Floor is head and shoulders the top selling artist among them, but they are all veteran professional singers with strong track records in the industry. Each week 5 of them perform songs themed around the sixth member of the crew. Most of the time they either choose a song in their own genre relevant to the theme vocalist or pull one of the choses singer's songs into their own genre. The exception to this pattern is Henk Port's rendition of Sound of Silence during Floor's week, and every single one of Floor's performances. The concept of this show Beste Zangers (Best Singer) is they take a cross section of singers who are popular in The Netherlands. Those singers are there for the entire season. Each episode of the season focuses on one of the singers. All the other singers perform a song that is very special to person who is the focus of the episode. The host guides the conversation to set up one of the singers to perform a song for the person of focus. That is why the setting is so intimate.
And all of them watching Floor are also singers. Bezte Zangers is a Dutch TV-show where the artist sings for the other artists. Their own songs but as we see here a song that was special for the other artist. Floor kills it on every performance on that show. And you will probably love all of them. In case no one has mentioned it yet, the older gentleman getting misty eyed during Floor's performance is Henk Poort, a Dutch opera and theatre star who played the Phantom in the original Dutch production of Phantom of the Opera. He was one of Floor's teenage idols, so getting to perform for and with him was a huge deal for her. He became so enamored with her singing that he learned how to use vocal distortion in order to sing Disturbed's version of The Sound of Silence for her, and later sang The Phantom of the Opera with her in the season finale. This has led to multiple duets between the two, culminating in his appearance onstage with Nightwish late last year in Amsterdam for the band's first performance of Phantom in 17 years.
I like the part near the end, where the camera is zooming in on Henk, and someone off camera makes a small whoop sound. (I think it's Rolf.) Henk glances back at them, and, for a second, looks a little annoyed. "Yes. it's wonderful, but I want to hear this!" Heh...Then he turns back and you can see him getting a little emotional...

Excellent point about the setting and Floor taking it down a notch......,,Floor is such a good story teller, she injects these little "emotional bullets" sighs, etc and draws out syllables at just the right time. How I became a fan of Floor Jansen? I was in the music store in 2005 or 2006, which I liked to shop at the time. At the CD stand there were headphones, where you could listen to the CD's for a few seconds. I saw an attractive CD cover from the band "After Forever" that said "Remagine". From that point on, I was a big fan. When "After Forever" released a new CD in 2007, I was able to persuade an employee from the music store to give me the big advertising poster that was hanging on the wall. The band "After Forever" played on the Earthshaker Roadshock Tour in Berlin in 2007. Floor Jansen mingled with the audience after their performance to enjoy the atmosphere of the other bands playing there. I took this chance and embraced her for this beautiful performance. I also think it's the best time for music bands that are about to break out. You can celebrate with the fans without any problems between a well-known artist or fan. When the band stopped After Forever, Floor Jansen formed the band Revamp. And later came the request from Nightwish, which meant the death of the band "Revamp". I still wear the After Forever and Revamp t-shirts, although they've taken on the washed-out vintage style.
In a different episode of this show she was asked if she preferred to sing to a smaller group or stadium and she said less nervous in front of a stadium
Everytime I watch that one. She makes me cry. One day someone in going to say " that's it. Floor is not aloud to do anymore cover's ". Because everyone she does. It end up being way better than the original. LOL

Just for context, the show has a group of singers and each week one is sat in the central couch and the rest sing for him/her. This week was Emma's turn in the couch. I don't know her career, but from the show I gather she is a TH-camr who makes covers, that's the reason Floor sang a cover of a popular song. In the first episode for instance, Henk Poort, who is an opera singer sat on the couch and Floor opened the show by singing an opera in German (Vilja Lied) with a background music of rock guitar and battery. Emma being a TH-camr I didn't expect much of her, but she surprised me, she is very good (not as versatile as Floor who masters multiple lanes, but good in her lane). She sang "Vivo per Lei" with Henk and did great. I recommend you watching that duet too. That could be one of their own songs, a song that they listened to as a kid, a song that has a special meaning to them, etc. In this case besides Floor there are - A TH-cam cover artist (Emma Heesters, the young blonde girl, she's in the spotlight this episode) who has made numerous original songs since - A latin singer (Rolf Sanchez, bearded guy in the dark shirt) - A singer-songwriter (Ruben Annink, the young guy) - A Dutch pop singer (Samantha Steenwijk, the other blonde) - An opera and musical singer (Henk Poort, the old guy and famous for being 'the Phantom of the opera') - A rock singer (Tim Akkerman, in the striped shirt) The host is also a famous Dutch singer. They always try to get all kind of styles into the show to get people out of their comfort zone, and that makes it a really cool show to watch. In Floor's case, I believe she sang a German song (an operetta song) in the first episode, Dutch in the second episode (for Samantha), Spanish in the third (for Rolf) and English in the remaining ones. She wanted to do this one with a subdued flavor because it was solo. She does another, much more vigorous, version of it on this same season of the TV show only a couple of episodes later. That one is done as a duet with Tim Akkerman, the young guy on the couch with the striped shirt and curly beard. She's in her black leather Valkyrie outfit that week. When the humming lead-in to the last chorus is building, she stands up from the stool, towering over Tim, and we Nightwish fans were all silently going, "Oh no, oh no! She's a gonna go full metal jacket on him and hurt the poor guy!!! Somebody call 911!" She did do her NW fans proud, but luckily for Tim, she restrained the supernatural forces of the Valkyrie goddess in check just enough to keep from causing injury! 🤣

