1. A legitimate question. Decentralization means there is no central authority. Power is distributed and there is no single point of failure. Any definition I’ve ever read never mentions privacy, hence why I ask.

Monero mining is decentralized because of the nature of CPU mining and the fact that you cannot identify people that have mined it.
This is important for countries like China, which are restricting cryptocurrency.
If everyone was on a public ledger, correlation would be quite simple pull off and result in prosecution of the people that aren't allowed to use crypto.

So if I understand you correctly, you are saying that we can’t achieve true decentralization if only people where crypto is not banned can participate but others are exempt from participating because their countries don’t allow if? I can see where this argument is coming from but why should we let a country banning crypto be the decider that true decentralization is unachievable? As long as the power isn’t in the hands of a hand full, I feel like it shouldn’t matter if 4 or 5 countries can’t participate. It can still be decentralized amongst those that do have the option to participate

I never considered Bitcoin I just can't find myself ever trusting it. One of the main reasons is I don't understand the mining hardware but I do know the best ones are made in china and for all I know it could be salami slicing the bitcoins being mined

Amazing video! I use XMR a lot for WHM purchases and mostly found it due to it being required. I think buying monero legally isn't too dangerous as long as you use your own wallet as a middleman and never ever pay other people straight from exchanges

The way I've always seen the concept of cryptocurrency is that the government should be using something like Bitcoin, so citizens can view a public ledger at any time that shows what their taxes are spent on, while the public themselves are using something like Monero that's more akin to digital cash. You would convert your private XMR to public BTC to pay taxes and then you could view all the transactions and see how every cent adds up and is used. It would make it much easier to keep the people in government in check and keep them from becoming the self-serving criminal organization we have running amuck today.

One of the old lead developers broke off from Monero to create his own version of Ethereum with a more private blockchain, however I think with the exception of the lightning network there are no layer 2 privacy alternatives for any of the major coins.
Is the idea of a USD-pegged private stablecoin possible? I would totally invest in a project like that.

One major issue with Monero is the XMRig Brute Force attacks. Where people try to hack others just to spawn a XMRig farm to mine for them anonymously
Beautiful video. I've been part of the crypto world for nearly a year and aside from Bitcoin I really only have vague ideas of how the coins work. Still don't fully understand it, but atleast I'm not racking my brain for an hour trying to untangle a horrifically dense paper.

Key is in kyc or non kyc exchanges. Btc decentralization and privacy stops once you open kyc account.

Monero has everything that crypto coins should have. Privacy and true decentralization..I don't get why people haven't caught onto this coin yet. I guess people just want what's hyped (Bitcoin) and not what has actual good use cases (XMR and XRP)

Do you expect the price of monero to go up?
It sounds like you are trying to talk more slowly now in this video. I understand because you blow through topics in your videos sometimes lol. But I personally like the fast-paced style. It keeps me engaged in the video. Throughout this video I found myself zoning out and having to rewind a lot (even though I love these videos don't get me wrong lol).
Maybe do a TH-cam poll to see if people like slower paced videos or the fast-paced style

Monero can be printed physically (in theory), with the private keys inside the coin and the "view" key on the outside. This allows you to see the value of the coin on the outside, while breaking the coin allows you to spend it however you like.

No. The Monero wallet lets you create various different sub-wallets that act as proxies to your real one. If you withdraw your XMR to a private wallet, just create one of these sub-wallets and the exchange will never know or be able to tell.
