Today we’re going to talk about the best vegetable for gastritis. I believe the best vegetable for gastritis is cabbage.
Gastritis is essentially an inflamed stomach. This is a major problem. It could take years for your stomach to become inflamed. Typically this is a chronic problem after taking Aspirin for many years, taking steroids, the overuse of antacids, or a bad diet. The main symptom of gastritis is upper central abdominal pain. There may also be bloating.
A few gastritis triggers:
• Chronic stress
• Not enough sleep
• Sugar and refined carbs
• Too much coffee
• H. Pylori (destroys the mucus lining, lowers stomach acid, lowers intrinsic factor)
There is a great natural remedy for gastritis that is actually the same remedy for H. pylori. You want to consume foods high in sulforaphane, which would be cabbage and broccoli sprouts. But, cabbage also has other phytonutrients that could greatly help in reducing inflammation because they’re anti-inflammatory. It’s also loaded with vitamin C, which can help clean up the free-radical damage coming from the inflammation.
If you have gastritis, your diet is crucial. You need to consume very high-quality foods, you need to cut out any junk, and you need to do intermittent fasting. Mastic gum may also help inhibit H. Pylori if you have an infection.
A few more things you could do for gastritis:
1. Take a probiotic
2. Chew on raw black seeds
3. Take zinc carnosine
You may want to start by having more cabbage and broccoli sprouts. Gastritis can take months to heal. Once it has healed, then you could start to acidify the stomach with apple cider vinegar or betaine hydrochloride.

I was just diagnosed with gastritis on 5/4/22 by endoscopy. My symptoms are the following, nausea, early satiety, constant burping, feeling full all the time, loss of appetite, pain in the upper belly and radiating through my back as well as weight loss. Since being diagnosed, I have been eating a very strict diet, walking an hour a day, meditating, and getting 7-8 hours of sleep. I am already seeing improvements in my symptoms. The nausea has almost completely left, I used to burp about 40 times an hour, now it is more like 10 times an hour and the burps are more gentler rather than the hard belching I had before. I am even getting a bit of appetite back. I still got long ways to go but I am so happy I am already seeing very good improvements. Never took the PPI's, flushed them down the toilet.
Can you please tell me what type of foods you ate like for breakfast lunch dinner
@@icediamonds11 Basically a very bland diet. Typical breakfast is one boiled egg, with two gluten free buckwheat crackers and a banana. For snack, I drink either kefir or coconut water plus fruits like watermelon, papaya, mango, or honeydew. Lunch is boiled chicken breast, with yellow squash, cabbage, and carrots. Sometimes I eat sardines for lunch. Dinner is more boiled chicken, beets, avocado, and some organic hummus. I also eat small meals, but 5 times a day and I am seeing really awesome results!
@@josephochoa3136 do you season the chicken?

Man i had gastritis last year and what a rollercoaster it was. Took so long to heal. Cabbage juice and eating healthy, no junk food, and exersizing plus many many months and I've been back to normal for over 2 months now. Even eating anything I want except in moderation on junk foods.
Hello, im having same issue and its been horrible. Where you on any antibiotics and omeprazole?
@@ejiroetsaghara733 do you have h pylori?
@@donsantos8798 yes i do, however i have been taking the antibiotics for two weeks now. I'm wondering if i should stop taking it and re run another test to confirm if the hyplori is gone? what do you think pls.
@@ejiroetsaghara733 h pylori antibiotics don't usually run for longer than 14 days.
It is advised you restest 4 weeks after antibiotics treatment to check if you eradicated h pylori
@@donsantos8798 thank you for this. i will go back in four weeks to retest. However, does gastritis cause lower abdominal pain ,a pain that feel like appendicitis?
All I can say is that cabbage juice worked miracles for me. I went to a naturopath and did a breath test to rule out H-plori. It turns out I was negative. The diagnosis was simply Gastritis with low stomach acid. I was then put on Betaine Hydrochloride which fixed 80% of this issue with one single capsule twice a day. I have now been juicing cabbage for 3 weeks and I am 95% better (3 cups of cabbage juice a day). It's actually incredible how much a difference it has made. Took about 10 days of take cabbage juice for the benefits to kick and to start noticing the difference.
Everything I've read and watched has said no HCL while having gastritis. So that didn't hurt your stomach?
@@BetsyMessa In my case, I could only handle one capsule of Betaine HCL per meal whereas most people need a lot more capsules. The Betaine HCL fixed majority of the problem (90% of all gassiness is gone). I started juicing cabbage and it's pretty much 100% better. I should also add that I'm also on Zinc Carnosine (another supplement Dr. Berg Recommends). Overall, I do think you're right. There is something odd about me only being able to tolerate 1 capsule. But somehow it has worked for me.
Hii , how can I take cabbage juice please tell me ..I have antral gastritis.
@@BetsyMessa Taking one capsule twice a day did not hurt me. It fixed 80% of the random pains and non- stop burping. The cabbage juice took care of the rest.
@@sonamsharma1710 Buy a juicer machine and then buy green cabbage and start juicing it raw. Doesn't taste great, but it works