Hello again, this is a very different Floor Jansen than most people know. Recently Floor did a lot more solo projects and she keeps doing that for sure! It's defintely worth following her on this path! However, something I wanted to point out to you is that Floor is not just a great singer, which is pretty obvious, I think a good amount of the "Magic" in her singing is her acting. Sometimes it's just very very tiny nuances in her voice and sometimes it's just a simple look or a turn of her head that emphasizes her expression or the emotions she want's you to feel. This way Floor literally touches you heart and soul and she's a master in doing that, I've seen only a few singers doing this constantly in such a subtile but effecive way...

dont forget, lady gaga is just more famous. that doesnt mean shes the better singer. but beside that, shes just a singer songwriter like everyone else, I saw her with just a keyboard in a tiny venue. and her powerful voice cant do all those versatile vocal styles , like floor can. she worked as a vocal coach for a reason.

Floor was singing this for Emma Heesters Emma is or was a you tube singer so Floor did a cover of a cover. You should see when Emma did a cover of a song from Floor Strong it's imo also beautiful.

This show is actually nuts for showing just how unique Floor is. 6 top Dutch singers. Floor is head and shoulders the top selling artist among them, but they are all veteran professional singers with strong track records in the industry. Each week 5 of them perform songs themed around the sixth member of the crew. Most of the time they either choose a song in their own genre relevant to the theme vocalist or pull one of the choses singer's songs into their own genre. The exception to this pattern is Henk Port's rendition of Sound of Silence during Floor's week, and every single one of Floor's performances. She goes full send into each other singer's genre and SLAYS! She is singing SAMBA one week!

She is not limited in her creativity by her vocal abilities in any way, its all availible her at will. So beautiful and amazing to witness.
The concept of this show Beste Zangers (Best Singer) is they take a cross section of singers who are popular in The Netherlands. Those singers are there for the entire season. Each episode of the season focuses on one of the singers. All the other singers perform a song that is very special to person who is the focus of the episode. The host guides the conversation to set up one of the singers to perform a song for the person of focus. That is why the setting is so intimate.
Little correction: "Beste Zangers" doesn'T translate to "best singers", but "dear singers" 🙃
And all of them watching Floor are also singers. Bezte Zangers is a Dutch TV-show where the artist sings for the other artists. Their own songs but as we see here a song that was special for the other artist. Floor kills it on every performance on that show. And you will probably love all of them. Here you can see Henk Poort watching and later in that show he sings the Phantom of the Opera together with Floor.

In case no one has mentioned it yet, the older gentleman getting misty eyed during Floor's performance is Henk Poort, a Dutch opera and theatre star who played the Phantom in the original Dutch production of Phantom of the Opera. He was one of Floor's teenage idols, so getting to perform for and with him was a huge deal for her. He became so enamored with her singing that he learned how to use vocal distortion in order to sing Disturbed's version of The Sound of Silence for her, and later sang The Phantom of the Opera with her in the season finale. This has led to multiple duets between the two, culminating in his appearance onstage with Nightwish late last year in Amsterdam for the band's first performance of Phantom in 17 years.
I like the part near the end, where the camera is zooming in on Henk, and someone off camera makes a small whoop sound. (I think it's Rolf.) Henk glances back at them, and, for a second, looks a little annoyed. "Yes. it's wonderful, but I want to hear this!" Heh...Then he turns back and you can see him getting a little emotional...
That "A Star Is Born" with Judy Garland you were speaking about is not the original but the second one made in 1954, the first one was made 1937 and there is even third one with Barbra Streisand and Kris Kristofferson 1976. So the one with Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper 2018 is the fourth version.

Floor performed several songs on this show and was at last appreciated in her own country, The Netherlands, as not a metal country. Every song was perfect and each sung to one of the other six singers. She has several other covers on her TH-cam channel.

