ZI have been around for nearly 75 years, and have seen A LOT of rock bands. In my humble opinion Band Maid is one of the TOP rock bands in the world. They need a lot more exposure and promotion.
For guys of your and my age who grew up on classic guitar rock, Band-Maid's music resonates with that nostalgia bone, they hit it hard, but at the same time the songs are new, fresh and exciting. Their catalogue of excellence runs very deep after ten years, so I am looking forward to more Band-Maid reactions. It's time to cover the original "Secret My Lips" now that you've done the Maiko version.
Kanami: _"Misa, I'm so sorry, I forgot to include a solo for you."_ Misa (after taking a good sip of her beer): _"No problem, I'll just play mine alongside yours."_ One line of the lyrics says it all! 👇🏻... Greetings from Germany and all the best to you both for 2024. ✌🏻 _____________________ 「 _"Our rock never dies ever. Forever!"_ 」 - from *BAND-MAID* - 'Manners' 🎶🕊
Good Manners? Oh, yeah! Thanks lead guitarist Kanami for your compositions, and 2nd guitarist Miku for your lyrics, and everyone else for everything else. Like the unique, awesome outro, every Band-Maid song has a touch of class because the Maids have class. A remarkable, important band in so many aspects! "aw, aw, aw, aw, aw, aw, aw, awesome!" Thx, Vincent and Jason!
Happy New year you two! I really hope you get the chance to see some footage from the Yokohama Arena gig they did recently. The blue ray will hopefully be coming out this spring. They did some shit that will blow your minds and is just another step in their evolution. This band just keeps getting better and better and better and...they let you know, in the words of this song, their intentions... "Our Rock Never Dies ever, Forever!!!! Groove! Beginning! Difficult! Progress, Courage! Evolution, Clever, Always Challenging,,,!!!"
It's not just that it's groovy, or that it's a catchy melody, or that you've never heard anything like this from them before; it's the tons of little things they do that give the song that extra flavor and personality that makes the song stand out. Does the song work without Miku's backing "ah ah ah's" or the little guitar squeals, or her shouting courage? Yes, of course it would still be great. Is it all those little things that elevate the song to the next level? Absolutely.
The maids had their best year ever in 2023. They capped it off with an epic show at Yokohama arena where they played 33 songs. Many with new intros or added solo sections. You guys reacted to their Lolla performance of "Dice/Hate?" but the version from Yokohama was even more epic.
Marvelous song - such a lot of beautiful moments in that video . And then ... only 1,4 million views in over two years? That's almost an affront to the band.
Sugoi! Another good reaction. I don't know anyone who has a favorite BAND-MAID song (unless you've only heard just one). It's almost impossible not to have multiple favorite songs. Arigatou! 🤘🤘 #SurrenderLove #LetsDance
♥ that old time bluesy hard rock groove! Such a great song! Top tier Band Maid here! You should check out the live version of this. On that version you can more clearly hear Miku & Misa's importance to this track Also suggesting their song Bubble. Plus the video is bit of an homage/tribute to Freddie Mercury
Now for the 2fer LIVE.."MANNERS"...."Black Hole"..Know how much you love MISA..she is high in mix for the 2fer...And you get to hear Miku as she is really buried in the MV...."Black Hole" will have you thinking WTF!!!...hehehe! 😉
Happy New Year dudes! Ya, Band-Maid tapped into a very wide audience that encompasses a really varied sampling of multi-genres of music and listener ages, that's for sure! I'm an old white guy and they brought me back into liking music again, when I had basically given up on the modern..."stuff" lol. Cheers!
