    Given my experience with the Tesla self drive feature, there is no way in hell I would take a ride in a Robotaxi!
    Now, to preface this, I LOVE the autopilot feature…. But it’s nowhere near perfect. There are many MANY times that the thing will brake randomly, or will try to swerve because a new lane opened up. It definitely helps make driving easier, but you still have to pay attention and periodically take control went it does wonky things. It’s to the point where my wife won’t let me use it when she’s in the car because these minor glitches scare the shit out of her.
    The full self drive, on the other hand, scared the shit out of me. It would do weird things at 4-way stops. Sometimes it would take forever to start moving at a stop sign, despite no other cars being around. It would randomly change lanes when I didn’t want it to. The system just didn’t in-still trust. It seemed very half baked.
    Now take that half baked system and throw it into a car that doesn’t have any means of taking control in the event of the car behaving unexpectedly. That’s a recipe for disaster.

    People are asking what happened to the new Tesla Model 2 or 2.5. I figured it out. The robotaxi was a cool car.
    The front section is made from 1 casting. The rear section is made from 1 casting.
    What goes on in between the front and rear can either be a 2 seater Robotaxi or a 4 or 5 seater Model 2.5 depending on the demand.
    So the drivable car will be produced right along side the Robotaxi. Using same main castings. Just a different interior design.

    Also, if FSD literally gives you the same functionality as a Cyber Cab while also giving you a backup should FSD malfunction, why would anyone buy a Cyber Cab. If technology has taught us anything, it’s that’s it’s never perfect 100% of the time. There are always bugs, glitches, patches, and fixes. The Cyber Cab basically makes it so that when (not if) that happens you’re basically stranded, whereas if FSD starts malfunctioning in your Model 3, you just turn it off, grab the steering wheel, and go on your merry way.

    Robovan VS Humps

  • @PaulADAigle
    @PaulADAigle 28 วันที่ผ่านมา +3

    The Cybercab's doors should open straight up. As it currently is, it would hit nearby vehicles. It might 'see' the offending obstructions, but even then, it would keep the passenger inside.
    The Cybervan has its own issue. It needs to be able to raise automatically, or it'll be damaged with every bump or pothole.
    The biggest issue preventing a commonplace cab system is the lack of charging. Many charging pads need to be installed in common areas to keep the vehicles in service, otherwise they will have a limited area to be used. I've heard some talk of charging pads installed in public roads, but that could be a minefield to get approved considering who pays for the electricity charges.

    • @billweberx

      @@billweberx That would be good, but it would require more material and increase the weight, not to mention more apt to cause problems. Going straight up would be almost the same as it currently is, and yet not infringe on nearby items. • @billweberx
      @billweberx 28 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@PaulADAigle Going straight up would require the same cost and materials as going straight back. In fact, it may cost less as you're not fighting gravity. Seems they would interfere in a garage or any place with a low ceiling.

    • @PaulADAigle
      @PaulADAigle 28 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@billweberx The slide on a van, for instance, is an additional cost, weight, and possible future damage. Depending on the design, it could infringe on airflow or interior space, although minimally. In a garage, there may be a height limitation, but simple software could recognize that height limit, and still allow for transitioning in or out.

Ev account for 2 percent of the cars on the road the exact same as it did 5 years ago . In fact half of telsa sales are to exsisting customers not new ones food for thought. Recently on X tesla account it was confirmed induction charging will have 90% efficiency - which is more efficient than wired charging.
      =====
      Aerodynamics always important for the life of a car - anytime going over 30mph.
      Inductive charging requires no human intervention, can still be free (solar) - and "inefficiency" solvable.
      Doors are perfect design for all people, including disabled.
      Automatic cleaning backed with AI in 2025 will be piece if cake.

