I love the way you make an effort to say bonjour and merci and always have a smile 😊, it makes all the difference when you're travelling. If you can learn 2 phrases in every country you visit you'll always be welcomed 😊
Massive respect to you both!! I've travelled the world on a motorcycle and I've realised that simlpy being nice and having great manners gets you through anything! You've both got that. Crack on!
Did a trip across to Zeebrugge when the wind was force 8, gusting force 9. A few trailers broke tis down chains, but getting a seat in the restaurant was easy. The sight of sausage egg and chips made a lot of green people bolt for the loos :)
Have just caught up with all your videos and travels. I must say you are such a lovely young couple and so respectful. Lovely to see your enjoying life xx
We travelled between Ireland and England during a terrible storm. The doors were jammed on docking and after an hour of trying to release them they decided to turn the ferry round and get the lorries and cars off backwards. That was worse than the crossing. The staff were just doing what they thought and it was complete mayhem. Turning great lorries around in such a confined space everyone shouting and it was It was obvious that drivers were not understanding a word. It showed quite clearly that this scenario had not been thought about and a plan put in place. Needless to say we have never been in a ferry since.
We are rather strange we laugh in scenarios like this ahahah 🤣 sometimes you just gotta sit back and smile ahaha however boats and storms don't really go together
My fatther passed away last year. My brothers and I and mum would go Brittany Ferries from Portsmouth - St. Malo with another family for camping holidays all over france. Did it from the age of 10 and just the best holidays and the exctiement of father driving on the ferry, it all started there. I miss my mum and dad so so so much but this video kind of brought back so many of those memories. Wonderful and thank you, made my world a little happier today.
@@Steps2adventurethe front of the ship gets the worst, the wave dissipates as it goes further along the ship, (I’ve had experience where I’ve had a cabin in the front of the ship)
I've been on a couple of ferries that have been the last to leave port and then had to wait outside either Dover and Dunkirk because they were closed. Current record is 7 hours outside of Dover listening to people whimper, cry and vomit whilst watching the white cliffs and port lights go up, up, up then down, down, down. Oh the joys!
Enjoyed following you both...very happy go lucky people which is so good to see, thankyou for visiting our adopted country (Spain) and appreciate its charm..I'll look forward to seeing more of your videos now you are in cold and wet England...Hasta proxima mi Amigos..🤗
Loving your hair today❤😂That pig is to funny😂 Lovely video little doggie driver too cute 😊 Nice ship room looks lovely, but that sea is wild. What a delightful couple you both are a pleasure to watch.Great video.❤
Great video, guys! Reminds me of a trip that we did a few years back... with our late beloved dog :( lots of memories. Your fur baby is really adorable. Stay safe guys :)
Guys loved the videos. One of the most honest journeys I’ve watched on you tube. Hopefully get a van soon and mite see you about. Keep the videos coming
Hello You Three - greetings from Poland. That was some storm! A superb video. Very interestings journey home. What a well behaved dog Lily is. That was fabulous trip. I thouroughly enjoyed being with you. Really looking forward to the next one
istr auchan on the outskirts of Cherbourg is the big hypermarket in the area with fuel as well - i was told years ago if customs want a look in the car / van open the door and watch them.
From France to England. Took 7 hours to get back to UK. What a ride. Forgot to say, I feel asleep holding onto a pole. After several hours of sleep, I awoke to everyone on floor with puke bags beside them. Hubbie was also attached to pole. We went to find food.
Windy much!!! I'm amazing they. Let you out on deck! We do love a rough sea though (to look at!!). We enjoyed this video and will definitely check out more . Cheers 🍻
22 minutes away if you go the lorry route, which brings you wayyy out of town and then back in again. A van can just skip through town and down along the quays to the roundabout at the harbour gate.
I remember when was a kid about 14 we went on a family holiday to France on the Ferry from Plymouth to Roscoff, my older brother who was about 18 at the time was there and I remember him telling me this is what walking around when your drunk feels like.😂
We had the same a couple of years back, we always go direct to the reception whrn boarding to upgrade the room and she making small piles of anti seasick pills. The woman said it was going to be a very rough crossing. Advising us not to eat and drink too much. It was awesome, metal screeching and banging every wave. We were in the lounge area (commodore suits i believe?) and the waves smashed the windows and we were right under the bridge. Loads of people sick, scared or both, but we thought it was awesome seeing nature giving a small example what she can do.