Happy New Year Gents from Australia, B-M unbelievable, they musically punch a hole in ya chest and steal ya heart and ya damn happy about it, what a fcken band Po, okay even though it's way late here in Oz it's time for another beer and some more of these amazing Rock Goddesses, cheers 👍🍻🍻
Happy new year! However, Band-Maid and my country of Japan were hit by a major earthquake, and a major accident occurred when a Japan Airlines plane collided with a Japan Coast Guard plane that was attempting to deliver relief supplies. So it's a dark new year.😢 So I listen to Band-Maid to cheer myself up a little. Thank you for uploading a Manners reaction video under these circumstances. You guys have uploaded many Band-Maid songs so far, but please the “Onset” reaction as well. Also, please listen to "Sokoninaru / Tenohira De Odoru" OMV. You are guaranteed to be blown away.
These events are heartbreaking, and doubly so when those trying to help perish in their attempts. They are truly brave and self-sacrificing, as are all the fire-fighters and rescue workers putting themselves at risk to find and save people trapped in the rubble. Grateful, too, that lessons learned in previous disasters have kept so many others safe. That an entire transoceanic airliner with over 375 people aboard collided with another airplane at 225 Kph and no one perished is remarkable. That an earthquake of this magnitude has not been far worse is a testament to the intelligence and clear-headed responses by Japanese civil engineers and other to prior earthquakes. My relatives on the west coast of the United States are benefiting also. Listen to "About Us" and know "everyone’s here, you’re not alone."
@@surfingasongwave Thank you so much for your words of encouragement. Your kindness and thoughtfulness brings tears to my eyes.😭 And I am amazed at how well you understand Japan. I always feel that many of Maidiacs like not only their music but also their humanity, and maybe that is why so many of them are so nice. Thank you so much.🤗
Happy New Year! It's always fun to see you react to our beloved Maids and we hope to see much more! 😃 And we Maidiacs are quite a lovely bunch, aren't we? 😉
Happy New Year gents 🥃 As you said, I would love to hear what a heavy hitter rock producer would do with them. If only to get Kanami’s intricate and creative guitar work up front. Congratulations on getting so many views, comments, etc on your Band Maid reactions. There are tons of reactors, but not many give thoughtful and meaningful feedback; well done 👍🏼 A new album is coming this year, so there will be another 10-15 tracks to add to their 125-ish back catalog. I counted 12 Tuneage Reactions for the Maids. (Stopped a couple times to check out some Eric Gales and Marcus King 🎸) If I could cherry pick a couple songs just for you two? “Don’t you tell ME,” live…gotta be live. “Puzzle,” live Tokyo Garden; I’m shocked you haven’t hit this bombastic banger yet “The non-fiction days,” OMV; the 2000’s alt-rock Hoobastank vibe is heavy here. Each of these are in my personal top 10 of Band Maid Bring on the Tuneage in 2024! 🤘🏽
Great comments Mike ! I expect the 2024 collaborations will truly reflect the industry connections they have made in the last two years. WHAT you hear, and WHO is playing it will blow your mind ! 🤯 I can't wait, Po !
Great song ... did you guys catch Miku's call out to the "Masters and Princesses" towards the end of the song? Keep the Band-Maid reactions coming, there are so many awesome songs you have not yet heard. Happy New Year and thank you!
What a groove. You know, they became a legend when I saw the picture at 4:06 and 5:21. It just made me feel like they existed in the early 70s. You picked a perfect one for the thumbnail. Great reaction.
They produce themselves, which is basically kanami, nobody but them and their loyal long term engineer gets in the studio. Works well. They play and compose all the extra backing tracks etc. Tony Visconti produced some vocals for them, and his pal wrote lyrics (dragon's cry) that track has the lowest views of any on YT so they're in no hurry to try that. More likely is that other artists will come into the rehearsal space and create with them. If they're smart they'll leave kanami doing the composing and production. I favour an English speaking vocalist with a lower range and capable of working with miku on lyrics, she has fantastic ideas and understands English well and just needs the right person to work with. It could easily be someone with a more mainstream background who is also rock literate. I can think of several. Of course miku would settle for Bruno Mars, she travelled to Vegas just to see him and met him backstage she's a huge fan, he's super professional like her. Not very likely at all but be prepared for the unexpected. The band are extremely well connected now.
