Hello jenny, I love the way that you present your videos I am learning a lot about the new way of modelling I have had a lapse of almost 50 years and have only just started with my interest of trains in 77 years old and have just retired so now to start a wonderful hobby again , I have bought a Dapol and accurascale manor locos and Bachmann city of Truro loco and using Peco bullhead rails . every thing is new as I sold all my railway gear many years ago so now have to start learning again and it is all dcc controlled, so I am learning so much from you keep your wonderful videos coming and best wishes Roy Newberry

Isn't it nice when manufacturers do things properly. In a general market where most things are cheap rubbish, it warms the heart.

you were right about the hand rail you had concerns about. one of mine came off. but it was easily fixed with a tiny bit of super glue.

"Masterpiece" is the right word. It's superb. Perplexed by Dapol's note in the loco manual that it doesn't need running in; mine has now been run for many hours and it's much quieter and smoother than straight out of the box. Personally, I was delighted to get etched number plates in the box, they are a very distinctive part of any GW loco and the 3D relief isn't replicated by the printed versions, although they are very neat.

Perhaps the lack of cab seating makes it easier to fit a crew. Enjoyed the review with the nuggets of history dropped in, which makes it much more interesting.

So having said I was probably going to pass on one I’m now tempted! I see the sound fitted ones are all pre-order. Is there an issue with availability on sound fitted or is it just a case of them not yet being released?

The sound fitted ones are all fitted after arrival in the UK, so always lag behind whilst they are being done.

Great review. Almost tempted to get one of these even though I am a diesel man with a penchant for the 1980’s. I suppose it could be a preserved loco running some Mk1 stock in chocolate & cream…..

Very nice just shows what can be done for not an astronomical cost for the buyer, the coupling system between the tender and loco is superior to anything the other manufacturers are releasing. As Dapol are on the GWR track they could do with producing the 2900 Saint class, it’s an obvious missing link in the GWR designs. Second to this would be the 3031 Dean Achilles single wheeler.

Good review . Well done Dapol . It’s a shame it’s got Accurascale as competition but I’d be very tempted .

Enjoyed your review Jenny, but you should really include the mechanism, for serviceability, quality etc, which goes without saying very important when assessing the quality of a model. By the way I am no fan of carpet man!