Finally someone who explains his reasoning behind each recommendation so that I can more accurately tailor it to my gastritis. Fed up of sources that list Do’s and Don’ts with no reasoning. After reasearching 5 of these kinds of sources I usually end up with 5 conflicting pieces of information.
Dr.Berg, you have provided a good starting point for me to Build from which is all I needed since I first went to the doctors 7 months ago.
I’ve just been discharged from hospital with a gastritis diagnosis. All they gave me was omeprazole - none of the helpful information you have now shared about how to treat underlying causes! Thank you Dr. Berg!!!
Me too. Hospital even served orange juice for me at breakfast, which I knew to avoid
@@kd2533 it's infuriating, isn't it? I was diagnosed with gastritis today and the doctor didn't even bother to tell me what foods I should avoid until I inquired at the last moment.
It's almost as if they expect us to have visions in the night where we unconsciously assimilate all the knowledge on how to not make Gastritis worse. Most of them are just so used to seeing sick people that they look at us like chickens in a poultry farm; they just diagnose and prescribe medicines, and if it doesn't work, well then, too bad. There are millions of other chickens in the line.
They not there solve any problem. They there for paycheck. More you sick more paycheck for them.

I feel like every doctor I’ve spoken to wants to just treat with pills and let you leave, instead of really promoting good habits! Rather than pills, maybe I just needed a dietitian! @@harshita0807 I had an Upper GI done, they sampled some of my stomach lining as well as diagnosing the cause.
I had to come and say thank you so much to Dr. Berg. I got really sick about 15 days ago now. It was so bad - the stomach burning, I was in tears some nights. I ended up at the quick care and they diagnosed Gastritis. They prescribed Prilosec, but I hate taking meds and really wanted a natural way to help this. I already do intermittent fasting though not keto (and my stomach felt good as long as I was not eating) but once I ate. Oh boy! The pain! I'm on day two of introducing cabbage into my meals. And wow! All I can say is that this is such a lifesaver. A quarter cup of coleslaw with each meal, wow! Just wow! Some sauerkraut with dinner last night and wow! What about people with hypothyridism????
He talks about it in his other gastritis video
I got gastritis during CFIDS in the 1990s. Also was under LOTS of stress. Before that I’d been a heavy coffee drinker, 9 cups a day. Got a gastroscopy, no ulcer but some inflammation. A gastroenterologist told me I had LOW stomach acid. Then in 2015 learned I lack intrinsic factor and was put on B12. Now it only acted up as I was taking a lot of powdered C as antiCovid prophylaxis AND eating tons of hot red chili peppers!
Do you mean your blood test show u have low B12 ?? How do your doctor know u lack of instrinsic factor??
According to the late Jay Kordash, the Juiceman, the cabbage juice must be at room temperature because rapidly drinking cold juice will cause nausea and you have to drink it all in about a minute after juicing. He said the reason for that is sulforaphane degrades rapidly. Also, eating whole cabbage with gastritis would be torture. Your gut is in no condition to digest whole cabbage.
I just boiled cabbage in water and drink the purple water. I'm a bit scared because i'm hoping the cabbage doesn't bring on more bloat and burping. I'm also fearful of its fermentation qualities in the stomach and it giving off more gas as it ferments. I dunno at this point.
This is the second bad bout of gastritis I have due to ongoing severe stress. Last time I had it a GP would not let me wean off the Ppis and told me to stay off spicy food. Thats all. But it is a lot more than that. This time around I am 8 yrs older than I had it last and the gastritis is worse. I hv started the cabbage juice. Will post in a few wèeks. My healing wishes to all those suffering.
Good luck! Keep us posted please.

