If you call that major damage lol you have a lot to learn

Crashing isn't inevitable. Pushing one's self beyond one's own skills, beyond conditions, beyond reaction times, and beyond what is prudent is a mindset. It's not "when you crash" it's "when you believe you're better than you think you are" and things happen. Looking at your spill, whatever that front tire was doing, it wasn't much, considering all the other riders went through that curve easily. Strange. Oil slick? Sand? Or just plain hockey-puck rubber?
There's crash protection pucks for most bikes, probably would have eliminated most of the hard parts scraping. Worth the money for an expensive ride.

There must be oil and grease on the track which caused your crash. It looks totally unpredictable at such low speed.

Easily 2000 euros of damage you replace with original spare parts

Sorta similar damage to my MT-10 except on street not track so it was insurance....the shop that did the estimate (greedy I think but all they made was a tiny bit for an estimate I TOOK THE MONEY not them lol) They counted ANYTHING with even a scratch or slightest tiny bend full msrp parts value and labor to install ....and so believe it or not the estimate came to over $10K! New model so only some parts avaialble used but needless to say I pocketed some cash on that one...of course Insurance companies will likely get all back in premiums but it still felt good coming out temporarily ahead anyway

I worry about this all the time with my v4s... I am getting close to sub-2min laps now, so I know I am on borrowed time. I had my first crash a couple weeks ago, but luckily I was on my new FS450 at a much smaller track, so it only cost me a new suit, boots, and one slider. The gloves and helmet came out OK, surprising. I didn't get mine on camera unfortunately.

Glad to see you ok. Hate it for the bike. Looks like your bike fared better than my low side last week at VIR. Enjoy the videos

Real simple solution for this... get a track bike. Couple grand for a decent bike that will be faster than you're capable of riding it. If you wreck it, you don't really care. Update: just watched the video. Those lines.... yikes. Lol.

I've never done track so I may not know what I'm talking about. Why is he overemphasizing his body position when the bike is barely leaning and why is he hugging the inside line? I thought the proper procedure to enter a turn was outside, inside, outside. Also, fuck bringing a Ducati to a rainy track day.

    • @JacobVillemain
      @JacobVillemain  ปีที่แล้ว

They were teaching us to overemphasize body position so you conserve lean angle. And different corners are approached differently. Certain corners are sacrificial for be benefit over lap times. The outside-inside-outside approach is very general & basic

Install whats called frame sliders. Keeps those repairs parts prices down. Because your smart enough to know it's gonna happen again.

  • @slothmarathonpromotions2470

Little bondo and some paint on those fairings and cover and they’ll be good as new. Maybe grab some frame sliders. They’re good to have even if you just drop your bike in the driveway.

Watched that slip a couple times… that was painful but thankfully slow enough to not be hurt or do serious damage. Video can be deceiving in poor conditions - there was a lot of standing water where you went down. Would you ride a rain day on track on your own? I get that it is learning but maybe not necessary at this point. Glad you’re OK.

Had the same crash this week on the right side with my SF V4S. I scratched the same parts. But the cluth cover need to be replaced. It is only 200€. So I was quiet happy so see that it won't cost that much.

Whew! That was close. Thought you trashed a V4. Now that I know it's just a V2 the news is not so tragic.

$700 for a cover? Saw you on the track today at MSR Houston so I guess you got everything in order. Great weather today. Too bad about that Aprilia that crashed today.

Stupid question but don't they make a exoskeleton thing like I've seen on GSXs to protect the body incase you down the bike?

I’ve totally done the same thing, but I was on the street! I thought I was never going to get a breath of air I hit the ground so hard. I rode the bike the rest of the way in to work and left a trail of blood and oil through the shop, we were both bleeding! Probably why my right shoulder hurts when it rains now 😂

Thank you for the video. There are tons of videos show casing a motorcycle’s ride/reviews but not enough videos showing life’s little mishaps and how to remedy it. Much appreciated!
