What I love the most about this song is that it encapsulates all the wonder and majesty that Disney is so well known for creating. This song should be used for any Disney promotional material, even more "When You Wish Upon a Star", because this song signals to the audience that you are about to witness something absolutely amazing
Max Ramos Definitely not. Though I do love the 2 massive ones bickering on opposite sides before they get distracted by this egg casually floating past them. Then they awkwardly stare at eachother... and go at it again!
+Max Ramos I do too. Isn't this movie ironic in its release date? To start off the Third Millennium, we create an intensely beautiful movie about Dinosaurs! Whoever came up with that idea is a a genius!
I'd like to say how I don't blame the makers of the movie or anyone else for thinking it 'too many cues from the first land before time ;) ' since that was a pretty awesome animated movie as well
+The Jellybean Adventurer Yeah land before time was my childhood even though I wasnt born when it first came out i had some of the movies of vhs, but this movie and land before time made me love dinosaurs
CosmicStorm I was born years after it came out but it was my favorite movie for a long time. When I discovered this one it was amazing having 3D dinosaurs
Takes me back to my childhood, sitting in front of the tv just waiting for this scene! Such an amazing soundtrack... it still sends chills down my spine.
My take: humans came along long after dinosaurs died out. We may have fossils to understand what they looked and acted like, but we'll never truly witness them in their full glory. In that way, they are epic and mysterious creatures from a time long ago. Hence why we have such epic music about them.
The part where the chorus starts to sing and the music plays louder catchs always my ears and eyes and makes me think "how can disney make such masterpiece of music and real-looking movies?" This movie tells lot about the important thing we all have: friendship & love. Without them no one can truly survive!
At around 1:40, you can hear the Chorus chanting, "Aladar!" As a reference to the movie's main character. This is a lovely piece of music, and certainly captures the scene in which we are given a huge number of dinosaurs in the background, all animated wonderfully and accurately with CGI. This is truly by far one of the most underrated and scientifically-accurate dinosaur films ever devised, and is certainly superior to 'Walking With Dinosaurs 3D.'
Oh man. This movie made me love dinosaurs in a mysterious way. The embodiment of how the music fits the environment of prehistoric times is just so facinating and it would always be my favorite disney movie.
It’s almost appalling how underrated this film is. Everyone just hisses and cries about it’s story being somewhat similar to Land Before Time but don’t possess the brain capacity to appreciate actual beauty. I actively lose brain cells reading their comments but this movie’s soundtrack alone restores and multiplies them. W + ratio.
This is the strange thing about nostalgia, it's not always glamorous. This sound gives me very strong nostalgia that almost makes me want to tear up. About nine years ago I was working in my new career, not making very much money. I lived in kind of a crappy apartment. I was single and no kids. I was actually pretty lost. I didn't have any money to get cable and this was slightly before streaming was a thing. So I had nothing but DVDs to watch on my crappy TV. My buddy gave me some of his throwaway movies. Dinosaur was one of them. I actually didn't even like the movie at all. But one specific day I had the flu and I watched it. I was so bored at home, and the intro screen was playing over and over and over again, and I was too sick to get up and take the DVD out. So the intro song played probably 100+ times, and the memory is engrained in my head. Now I make great money; I have a wife and a daughter and a house; I like my job way better now. The world is overall a better place now...but for some reason, that memory makes me miss those old times from 2010. It's like I wish I could have it back just to enjoy it, just to re-live it and appreciate how great it really was. I don't know. This song just really sticks with me.
This movie was a staple of my childhood. This piece of music will be burned into my mind for the rest of my life. Props to the composer and the orchestra, it's just so well done!
This brings tears to my eyes! This movie was my childhood right here, and this score is just beautiful! And what better Disney Film to start the 3rd Millennium!
I was 7 when this movie first came out and now I'm almost 23! This epic beautiful music captures the essence of the movie itself. It was not one of my favorites but I remember the astonishing artistic narrative, the dark yet stirring story and heartfelt message of family, miracles and love. Happy belated 15th anniversary to Dinosaur
+Charu Saxena I have to side with SAGE. However, for a cartoon that went with realistic looking characters, it hasn't aged that badly. Probably helps that they went with live-action backgrounds.
Timeless yet ephemeral at once. The majesty and memory of a world that can never be again. Energetic, powerful music, matching the visuals perfectly. If only we could witness the real thing. This was always a favourite from the soundtrack. It gets the respect for the Dinosaurs so right.
The Egg Travels track is the best track of the Dinosaur film and soundtrack, Next to soundtracks of Jurassic Park, The Lost World: Jurassic Park, Jurassic Park III, and Jurassic World. Would't it have been really awesome if this exact same track was used for a trailer of Jurassic Park sequal that I came up with called "Jurassic Park: Escape" starting at 1:39 for the middle of the theatrical trailer and also for the arrival at the island scene of an airplane flying and the heards of herbivorous dinosaurs scattering all over the fields starting at 1:20.
Watched this movie with my brother in Danish when I was around 5 and up. Absolute masterpiece. We referenced to it as "Aladar" and not by it's real name. We'd only get to watch it when were visited Grandma, as she had a DVD player, and the movie was on DVD. Man.
this is one of the first movies i ever seen. have so much nostalgia with this movie. absolutely love this movie. too bad this is so underrated and never got a sequel.
+Indominus Reviews I completely agree! But then again, Disney is (sadly) notorious for crummy/ mediocreish sequels. Lately anyway. But yes, it really does deserve a sequel.
I feel like the advartisement lied to us in a way........look at the trailer compared to the film......the beggining gave us the good part no talking and they were animals telling a story without them talking.......but to tell the truth this is one of my fav musical scores EVER!

I remember as a little kid, my aunt would put this on for me and my cousins to watch and we always enjoy watching it. Along with the Toy Story movies, and those great or dumb family movies. Today as a teenager, I only watch it once, each and every year and there is gonna be a day where I'll stop and show it to my future kids. Despite the violent pair of carnoataurs.
Just rewatched this movie again after a long time. The music is what always ends up bringing me back to these old films. Seriously underrated movie and soundtrack.
James Newton Howard really brought it out with this score. I actually saw this piece being performed at the Orange County Performing Arts Center as part of some Prehistoric concert series. This, as well as the Theme from Jurassic Park, was performed by the orange county symphony orchestra. Still remember it from 2 years ago, especially this song.

This movie had really incredible animation considering it came out in 2000
this was all robotic animatronics... some CG though
countryguitarist2005 There weren't any animatronics... They were all CGI.
Cyb3rElectr0 No, but animation has gotten MUCH better since then, so the animation from 2000 looks very dated in most cases.
Sting I agree, despite the fact that the Dinosaurs look like if the animation of Shrek was used to animate the Dinosaurs from Jurassic Park.