Excellent point about the setting and Floor taking it down a notch......,,Floor is such a good story teller, she injects these little "emotional bullets" sighs, etc and draws out syllables at just the right time. As I'm sure others have stated, she had 6 years of formal training and you can certainly tell; she is a very smart singer......I spit my coffee out when I heard "pretty".

How I became a fan of Floor Jansen? I was in the music store in 2005 or 2006, which I liked to shop at the time. At the CD stand there were headphones, where you could listen to the CD's for a few seconds. I saw an attractive CD cover from the band "After Forever" that said "Remagine". From that point on, I was a big fan. When "After Forever" released a new CD in 2007, I was able to persuade an employee from the music store to give me the big advertising poster that was hanging on the wall. The band "After Forever" played on the Earthshaker Roadshock Tour in Berlin in 2007. Floor Jansen mingled with the audience after their performance to enjoy the atmosphere of the other bands playing there. I took this chance and embraced her for this beautiful performance. I also think it's the best time for music bands that are about to break out. You can celebrate with the fans without any problems between a well-known artist or fan. When the band stopped After Forever, Floor Jansen formed the band Revamp. And later came the request from Nightwish, which meant the death of the band "Revamp". I still wear the After Forever and Revamp t-shirts, although they've taken on the washed-out vintage style.
In a different episode of this show she was asked if she preferred to sing to a smaller group or stadium and she said less nervous in front of a stadium

Just for context, the show has a group of singers and each week one is sat in the central couch and the rest sing for him/her. This week was Emma's turn in the couch. I don't know her career, but from the show I gather she is a TH-camr who makes covers, that's the reason Floor sang a cover of a popular song. In the first episode for instance, Henk Poort, who is an opera singer sat on the couch and Floor opened the show by singing an opera in German (Vilja Lied) with a background music of rock guitar and battery.
Emma being a TH-camr I didn't expect much of her, but she surprised me, she is very good (not as versatile as Floor who masters multiple lanes, but good in her lane). She sang "Vivo per Lei" with Henk and did great. I recommend you watching that duet too. Fun game during that video, try to decide from the look on their faces, who's heart is melting more for Henk's singing, Emma, Floor or Rolph. :)

That could be one of their own songs, a song that they listened to as a kid, a song that has a special meaning to them, etc. In this case besides Floor there are
- A TH-cam cover artist (Emma Heesters, the young blonde girl, she's in the spotlight this episode) who has made numerous original songs since
- A latin singer (Rolf Sanchez, bearded guy in the dark shirt)
- A singer-songwriter (Ruben Annink, the young guy)
- A Dutch pop singer (Samantha Steenwijk, the other blonde)
- An opera and musical singer (Henk Poort, the old guy and famous for being 'the Phantom of the opera')
- A rock singer (Tim Akkerman, in the striped shirt)
The host is also a famous Dutch singer. They always try to get all kind of styles into the show to get people out of their comfort zone, and that makes it a really cool show to watch. In Floor's case, I believe she sang a German song (an operetta song) in the first episode, Dutch in the second episode (for Samantha), Spanish in the third (for Rolf) and English in the remaining ones.

She wanted to do this one with a subdued flavor because it was solo. She does another, much more vigorous, version of it on this same season of the TV show only a couple of episodes later. That one is done as a duet with Tim Akkerman, the young guy on the couch with the striped shirt and curly beard. She's in her black leather Valkyrie outfit that week. When the humming lead-in to the last chorus is building, she stands up from the stool, towering over Tim, and we Nightwish fans were all silently going, "Oh no, oh no! She's a gonna go full metal jacket on him and hurt the poor guy!!! Somebody call 911!" She did do her NW fans proud, but luckily for Tim, she restrained the supernatural forces of the Valkyrie goddess in check just enough to keep from causing injury! 🤣
Yay! That's what I thought because also the venue is smaller and intimate, it's suited it more. It was phenomenal!!

Hello again, this is a very different Floor Jansen than most people know. Recently Floor did a lot more solo projects and she keeps doing that for sure! It's defintely worth following her on this path! However, something I wanted to point out to you is that Floor is not just a great singer, which is pretty obvious, I think a good amount of the "Magic" in her singing is her acting. Sometimes it's just very very tiny nuances in her voice and sometimes it's just a simple look or a turn of her head that emphasizes her expression or the emotions she want's you to feel.
This way Floor literally touches you heart and soul and she's a master in doing that, I've seen only a few singers doing this constantly in such a subtile but effecive way...

dont forget, lady gaga is just more famous. that doesnt mean shes the better singer. but beside that, shes just a singer songwriter like everyone else, I saw her with just a keyboard in a tiny venue. and her powerful voice cant do all those versatile vocal styles , like floor can. she worked as a vocal coach for a reason.