FYI. Band-Maid worked with musician and record producer Tony Visconti (David Bowie, Paul McCartney, Moody Blues...) on the song "The Dragon Cries" in 2019. The song appears to get mixed reactions from Band-Maid fans (because of the MV and dark message but it still has a groove and great muscianship).
Happy New Year, guys! Great to see that Band-Maid was your "Best Band of '23" winner! And that you're kicking off '24 with even more of THE best band in existence. The live version of this (a double bill together with 'Black Hole') from one of their online streamed gigs is even more amazing than this great MV. Looking forward to a new year of great reactions from you both.
@@nm725 Great content always gets my attention. Especially musicians who know what they're on about when they analyse Band-Maid. Luckily you guys have both1 Po!

Favorite Band Maid song It's amazing after listen to a song like this to think if it wasn't for their song Thrill, Band Maid would have broken up because they weren't catching on with listeners
When you realise that they write these songs entirely themselves, it blows your mind even further...... It's like they are the reincarnation of Rock Gods! Btw, the official live video of Manners+Black hole is waaaaaay better.
Sooo many more bangers to come. My suggestion would be "Warning" MV. Strap yourselves in guys ... still heaps to go. New Subby from Aust. P.S. Don't be afraid to react to songs that don't have original MV's. There are plenty of incredible songs that that get overlooked because of no MV'S. "Matchless Gum" - "Awkward" - "Unfair Game" just to name a few (although live versions of the first 2 are available on other sites). These guys will keep you reacting for many more months an you won't find a bad one.
*"Manners"* is one of my favorite songs from a band where all the songs are favorites. It has a great gritty bluesy groove and the lyrics are anthemic. I like the idea of working with other rock producers although I think I am in the distinct minority. Kanami Tōno is willing to learn from others. If she worked at the elbow of Rick Rubin or some other well-known producer, she would certainly pick up on how they decide what they want and how they get it. Fans might complain if that particular song didn't "sound like Band-Maid" but when she uses what she learned in some future song, it _would_ sound like Band-Maid! Just my opinion, and I don't really have the right to say much since they are already at such a high level.
I'm really thinking you guys would like their song called "Warning" or maybe reach back a bit further with a song like "Play" Official Live. Great job with the Band Maid...
Manners is simply one of those perfect rock songs imho. Sorry, but I hope the Maids don’t change how they produce their albums; which they basically do themselves with just “assistance” in the recording process. This way they have total freedom and it shows in their remarkable works. I would make changes in their mastering processes; there’s too much compression added. But they definitely don’t need anyone, particularly a metal producer telling them what to play or messing with their sound or compositions, arrangements, orchestrations, songwriting or playing. Imho, they are the best in the world at those things. If it ain’t broken, don’t fix it. My 2 cents. 🤷🏻♂️ Take care and rock on 🤘🏼🔥🌏🇯🇵🎸🎤🥁🎹🎼🎻🎺🎯😎✌🏼
@@Parker-- On the studio releases? I think they go for a more balanced approach so that all 5 musicians have a solid space in the mix. If they turn up Kanami & Miku’s guitars the higher frequencies of the bass and drums will get lost. I agree there are times live I wish Kanami was louder but I’ll take that occasional happening to ensure we keep Misa’s bass and Akane’s drums prominent in the mix. As an old Rush and Yes fan, this type of mix was common with those bands because the other instruments are so special you can’t drown them out. Contrast with The Who where the amazing John Entwistle’s bass is often too deep and too muddy in the mix and his amazing playing and composition doesn’t get the prominence it deserved. 🤷🏻♂️
@@bobespirit2112 Well as it is now, the Kanami & Miku’s guitars get lost in the studio mix. I've seen them live twice and can confirm their guitars are turned up compared to the studio tracks and Misa and Akane are never getting lost. They're still louder and quite easy to follow. The only difference is you could hear the details in the guitar work. There's still plenty of room so all 5 can shine.
