Feels bad to lose this one because I made a misclick in the move planner. 18:20 On day 13 what happened was I had a solid wall in the move planner but I wanted to make changes to the left side of the map because i wanted to put pressure on the left com tower. So i refreshed the move planner and redid all the moves again on the right side but I accidentally swapped the full hp infantry and the 6 hp infantry. The full hp infantry was suppose to be in front of the 4 hp arty and the 6 hp infantry in the woods. This would require a very high luck roll from von bolt to kill it with a tank. I dont know if mangs would have taken it because if it failed, he loses 2 tanks for free. Overall i think the bigger mistake was just leaving that rocket there instead of moving it 1 space down. Woulda avoided the whole problem :(
I have to disagree with the com towers because if i focus to much on the sides, its to easy for mangs to go straight through the middle and airport lock me. Even though im grit, i still need air units. Also he can then shift to the 1 base side. My plan was to take the middle then shift to the sides and i was in the process of doing that. Unfortunately i made a mistake with the infantry wall.
I can tell very early on if you're going to win or not by how you talk about your performance. If you're self-critical, I know you lost. If you're critiquing your opponent, you won. This time, I wasn't sure. And I appreciate the surprise.
Spoilers ahead : Man, even when he made the "bait" for Ex Machina, I knew that the next turn would rock And lets all face it, it wasn't a good bait, the fighter and AA were in range, so really Izanagi gave a Bomber and a Figher of his own on a silver platter to Mangs, a good Missle/Meteor/Machina bait shouldn't be in danger, I mean, they are bait for godsake
This is a great match to showcase how quickly the tables can turn just from 1-2 small mistakes made by you or the opponent, especially in high funds. What a great vid!
It’s been fun playing in the Glenstorm Cup and watching Mangs play on the same maps. Seeing the parallels and differences in how our matches have played out is very satisfying.
"I decide to go to towwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwn" as the guitar riff plays was some great content. It felt like something out of a Tarantino movie. Well done Eggman!
The 1st use of ex machina was pretty good, pressuring his own super power and forcing him to bait the damage somewhere else (still messed him pretty hard, though). Pretty good
Grit main: spams artillery and snipe attack Opponent: picks decent CO, gets both comm towers, makes basic early disruption, makes balanced army Grit main: *surprised pikachu face* This video is a testament to how high on the ladder Grit cheese can get one.
Wow, based on those early tank losses, I did not expect you to win. Just goes to show how quickly the tables can turn in high funds with a good turn or two. As someone who got annihilated in this tournament, and is on the cusp of getting thrashed in my first league high funds game, this does give me a little hope for the future.
Great plays from both, for me, it highlights why I don't like using or playing against Grit: - Snowball CO, if you're winning, you'll do greater, if you're losing, it'll be hard to recover - Although, yes, you need to vary a few units, he'll still have to use wall strategies - Missile-chan still very situational. Another match, another missile-chan that does nothing... I wish Grit had -10% defence on his units instead of -10% attack. IMO that's more what we intuitively expect from a "sniper" CO and would open to some direct counter-attacks from Grit.
it makes sense that von bolt would do good against grit. grit does well when he can just ball up and slowly move forward but the super from von bolt actively counters grits best advantages.
Literally never seen such powerful and effective Ex Machinas before, nevermind three such blows in one game. I had the power written off as too overpriced to really be a factor - this is making me rethink this, at least a little.
Congrats winning this one, Mangs. This is where I failed. I went up against a superior skilled opponent and I was utterly outmatched. I look forward to the 3rd match.
I can confirm that decision by Eggman on 5:05 to skip a city to go for the Comm Tower, I won my match but I was pressured HARD by the opponent on that side of the map.
What a great game! Spoilers: I'm not gonna write another disertation about how Grit is overraed, because you just outplayed izanagi. To be honest he had ALL the means to deny your comm towers, but he didn't and you were able to recognize this problem and played accordingly. Securing the comm tower early was genius, and capturing the other side comm tower was even better. Also this is what I'm saying tho, you rush Grit just like this, except with cheaper units, tankfully you had the funds to pay for the stronger units, but in any other map Grit's artilery can only attack one target at a time, and they can't move and shoot, so rushing like this and threatening several fronts is the best way to do it. So congratulations Mangs, this was an amazing display!
@@salamence6828 Don't know if you are being sarcastic or not .... With only 3 bases on high funds he won't have much in terms of infantry walls... also what's the use if his infantry is getting 1 shot?
What a perfect map size for TH-cam streaming! We could do with more landscape maps. Alternatively, I wonder... could there be an option to rotate the map giving streamers more options?
Great match. The mistake in izanagis wall was definitely serendipitous for Mangs, but it was well exploited, and was a lot more fun than seeing the artillery blob move right for 3 turns.
just seeing how the awbw is doing from these videos does remind me of a sorta anime plot kinda from the pov of mangs, if i was to put it into words you just see all these experts with varying personalities and differences, there's these occasional arc changes where the attention of being the strongest player is passed to someone else and maybe, just maybe we'll have a live tournament at the end of the season where that strongest player is participating, and this season that attention goes to jtqwn i just had to say it cause i found it cool to think about
The stupid part is that it would take a modest amount of effort to correct the issues. The Egg Cup 2 is getting held up because there are people sitting around who aren't starting their games, forgot to report the match outcomes, aren't reporting their opponent for failing to respond to a match, or both participants haven't been on the site for months. If he would just check up on them once a week to make sure the matches are happening then everything would proceed smoothly.
Thanks for the walkthrough! Super helpful to see your setup. When a customer sends a used waxed chain back for a rewax. What is your process for rewaxing? Do you do any prep/cleaning work before submerging the chain in the hot wax? Thanks!
Little did we know at the time that when Izanagi lost to Egg that this was is final match, he retired and no one heard about him anymore, some says that he became a family man, some says that he became a goblin slayer since their head kinda look like Mangs, some says that he became a nun to the rikki convenant Deejus created, but to this days the legend says: "What does the fox say ?" On day 10 you could've saved the neo tank by taking your 2 north tanks and killing the infantry, but maybe losing 3 units to save a neo is less valuable on count. Well actually you sacked them into his main wall anyway so maybe popping the infantry and an arty just out of range would've been the better play
Von Bolt is pretty weak in HF but Grit is by far his best match up, especially on this map. I think this is the best map in favor of VB with this match up, made for his win.
grit letting you get 2 towers basically turned von bolt into grim with 110% defense, 130% atk ouch. And not having good walls got you the win. Now i see why you shouldnt let your opponent get both towers.
There was a way to save that neotank by committing your two tanks to taking his infantry on the forest. That being said they would have ended up being sacrificed instead and wouldn't have been able to hit his artillery.
Oh, this map. This map was annoying. It ended quickly so I didn't save the replay (bad idea me) but it was very back and forth since my match was a Von Bolt mirror. At least Game 3 was solid.
Barely started the video, but just wanted to say, it's not that von bolt is good against grit, it's just that Grit is overrated. And this is coming from a literaly Grit fanboy. I LOVE playing Grit. @@thebrazillianguytm2186 I would say even in normal funds, he gets countered by recons, or an infantry swarm. Remember that artys can only shoot one target at a time.

Hey, might be a strange question but how do you get grit as your most picked CO? Do you only play HF?
It happens; well-fought match, regardless.
