Thanks! Most of my mods are usually things I learned would make my life easier from the experiences I’ve had. lol I’m often off roading by myself, and found myself in some situations where the winch gets me out of trouble. Before the winch, I would have to say “well this is far as we can go, turn it around”. Now if there’s an anchor spot near, I hook up the winch and keep going.😁👍🏾

@@kingofthechair5752 it’s not necessary to do the lift first, but, you will notice the front end will bottom out a lot easier without the suspension upgrade. I would recommend doing the lift first.👍🏾
I installed this bumper on my forester wilderness a couple months ago. Even though it isn't made due the wilderness, it works surprisingly well! Lots of leftover parts though that don't work on the wilderness trim though haha
@@Lucrativesoldier yea, pretty much all those small brackets to connect the oem plastic to the body armor bumper won't fit. And yea, went with the Harbor Freight Badlands 5500lb winch.
@@JDS-DaltonSo your OEM bumper is not connected to the metal one? They are simply connected to the car yet not each other? Is the plastic of the bumper extra flexy now?
@@ludovici42 so just like on the standard trims, the actual plastic bumper just fits around winch bumper so there's no difference there, what it is is on the standard trims, there's a bit of plastic trim underneath the car that hangs down lower and needs those brackets to support it. On the wilderness trims, with the increased approach angle, that piece of plastic sits up a bit higher letting it rest perfectly inside the winch bumper, so, no need for those brackets, and no flexy bumper.
Very well done. I was fine till the end and you started cutting up the bumper. I'm not sure I have the stomach or steady enough hands for that. I just know I'd **** that up lol. This is a lot more involved than I anticipated.
lol thanks! Cutting the bumper is intimidating, but not so bad because you have the lines to follow, and don’t have to try to figure it out. Just take your time and you’ll be fine. Just remember, it’s better to not cut enough off than to cut off too much.👍🏾
Thank you! That is unfortunate. I really love the setup. It has gotten me out of some bad situations. Hopefully it will become available for you guys overseas in the near future.👍🏾
So I ended up ordering the exact same body armor from USA and shipped it to Europe and mounted it on my Forester Sport today. It looks awesome and very tough. I also mounted the same winch. Your video was a great help, since the documentation is (still) very bad (looks like the same that you had). Allthough I did have a few differences so I had to improvise. Thanks once again and good luck for awesome projects like this in future :)
Hi. Did you have to make any modifications to the shutter module for the front of the lower section of the radiator? It looked like the bumper and winch just mounted ahead of it.
Wondering how you wired up your winch. I will be doing this same exact install but want to make sure I'm doing it right. I eventually want to wire in some ditch lights and don't know if this all just hooks up to the battery or what?
So the winch is wired directly to the battery. Because it comes with a wireless remote control, there’s no need for any other wiring. It also comes with a wired remote control, but that plugs in at the winch whenever you want to use it. As for the lights, I did everything the hard way first time around. Now I’ve realized there’s a much easier and better way to do it, and that’s what I’m in the process of doing now. I’m installing this unit. amzn.to/3Vcerno
Thanks! That I don’t know. I think it wouldn’t hurt to order it and try it, and if it fits, great. If not then return it and get your money back. It will still involve quite a bit of work. Or you can reach out to body armor and ask. lol👍🏾
Thanks for replying! I might, but I don't wanna cut out the huge piece of the bumper cover only to find out it's a no go. I've emailed the company to see what they say.
@@chrishusker3947 lol I agree. I actually talking about checking the fitment. I thing if it will fit, mounting to the frame, then the bumper cutout shouldn’t be an issue. But please give an update with what they say, because I know others have been interested also. Thanks!👍🏾
