How to connect a Sub-Breaker Panel !! Why the neutral & ground separated in a Sub-Breaker Panel?

  • If a ground fault occurs it needs one low impedance path to the main panel which transfers current to the transformer and back to the main panel breaker to clear the fault , with ground and neutral bond in the sub-panel current can travel on both the ground and the neutral back to the main source etc . The ground wire in the sub-panel should always be zero potential difference (pd). Neutral and Ground should always be separated in a sub-panel whilst in the main there should be a bond. So true. Because bonding the neutral to the ground in a subpanel will allow current to flow over the ground wire back to the main electrical panel. and u don't want that to happen. Because current is now flowing over the ground wire, someone could be shocked by it. So under normal current operation the ground wire should not carry any current. Only in case of ground fault situation.

    Simpliest definition of diversity factor is the max sum of individual loads on a circuit e.g 12 lights on a cuicuit but all 12 lights may or may not use at the same time in this case the required amount of loads you have on a circuit not all the time all of them are using at the same time.

    In the UK there are three types of supply systems, TN-C-S , Combined protective and neutral conductor .In other word the neutral act as a return earthing path back to the transformer,which offers a low Impedance approx. 0.35 ohms. Next we have TN-S system, separate earthing usually the armoured of the cable sheath back to the supply transformer, impedance 0.8 ohms. Last, TT system where no earthing is provided, external earth fault loop impedance 21 ohms. The client provides their own Earthing Rod.It is recommended that the earth fault loop impedance for a TT System does not exceed 200 ohms. Just some information from the British side.

    That independent ground is coming from the panel?

    Hey why does current spike? My fan speed up by itself the goes backs to normal in few seconds. The main breaker is 70amp connected to a 10 mm cable. Lights on 15amp switch and plugs or on 2021 phone switch

    WHAT IS DIVERSITY FACTOR???

      Well diversity factor is when like u r trying to calculate the amerage of a load. To find the right wire size for the load.

      @@affluentj4992 Well they use a formula for diversity that is P=VI there is a lot more to it. Maybe Glenroy will have to do a video on that for for explain. Because doing diversity u would also u the JS21 to determine stuff involving diversity.

    WHAT IS MEANT BY ZERO POTENTIAL??? AND HOW DO I ACHEIVE ZERO POTENTIAL IN A PANEL?????

    • @adrianfrancis1156
      @adrianfrancis1156 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well my friend zero potential difference. Is with the neutral and ground. Because if u should measure for voltage between neutral and ground. There should be no zero potential difference
      meaning no voltage. Why because the netural would carry
      current but ground would not. So in order to get a voltage current must flow on both wires. However, if u get a voltage between ground and netural some live/ hot is touch the ground. In some cases.

    • @adrianfrancis1156
      @adrianfrancis1156 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      To maybe achieve this zero potential ensure no live is touch the metal frame or ground side.