UK border was the longest part for us aswell. Made us open the boot and checked our tyres? Lol. However one french car was stripped fully and they stopped the whole process because of a "suspicious item" took atleast 30 minutes to get past then the had the sniffer dogs at the ferry side too, which you might have seen. French side literally is in and out without hassle. We went to Nantes on bastille day last year, best experience I've had, lovely weather and city.
I thought we were going to sink during one stormy December ferry crossing from Dieppe to Newhaven. The trip took 9 hours instead of the usual 3-4 hours. It was so rough, all of the glassware in the bar was destroyed, the chairs and tables were broken up and some of the truck on the lower deck had broken their wheel mooring chains and were leaning against the side bulkheads, That was a storm I will never forget!
Don't go to the west coast of Ireland if you don't like wind and rain. I was at Inch near Dingle and I heard what sounded like a train coming . There's no trains anywhere near Inch tho. Suddenly wind and rain arrived and this gust started picking the back of my van up off the floor. By the time it was over my kayak was hanging on the side of my van by the security lock I use. Both straps were shredded and of no use. They were quality straps and only 2 weeks old. God knows where my kayak would have ended up if I didn't have the security lock on it. The rear end of my van was picked up and dropped several times.
I have to admit it does look choppy but it doesn't look that bad. I came home from Germany back in the storms of 87 / 88 and it took 5 1/2 hours from Calais to Dover
just in case you suffer from sea sickness you can eat cristalized ginger and ginger biscuits it helps i always have my dog with me he is a big bot a belguim shepard but he dont have a muzzel im a trucker so in and out of uk regular we use comordor cabins only do uk -spain but from plymouth
My family and I did the channel crossing in rough seas, the toilets were awash with water swilling everywhere, it was easier to be outside in the fresh air as opposed to inboard as the warm air made my wife and son poorly and with the loos being the way they were that was not easy.
The experience you had with the storm on the ferry, I’ve had before (BUT 11 HOURS!) I was in a cabin at the front of the ship, the waves were proper crashing into the bow as we were sailing through the English Channel (which doesn’t really have a reputation of being smooth)
@@Steps2adventure yeah, after a few hours (I was in my cabin during that) I went outside on the deck (the outside deck areas were at the middle of the ship on both sides) just to not feel the waves as much
I never have got seasick on any rough crossing, just lucky I guess. The motion never bothers me, done Felixstowe to Zeebrugge , Harwich to the Hook and Harwich to Hamburg. But if it ever bothers you, take Dramamine before and you will be OK. Buy before you leave UK online from Amazon, Ebay etc.
I took the ferry from Dover to Ostend and everybody was throwing up due to a storm. It was AWFUL!!! For the return we took a plane from Orly in Paris back to the UK. The plane didn’t cost much more than the ferry!
I havent been there for a couple of years, but we used to use a cafe in Carfour for breakfast. With the exeption of the bacon it was ok(French dont seem to have good bacon). In 1987, I was on a bus tour of Britain and Ireland. We took the ferry from Dover (I think) heading towards Dublin. A killed herself by jumping off the ferry into the sea. The ferry was required to search as long as there was light. It searched for @ 7 hours, until dark. The ferry was running out of food, water etc. Everyone knew the situation, several passengers had tried to stop her. She was travelling with her husband and young kids,, she had been in hospital in London and her family was bringing her home. Our tour group lost its day and evening activities in Dublin, which was disappointing. Through all these years all these years, I’ve never forgotten this tragic woman.
Never been on Brittany ferries, but did think about it many years ago going to Santander to cut out driving through France. Just how do manage when Lily wants a pee or poo?

Ever heard to the Channel Tunnel?
We used the channel tunnel going out prefer the ferry 👌
Unfortunately some people just can't see how beautiful life can be if you put the effort in
You guys from Wakefield area by any chance? Or somewhere up North?
St Helens 😂😂
Never been on Brittany ferries, but did think about it many years ago going to Santander to cut out driving through France. Just how do manage when Lily wants a pee or poo?
There’s an outside deck that they can to out on for the toilet