It’s mentioned in his other video
I quickly found out that intermittent fasting makes my stomach produce lots of acid, so it appears IF can exacerbate the issue for some people. I tried 16/8 fast: stop food at 4pm, break my fast at 10am. Well, I’d wake up in the morning and immediately get the gnawing acid feeling, and doesn’t stop no matter how much water I drink, it won’t stop. Only when I put food in my stomach it subsides. I also wake up in the night with it at 3-4am. I’d recommend cutting out dark chocolate, that did improve things for me somewhat. I’m going to try cabbage, but I already deal with so much bloating and gas from any kind of fibre, it makes me nervous. P.s. NEVER do ACV (apple cider vinegar) if you have this - pouring acid on your raw stomach lining is a BAD IDEA, like Dr Berg says. Unfortunately easy mistake to make as gastritis can resemble SIBO, for which ACV is recommended. Agony.
How are you doing 9 months later?
@@jordanwofford2733 Still have the issue, unfortunately. Still on keto, but I have had to drop the amount of meat I eat as it seems to make things worse. Literally the only guy out that talks about the carnivore diet and what happens if you have low stomach acid and SIBO. I watch all these videos on the carnivore diet and these guys all act like its fine for SIBO...Gastroparesis....Low stomach acid etc. Put me in the hospital i was so compacted. Was not breaking down the protein. One doc said that the reason i wasnt pooping that much was because the body absorbs almost all the meat. lol Wish i could show him my Ab CT.
What's Ab CT?
Thanks a lot Dr. Berg for englightening us in a simple and clear way… What i want to ask is should a person suffering from gastritis have a lower stomatch acid until getting rid of the inflammation? Or still keep the 1-3 acid level? Thanks again.
All this time I thought it was the acid from drinking regular brewed coffee on an empty stomach...
Switched to cold brew....
Helped a little, not a lot.
Coffee is a whole food group for me. Like the taste (black and strong), and the stimulant bump.
Does anyone have any suggestions about gut-healthy coffee consumption?
To be frank, it would take a lot for me to give it up.
Any helpful suggestions would be most welcomed and appreciated!
I've been avoiding cabbage because I thought it make my gastric worse.
Thanks for the info, doc.

I didn't see any mention of celery. I've read many times that celery is great for the gut. Am I wrong? I've been suffering from gastritis for months and was finally diagnosed after an endoscopy. I'm working hard to repair the damage through diet. I'm doing many of the things you've mentioned in your video. However, the juice I make each morning also includes celery. I am juicing red cabbage, celery, one apple, carrots and beet. I drink this in the morning about 30 minutes after taking a probiotic and mastic gum on an empty stomach.
How do you feel with it?
@@synyster_gaitas Happy to say my stomach is feeling GREAT these days. No gas or bloating and no abdominal pain at all. NOTE: I also drink an ACV drink(ACV, honey, lemon juice) every other day around noon.
@@geecee1990how long did you treat it?
Been suffering with gastritis for almost a year (has gotten better but still pretty bad). No h-pylori or reason for it. Cabbage keeps calling out to me - I’ll be combining what you recommend with low-fodmap.
Any update?
Dr Berg, you are amazing! I also read scientific journals talking about the herb dragon blood for gastritis and ulcers! Could you also talk about that? Thank you so much for your incredible work! :)
Currently taking this along with other natural juice and turmeric and aloe Vera juice
And diet as well
Thanks so much for your advise. I was wondering, what would be the best way to eat the cabbage?
I was diagnosed with H pylori so I took the antibiotics but continue to have problems with digestion, I have allot of Constipation , could I also have Sibo ?

Very informative, Doctor can you plz post video on esophagitis thnx
I got chronic gastritis and my doctor is prescribing me antiacids (omeopazole) 😤 plus I also have pernicious anemia! I am following your advice better! Thank you dr berg
They always wanna give you omeprazole. They are so ignorant. Stay away from it. Follow this video
Can I ask, how did you get diagnosed with PA? My B12 has always been high but I suspect it's a false high on the labs. I don't supplement with B12, and I have lots of PA symptoms.
I had horrible stomach pain from eating sauerkraut. Any idea why? I also cannot tolerate broccoli, broccoli, Brussels, or bell peppers anymore either without severe gas, stomach pain and even nausea. This happened suddenly out of nowhere and now it’s been years since I’ve enjoyed these foods.
Cabbage is high in FODMAPS... good for stomach, rough on intestines.
Get tested for sibo
This is really my problem gastritis.
Thanks for sharing this video.
Watching from the Philippines.
As per some sources, cabbage juice would work for people with LOW stomach acid. I tried it anyway and juice definitely made things worse.
Also, it seems like fiber (even from very healthy sources) can irritate the stomach lining, so cabbage, for example, might not be your friend.
I tried the cabbage juice and it made me very nauseous. I tried cooked cabbage and it made my stomach very acidic and bloated me very badly. So yes also get very bloated from fiber.
Is cabbage juice ok for me if I have ibs also,
2:13 here comes the root of all my problems....
Edit:
1. Gastritis
2. Complications leads to less absorbing of B12
3. Leads to various problems including Rapid Heart Rate.
4. RHR leads to anxiousness.
5. Adrenaline rushes all over.
6. Heart Rate increased further.
7. Also RHR increases Blood Pressure.
Vicious Cycle goes on....
Now on IF, eat thrice a day but maintain atleast 14 hour gap between diet, exercise twice a day, eat healthy, NO JUNK FOOD, NO SUGAR.
you described mu life currently. wow
Did you cute? I have gastritisis plus SIBO... I always ate home cooked food, yet I had it since childhood, ironic.... I dont know what to do to get rid of it... Any advice?