      @@geo5982 The level of ignorance from you is astonishing. Elon makes promises like these all the time and delivers 10% of time at best, and even that 5-10years over schedule. Engineers have to fix problems Elon makes and those projects and big reveals only exist to boost stock value, Elon very well knows he's lying, but has to appease share holders. Aerodynamics do absolutely nothing for city car. inductive charging inefficiency is not solvable there will always be lasses that will ad up. Elon has proven he doesn't understand that relying on cameras instead of lidar is a dumb mistake. Don't you know that tesla sells "full self driving" for $8,000 which cannot be used for full self driving? Sure, bud, suddenly Lawmakers mind will be changed by Elons genius aura and laws will magically change nation/world-wide to even allow these cars on roads in less than a year. Stop sucking Elons D in yt comments he will never read.

      I agree with my level of ignorance. And yours.
      I never believed electric cars were possible. Musk and his teams literally "forced" the entire planet to follow them.
      I never believed a pencil shaped rocket can "land" to be reused. Musk and his teams did it. Nobody else did it. Not even governments, forget companies.
      By the looks of it, whatever was "impossible" by world standards - even if later than planned - Musk and his teams proved the entire world wrong.
      And he'll do the same with FSD, robotaxis and robots.
      They all will happen.
      It's just a matter of time.

    • @kasparsjansons9220

      @@geo5982 You didn't think electric cars were possible? So you don't know that first cars ever created were electric? Reason why everyone switched to ICE were range increase, ease of infrastructure and heavy, inefficient batteries...Only battery tech has improved since then.
      " Musk and his teams literally "forced" the entire planet to follow them." that's a big NO. New regulations made entire planet to follow them, don't forget that Just few years ago Tesla stock was more valuable than all car companies combined while producing less than 1% of all cars. Stock was, and still is inflated based on Elons persona. Elon is terrible at manufacturing and engineering, but he's a genius at marketing, everyone followed tesla because of his outrageous futuristic promises, of which all fell flat. As soon as he released Flamethrower, Tesla tequila, etc. they all sold out instantly. Sold out not because those were good products, but because who made them - a likeable genius cool guy Elon.😂 it would be cringe for tesla company to fail with the amount of money they received. Back in 2016 it received 500k pr-orders for model Y for down payment of 1000$ per car to be in a waiting list, that's 500milion$ to create production line and start manufacturing for that model. Same for other models. With such influx of capital it would be cringe to fail such an relatively easy task.
      "I never believed a pencil shaped rocket can "land" to be reused. Musk and his teams did it. Nobody else did it. Not even governments, forget companies." Well, I'm sorry to break it to you bet NASA achieved that back in 1993 with DC-X. Resons why reusable rockets were scrapped - lack of government funding, high maintenance costs and length of the maintenance. Also, at least at the time payload were more expensive than the rocket itself, So it was more viable for NASA to concentrate on the safety of the payload rather than reusability. The Space Shuttle was the world's first reusable space vehicle. The orbiter, its 3 main engines, and twin solid rocket boosters could be refurbished and flown again. More than 800 astronauts rode on 135 shuttle missions from 1981 to 2011.

    Musk is progressively discovering what a real car is. At the end of his life Teslas will be conventional cars, with conventional windows, with conventional doors, with conventional everything.
    And Musk will showcase all this as "improvements" when the competition has caught up silently, and overtaken Tesla in almost all domains, including autonomous drive. 😆

    Personally I don't like the design. is NOT catered for people with disabilities or elderly people. seats are so low to the ground so it's harder to get in an out of, especially without any handles. They should have made it taller and 4 seats facing each other so there is room to put your cane/crutchers etc. and those DOORS? They stick out so far when fully opened. wouldn't they have learned from the model X those doors are silly and problematic? For a taxi, it should be a sliding door like on a minivan. FAR easier access in and out.
    Just two seats is ridiculous. A LOT of people using robotaxis would be tourists with kids etc, but with two seats? If anything, have THREE seats in the front. the current seats are so wide you could fit there in there. They just designed this vehicle from the model 3. They should have made it like the robovan but 4 smaller with 4-6 seats
