Watercolor Scenery with One Colour: Indigo Woods

- Hi guys I wanted to do a simple scenery with 1 colour today. I chose Indigo by Schmincke to be my colour of choice, but you can also pick other dark colours that you have so you can have a wide range in values. I decided n this subject because the elements are quite repetitive, but this is also doable for other paintings as well if you just want to practice painting values. Hope you guys enjoy! Aaa!! I LOVE monochrome paintings, ever since I tried one from Makoccino, I've been so fascinated by these kinds of paintings and there aren't that many on TH-cam surprisingly. So this is so great to see from one of my favorite watercolor TH-cam channels 💙

Beautiful, I've always loved monochromatic paintings. It forces the viewer to use their imagination as to what is going on in the painting.

You know, for some reason I always thought indigo was more purple than this. You learn something every day. This is still a VERY lovely color regardless!

This is a great exercise and interesting approach! Most tend to go from light to dark values, but here you go from both ends of the value spectrum towards the middle. Going to try this as soon as I finished my hot chocolate that I’m enjoying while watching this video.

Using the Indigo color suggests an emotional depth which draws in my eye. A lovely painting process - my cat was watching too! It looks like it takes a lot of patience to do.