I have gastritis and it is pretty bad, I was told to fast but I am scared to fast because when I don’t eat I get a lot of pain. What can I do?
In some of his videos on fasting, Dr Berg explains that fasting increases stomach acid. But if one has gastritis, one's stomach is not in a condition to have more stomach acid. So he said in another video to use wheatgrass juice powder and green vegetables powders to rebuild the stomach lining. I also think Omega3 would help a lot too. But check Dr Berg's videos on these subjects if you have not done until now.
Feedback after 1 year?
One doctor recommended aloe Vera on empty stomack to rebuild the lining
I have had an inflamed stomach Dr Berg for the last 4 weeks and I am giving coal effect they are brilliant I cannot eat too much cabbsge, because I am on warfarin but this video is awesome

Great advice Dr. Berg. Highly appreciate all of your outstanding efforts and advices. Thanks a lot.
I have Gastritis as well as Gastroparesis and I have chronic nausea. I take two medications for it (one being a cancer drug) but I’d love to figure out what else I can do to help it. It’s so tough since I can’t eat a lot of foods and I’m just at a loss! Any tips would be greatly appreciated. And obviously basic things like ginger tea and wrist bands have all been tried, but I’m still all ears 🙏❤️
Great content as always!Would love to see a video about bile acid malabsortion and how to fix it, there is so many confusion about that.

Thank you, Dr. Berg, but what else should someone with gastritis eat besides cabbage, broccoli sprouts? Can't eat meat for the reasons you mentioned but what other foods are good to eat?
I do not like to use my PPI at 40mgs anymore as by having to learn myself, that several years of it only was causing me Iron deficiency & B12 deficiency, but as I notice in your video we must keep some acid to do the carnivore diet as I feel I do have SIBO & the acid pain into my throat on the daily without some form of acid reducing meds I am again in pain. Any advice Doctor?
I got Gastritis from eating mold over 3 days and I am scared it never goes away. I am 23 and had to stop University because of all the pain. I hope I can get better someday

Dr. Berg I've been watching your videos for quite a while now. But I really hope you could make a video of a diet plan on how to maintain a keto diet with High blood pressure and Gastritis combined . I have both by the way
I'm 27 this year. Keto helped lowered my BP significantly. If my Gastritis is not improving from the Keto diet. I may have to give up....
Any news on that?
Which of his tips on gastritis have you tried? What about fasting, using his powder supplements so that no solid foods enter the stomach for a while?
Can you do a video of how to do a diet for ppl that have gastritis like what to eat and when to eat ?
I have found cabbage juice to be an excellent remedy for diarrhoea etc., I use shredded chinese cabbage ( Wombok ) & blend it with apple juice & to improve the taste just add some fresh mint leaves in the blender .Really works !!

I was just diagnosed autoimmune gastritis.. on my 2-3 ppi and still feel like crap..going to try these suggestions 🙏
Plz tell me how you diagnosed autoimmune and what you caused by ,
I have chronic hypochlorydria and delayed gastric emptying, constipation,
I did intermittent fasting and I got gastritis. Now I have to constantly eat to smooth the pain
Lie
I quickly found out that intermittent fasting makes my stomach produce lots of acid, so I agree with you, it appears IF can exacerbate the issue. I tried 16/8 fast, stop food at 4pm, break my fast at 10am. Well, I’d wake up in the morning and immediately the gnawing acid feeling starts, and doesn’t stop no matter how much water I drink. Only when I put food in my stomach it subsides. It also wakes me up in the night and 3-4am. I’d recommend cutting out dark chocolate if you haven’t already. That did improve things for me somewhat.
Do you have any video on Gastroparesis and it's causes? New subscriber awesome videos I've learned so many things that I should've known
