Great video! Thanks for taking us along with you on your journey. Keep up the great work. I'm glad NNormal sponsors you and documented this event in a way that was slightly different from the video you made.
Allie that was me that wished you good luck at the start line in Mammoth. As a regular joe schmoe hobby jogger, I never would have expected to be in a race with pros like you! I'm so happy the race went well for you and I hope to see you at Mammoth again this year!
Loved this video. Beautifully captured. I really felt like I was experiencing the same emotions as Allie who also articulates so well her feelings and processes. I have watched Allie's journey since the Mount Marathon days and I am really willing her on all the way towards her goals. Keep lighting that fire, Allie! xxxx
What an incredible athlete. Allie is a determined, ferocious beast wrapped in this sweet, sometimes goofy package. She's incredible because she has these doubts and fears (that shes brave enough to let us in on) and keeps putting in tremendous and thoughtful effort in all the same. This video gave me chills.
As a long-time fan of Ms. Ostrander, a Junior racer at Mt. Marathon in the 70's, an XC racer from 7th grade through 2yrs of college, and at 60, still running only trails, I've been encouraging her (from behind the keyboard once in a while) to get into the Golden Trail Series, get off the road, and start traveling to train and race in Europe. Last year after her tough race in the GTS, and Pikes, I suggested that she contact you at nnormal, and see if, since she's raced with, and knows, Ms. Forsberg, she could get involved with her, and Mr. Jornet. I'm not trying to take any credit for what she's doing. I'm simply saying that I've seen the potential being unexplored, knew she would be great at it, as XC and Mt. Marathon are her roots, and I knew that Jornet/Forsberg would be the key that unlocked her, AND put that smile back on her face! I'm so stoked to see her in this realm. As a trail runner/racer in very minimalist shoes, may I suggest that you create a shoe that has zero stack, a wider toe box that doesn't come to that rounded "point" like shape, and has a narrow sole at the heel? I understand the need for padding/protection, but a shoe as high as yours, with the raised, wide heel, is going to create ankle rolling, because the foot is too isolated from being able to truly sense the changing terrain conditions, transmit them to the brain in nano-seconds, and have the brain correct for balance, before the runner even knows what's happened. The wide sole at the heel winds up being like trying to lay a book onto a golf ball. With a shoe like yours that promotes heel strike running, instead of forefoot, when the athlete lands on the heel, on something unstable or off camber, that book-laying-on-a-golf ball affect takes the athlete's foot and ankle, and just leverages them, and then the body... instant, severely rolled or sprained ankle. With a narrow, low, heel, the foot just scoots to one side or the other, as the brain instantaneously corrects the entire body for balance, and that entire situation becomes an after thought of, "Wow! I can't believe I didn't just sprain my ankle!" Yes, I know that the subject of shoes has become like a religion, and that Mr. Jornet races in these, and has no problems in them. I'm simply suggesting that a more dialed in version of the shoe, might be a more successful design.
How can I contact you about making a connection with Allie? I’m a XC coach in her area. I admire her work immensely. I also want her to meet my small town XC team. I know she is moving from Seattle to Boulder, and therefore traveling near my town on her journey to altitude. I just think she has a lot to offer my team . I can hook her up with luxury local accommodations and food.
Peculiar choice of athlete for a brand that doesn’t even sell Track/XC shoes…not a mountain athlete…her CT not ready for elite mountain athlete events…she’s trying to get to Paris is Steeplechase. I hope her training becomes more mountain specific if she wants trail running success, otherwise throwing a roadie/trackie/XC’r into trail races just to appease the brand doesn’t make a lot sense to me. ♥ both Allie and NNormal fs tho! 💪🏾🙏🏾
She came 19th in the Golden Trail finals, which is frankly astonishing placing for someone that has run less than half a dozen trail races in the preceeding decade. Her going for the steeple qualifier in an Olympic year makes sense for her, but she admits its a long shot. Looking at her training with David Roche, I'm sure she'll be able to mix it up in the more runnable races at the end of this years series, following many trail miles and lots of training at altitude. Pike's Peak is not in this year, and she's signed up to run Sierre-Zinal, Tatra Skymarathon, Headlands 27k and Mammoth Trail Fest, those are all a lot more forgiving than PPA. My money is on her making the finals and beating her placing from last year.
yo, nnormal, would you consider asking athletes, through athlete contracts, to include the brand name in pre-roll/end card of content they produce? would really help a small brand grow exposure!
@@nnormal_official for example an athlete like Allie or Kilian make a yt video, or another makes a short-form yt short/ig story/tiktok, ask them to include the nnormal logo, in specified font type an size and color, on either the first frame of the video or the last frame of the video. seems very common among cyclists and triathletes sharing videos. including the nnormal brand logo on it's own helps the viewer who isn't familiar with the nnormal brand know what nnormal is, the idea, and also the products. this is of course in addition to the viewer seeing how the products are used in the video along with perhaps hearing the athlete subject in the video use the nnormal name. i hope this helps. while i appreciate organic and genuine brand integrations in videos, for small brands with big stories, in which i would include nnormal, there is far too little recognition of the brand and what it stands for. i say this as someone who has paid for nnormal product too!
@@nnormal_official first few or last few frames of the yt video, yt short, ig story, tiktok include nnormal logo for agreed upon duration, of agreed upon size, and color.
Thank you for supporting my goals and sharing in every step of the way :)
Of course Allie! And the path…just started!

Great adventure, to say the least.

Cool. Never been in a race where you had to go down a concrete stairway to get to the finish.
Can you get Golden Trail points for the Olympic steeplechase? Go Allie go!!!

Higher end neuromuscular output training…u know like running really fast.
