  • I was learning how to pray Salah for a few months before becoming a Muslim alhamdulillah. I knew nothing when I started, I had never spoken or read Arabic before and because of Covid I couldn't go to a mosque or meet anyone to help me so I learnt to pray on my own.
In this video I go through the apps and websites that helped me learn the movements, words and when to pray which I hope will help other reverts who are also wondering how to pray as a Muslim? It is really hard and I am not perfect now but I am proud of how much I know now! I also tell you what I did wrong in my prayer practise and why I don't mind that I did it wrong!
Sites I mention in the video:

Just wanna say that we born Muslims also struggle with prayer, tajweed, hijab, etc - so don’t feel pressured if you are a revert. Our relationship with God is personal (and ongoing) and He is Most Merciful and Bountiful, so it’s not a competition with others, but with ourselves. All we have are our intentions and our efforts. The results are up to Allah swt.
Here’s to challenging ourselves to be our personal best so we can all be with each other in heaven, iA. 🤲
Let’s cheer each other on and keep it up, everyone! May we all be blessed with a successful Ramadan. Ameen. ✨

@@TheWanderingQuinnFirstly congratulations on making perhaps the best decision in life. There is only one unforgivable sin, and that is associating partners with Allah, And Alhamd u llilah you are now past that. Just remember that all your deeds are judged based on your niyyah ( intention based in your heart). Rest assured that if your intention is pure, the creator is happy with you and you should have no fear.
There are basically two rights (Haqooq).
      1. Haqooq Allah ( rights of allah). Like shahadah, prayer, fasting, hajj etc. Allah says that i may or may not forgive these on the day of judgement.
      2. Haqooq ul ibad ( rights of all living creatures). Allah says I will not forgive these on the day of judgement, only the affected may forgive, and on that day no one will forgive.
The first cause to go to hell fire will be shirk and second will be haqooq al ibad.

I'm finding it hard to pray in Arabic. I'm a new Australian Muslim. And like you Ellie none of my family are Muslim. My education was in Catholic girls schools. I was a new Muslim just before covid but had been studying like you for about 8 months beforehand. I live in a small country town but we have quite a few Muslims here.Only 1 who is,like myself born here. We get together for BBQs and celebrations which I love, but it's distressing for me that I can't speak Arabic like all the women and so I feel a bit left out I suppose. They are very lucky to of been brought up Muslim.and speaking Arabic.Im interested in following your journey and wish you peace and happiness. Salam my sister.

Alhamdulillah on your new journey. But remember Allah is your guide and he will make the journey easy for you. Allah will never burden you with more than you can handle.
If it was meant for you to speak Arabic then you will learn it, for it is what Allah has ordained. But that may happen next month, a year from now, maybe another 3years, who knows but Allah.
But don't be disheartened for not speaking it because 90% of the worlds Muslims don't. And even those that do their Arabic is different from nation to nation, and from the Qur'an because the Quranic Arabic is the ultimate perfect Arabic which even the Arabs in Arabia do not speak normally.
      Jazakhallah.

      relied on imitating dogma

Prayers take years to reach a level one is almost satisfied with. Even kids, that are very receptive to learning take months/year to learn. so take your time. Intention is what matters, and prayers are a meeting with your Creator, checking in with the Ultimate 5 times a day keeps many things in perspective and helps in cleaning ones deed and thoughts, maybe gradually but certainly.
Keep at it at a pace you are comfortable with. gauge your progress so that stagnancy is avoided.
Stay Blessed, you are doing a wonderful job and these videos would prove helpful for other reverts in future inshAllah, and become a source of eternal rewards for you with Allah, here and hereafter.

My son is a Muslim and he lives in Texas. He is also my teacher. I would be asking him questions upon questions. He taught me how to perform Wudu before each prayer. I took the shadada. I used the video also to pray. He bought me the Qur'an that I read everyday. I also use my phone to listen to the scriptures. To me it's exciting. I look forward in praying my 5 prayers everyday. I love when the azhan call to prayer time. Alhamdulillah.

I didn't realize how hard it will be for you given that you were not taught these things as we were as kids. For non-muslims everything is new and they have to put in a lot of effort. But to make you feel a bit better, also muslims who don't do prayers as kids and start later in life, they still have to struggle a bit. Learning the Surah's by heart, and being careful not to forget the steps! So many times, I find myself also forgetting the steps and have to start all over again if I make a mistake! Basically once you have realized that you have made a mistake in you salat then you have to do it again properly. And using paper to write the surah and read them from the paper is perfectly fine!

    • @safiya8930
      @safiya8930 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

No, if you make a mistake in praying, then you have to carry on the prayer and then do two prostrations at the end. That’s what the prophet Muhammad did, peace be upon him.

Mashallah Ellie. May you continue to have a Blessed journey in Islam. I was born Muslim however only learnt to really pray almost a year ago... I watched the same TH-cam videos. I found that having friends who are encouraging is so helpful. I made a friend 3 years ago who prays all 5 times a day and who's knowledge of Islam is so great that I felt ashamed at times. I tried my best to atleast pray Magrib.. Some days I didn't but I tried. I recently like a week ago started trying my hardest to pray 5times a day... I started with fajr and then I did Dhur and Asr and magrib... Sometimes I would fall asleep before Ishai but I was proud of myself for doing more than I have usually done and to be honest.... If I miss fajr now I actually feel different, like guilty in a way. But InshaAllah I am still trying my best and I hope I am praying right

I do think that cultures mix religion and culture into one, which makes it confusing to understand. i looked into it, did my research , taught myself to pray and reverted to Islam at 30 years old. That's the best thing i ever did. I can totally relate to you when learning to pray. For me learning to pray was the most difficult part.

Asalaamu alaykum sister, i am not a native Arab speaker. When I was young, my aunt bought a book with English pronunciation of Surah al Fatihah and the other Arabic sayings performed during salah, etc. That helped greatly many years ago. Secondly, understanding the meaning behind everything you say, makes your prayer so much more meaningful. Allah reward you for your genuineness and sincere intentions. Ameen

With Allah blessings I have been born A Muslim .. but wasn't a devoted Muslim untill I was in my early twenties.. I'm trying to learn more about how new Muslims approach Islam and what's the Ups and Downs ..etc .
I wish you all of success and happiness and just don't overwhelm yourself .. it's a journey and I hope your videos help teach others about Islam and Muslims!

Hi Ellie. I am a Filipina recently married to a Muslim. Because of our language barrier since he cannot speak much English but only Arabic and me starting to learn Arabic language, It is so hard for me to understand my husband when he teach me how to perform Wudu and Salah.
I appreciate so much when you post this video, you leave a link in your description box. I check that link and I was so amaze.
This is exactly what I am searching for. The correct way of performing Wudu and Salah. There I see a simplified version, easy way to perform Wudu and Salah, all are in good details plus there is a video on what is the correct way of performing Salah.
Thank you so much. I really appreciate it. I subscribed to your Channel too just now as my way of thanking you. ❤😍💋
