeda. I grabbed a Andromeda -> 400i CCU and going to sit on it closer to Beta to see how both of these stack up with future changes.
The Connie is the better ship for the money.
The 400 is more in range of the freelancer but overpriced.

I like the ships looks very much, both inside and out.
But man the guns are so tiny. And I'm disappointed that the Turrets don't retract, that's one of my favorite features of the 600i and 890J.
I'd have made it a few metres longer to get the holo table on the bridge, and an entertainment area at the back, and I'd have rounded the edges a little, like current gen Origin, as the sharp edges make it look like the old Origin styling. I'd have also widened the nose to fit side-by-side speeders, and more room in the entry area. It looks like they've taken some other manufacturer's ship, shoved some Origin style engines on the back, and done an Origin interior.
They definitely need to be rid of the inner-thought on buttons, and maybe change it to a tooltip instead.
It resembles the Naboo ship more than the mandalorian ship
Does VTOL and Landing Gear effect thruster output/maneuverability?
People are saying it does. It shouldn't though in a ship like this. There are no vtol thruster visible.
@@SubliminaLstv I don't know if the system prioritizes the lower thrusters or something. I've been on/off SC for a long time and only recently (maybe only 3.14? correct me if wrong) noticed that ships that don't have proper/rotating VTOL elements can still engage VTOL mode. That wasnt the case before. I'm just wondering if it messes with the thrusters. I do know that gear out lowers something because you can be maintaining speed and drop the gear and the ships slow down. I wonder if these two things makes the ship handle/accelerate better. Hey Subliminal. Idk if you'll see this and I like your videos but in the future can you please move the camera smoothly? Your mouse hand is moving like a COD match instead of a ship tour. It's driving me nuts. Makes it hard to keep track of where you are in the ship. Other than that good stuff.

Agree it's not as agile as the Connie (yet ... It'll be tweaked soon) but I have to disagree about it not being faster. It's not "quicker" (it accelerates like a sloth in a pool of molasses) but when the adversaries that are chasing it have reached their top speed, the 400i is still accelerating away.
With a top speed of 1250 mps, there are only two or three ships in the verse that are faster. It starts slow, but after it gets going, color it GONE!
I think that's the reason it has such good rear turret coverage. It's made to explore and run if there's trouble. The rear end (shrinking out of sight with guns blazing) is the view most enemy will see.
The buttons Def should be like that for every ship
Is the second skin you're looking at the Concierge "Penumbra" or the early-adopter "Meridian"? Because I thought the concierge one had some gold highlights.
[edit] ok, got to the third one now, ok. But there's two other skins too, another white and black (Calacatta), and a white/grey/yellow (Stratus). I think both are going to look pretty sharp. Oh, and another black and red (Afterglow) that almost looks more like a matte finish... tbh I thought matte was the oddest choice for Origin, but I guess they already did it for the 325a customization when that came out a couple years back. [edit2] Wait, just saw the turret views - they're both Penumbras maybe? Or did one move? I'm confused...
I think he just misspoke. The second 400i skin is the CitizenCon skin "Meridian" while as you said the concierge skin is the black/dark grey "Penumbra" with gold accents.
@@FN1980a Yeah, I was confused at first, I think both the other ships in the video are the Penumbra skin. The gold accents just didn't show clearly when he was walking around the outside - probably the lighting angle.
Admiral command variant or escort: Navy gray with a turret on the bow, guns on the wings. Cargo adjusted to fit a rover or cyclone, super long range radar 🤔 compliment an M2 ground invasion. Be like a cutter or frigate. Origin branch out 🤷♂️🤞🏻

I love the ships design and I would've upgraded to it if it wasn't a Pathfinder. Because it's a Pathfinder and not a small expedition like the Connie was a deal breaker for me. We have too much pathfinders and this just seems like an expensive addition to a long line. Much rather have a cheap expedition ship other than the Connie. In case anyone is wondering what the difference is Pathfinder exploration ships are going to be useful to find ship wrecks, anomaly's, and other solar system type things, expedition is going to be used to explore other solar systems and navigating through new jump points. Sorry for the rant I was genuinely disappointed with that one detail because it's a beautiful ship, and the orgin series always give me an Enterprise D feel that I'd love in an expedition ship but like some I don't feel like getting a 600i or carrack just yet.

Not being a pos just a serious question. Is that ship worth the 400$ you paid for it? I haven’t played the game just seems as if they charge a huge amount for assets.
It's not supposed to be about the ship. The money funds the games development. To some people however the $250 for this ship is worth the money because value is relative $250 may be alot to you and me but there are people who make that in an hour. Also since you don't play the game I'll inform you that this ship will be available for in-game currency in three months. So again it's not about the ship rather just the consumers way of funding the game
The 400 is everything I've hoped it would be, but they waited until I didn't have the money to buy it...I hope the sale goes on for a while.

I think the exterior of this is GORGEOUS! My issue is, the outside doesnt scream "Origin". With that, i think the inside clashes with the outside. I think it would look better had it been a Drake.

But I do have to give it credit for looking like a lux space yacht that I will never own/afford and therefore have no choice but to dislike the pretentious douches that do like/own it.
In other words, it's great to have ships in the game you don't like so that there is choices and taste other than yours for ships to buy. Otherwise everyone would be in the same ships and it gets boring. And for me this thing looks great for others to buy so I can see them floating around in space like they are special in the same sense that every bmw, Audi, and Merc driver thinks they are special. We all hate these douches, but imagine if these douches didn't exist, who would we hate then? Ourselves??
