Some ask "what makes your day" and I say "ANOTHER VIDEO BY DENISE LOVE" that's what makes my day! I am inspired to get my plate out and create now. Thank you as always 🎨🤩
I took your new Gelli plate class this weekend and was inspired. Your hands were the messiest I've ever seen, and I could tell you were on a creative roll. You had some amazing stuff come off that plate in the class. I, too, love making abstract art with the Gelli plate; I don't like the cutesy stuff. Any pulls that are just kind of meh will turn into collage paper. Your piece of art today was just beautiful and I love it. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and just love your stream of consciousness chatter while your creating. Your excitement is infectious and motivating. (Would totally buy a thousand stickers that said "Look at THAT!").
Haha! I totally need that sticker too!! I love that. So glad you enjoyed the Gelli Plate class!! I did have a lot of fun making those projects. Thank you! 🥰🤗🎨
I love the grungier matte colors of the background in this one. Orange isn’t a color I gravitate towards, but it works well here for contrast. Thank you.
Just renewed my Skillshare subscription. Totally worth every penny. If any of yall are thinking about it, go for it. Love this video. I'm going shopping today. Gurl you spend all my money.Lol😂. Have agreat week. Love your channel.😊
Nice! Denise - now I want to take three of your classes. I will sign up on skillshare. Thank you for the nudge. BTW- did some Klimt inspired gelli prints - will post on FB❤️🙏🏻⭐️🌈
Beautiful piece...my favorite was actually the small sheet to the side...not the "roll off" paper, but the other...Gelli plate printing is where I'm thinking about this creative cycle too.
I have a gelli plate…it’s bigger. I thought it was a great idea at the time, but gave up on it. I’m now newly inspired to give it another shot. Thank you for sharing. It turned out great!
This is so cool. It looks like the cover to a mystery book. Something on the order of a detective in the city. Footprints buildings. but thats me lol. Love it.
Great print, Denise! I love, love, love my gelli plate and went crazy with it a couple of days ago. I use way too much paint but I love the mess (and I’m not a messy crafter, generally). Once you start, it’s hard to stop. I wish they had a register for the smaller plate, too, as that’s what I use. Interesting info about the mineral oil. I just use soap and water but I always put it back between the acrylic sheets. When I read the care instructions when I bought it years ago, 2 things stuck in my mind; 1) don’t use the plate on a porous surface (because of the oil) and 2) smooth any “bubbles” that appear (when storing) as it could cause permanent indentations. I’m sure not everyone does this so it probably isn’t as bad as I think it is. I’ve watched several makers and some of them never clean it. I’m just one of those people “who plays well with others” and not “runs with scissors.” Maybe I need to reread the instructions.
Good tips. I’ve read those too. I like cleaning with mineral oil and putting the paper on in between. I’ve had great luck keeping mine clean that way. 😊
I laughed when you said someone said your mark was like hangman…I thought the same last video I watched of yours. 😂 Yes, I loved watching this technique! I ordered the Mungyo pastels and fixative earlier! Woot!!!! Thanks for sharing all of these art supplies I would not have any idea about using them!
Very fun. Thank you Denise. I enjoy all of your videos. FYI, Joggles has 3 punchinella stencils you may be interested in. I actually purchased duplicates of the “trios” design so I could cut apart the different patterns and use them more easily and still have one of the duplicate stencils in its original form. Gotta love Joggles. Barb is great. She visits Elizabeth St.Hilaire sometimes to play and collaborate on videos, and works with her on product offerings. I ‘ve been following both of their TH-cam channels for a while now and purchase most of my mixed media products from Joggles.
I do a lot of gelli printing for both collage paper and monoprints. I have the registration tool and I was admittedly underwhelmed by it. I needed up making some modifications to make it work for me. I cut a piece of foam core the same size as the opening then I set my gelli plate on that. It raised the gelli plate higher than the registration tool. That made it easier to keep crisp edeges for monoprinting, you can do multiple registrations at one time by taping on the side. It speeds up when doing a lot of printing. Just another tip, the manufacturer recommends you discard the plastic sheets and store it with clean paper on both sides. Happy printing.
Great tips! I was thinking of making a paper bib or out of yupo that I could put down when adding paint and pick up for clean edges - but slightly raised would be nice too! I'll definitely experiment! Thank you! 🥰
@@2lilowlsstudio a bib would likely work as well. I find that when I’m using my 8x10 gelli plate that I don’t use the registration tool very often. I’ve just taped out on one of my cutting mats where I should have the edges of the paper when I print. I can work faster that way.
Hi Denise. Her last name is pronounced Hill - Air. I always look forward to your videos. I saw a different registration tool a few weeks ago that I would love to find again. It requires no taping...you slide it under the plate and there is a corner lip on the side.
I can’t remember who the artist as but she printed by taping a piece on either side so she could alternate the prints and choose what design went on which piece.
Hello Denise!! Where I can found the rool of irregular cut of paper's borders. I don't see the link in descripcion. Thank you so much! Love ✨ P.D.: sorry for my limited english 🫢
You should try using your 5x7 Gelli plate as your pallet for rolling the paint on. Then you could tape two pieces of paper to your template thing. One on each side. You could grab the first print with the paper on one side and the ghost on the other side. Maybe that sounds like a weird idea but I may have to buy one to try it out. :)
I watched a demo for the plate that they have out and they wipe the edge too. I think I’m going to make a paper bib to put down and pick up to keep the edge clean. It really did make the print easier to line up for me!

I like deckled edges, but I really liked the piece before deckling as I liked the paint that ended up outside the piece. TFS!

tape the edges of your paper for crisp edges when done...just like watercolor
Thats a good idea! Thank you! 🥰
Seems like one would have to wipe the edges every time to get a clean print. Not for me I'm afraid. There are easier and less costly options.

What is placed tape along the edge of the registration tool? Might be worth trying or tape the edges of your print paper
@@jenyoung6919I was thinking of tape on my paper too! Might be easiest way to keep edges crisp! 😊
Maybe a cardboard bib for the registration plate
I was thinking that too... or a paper bib... because I'm messy when I paint! 😊
