    Your videos were my entry point into the hobby of solo RPGs so it's a fantastic feeling to see my own work on here. Thank you for the overview!
    The GEMulator was a small project I used to learn Scribus and I never expected more than a few downloads. There is no interior artwork and the layout is a bit rough, but I'm happy to hear that so many people find it useful.

      I'm really trying to use it, but I feel like I'm missing something or it's just going over my head. Are there any plans or anything to show a video of how to use this? For us 'visual learners' haha, thanks for the tool either way!

    • @SoloTabletop
      @SoloTabletop ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@jonathanrector It could definitely use more examples and assumes that the reader knows a lot of solo concepts already. I've never done any video production so I can't promise anything more than that I'll look into it. If you haven't, check out MythicGME 2nd edition for a lot of good examples that can be applied to the GEMulator as well.

      @@SoloTabletop Thanks! I have, but I like how your emulator seemingly constrains things a bit. Keeps it focused, I like that.

    Thank you for posting this! It is second now on the reading list behind the Solo Game Master's Guide. Just getting started and these resources are very helpful!
    Just FYI - The sound is garbled in quite a few places in the video.

    • @GeekGamers01
      @GeekGamers01  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thanks for your support of my GM guide. And yes alas the sound get garbled when the file is compressed from the video screen share… unavoidable with the software that I have. This is actually the second recording I made because the first was worse!

      @@GeekGamers01 The audio issues in your last couple of videos are definitely more connected to microphone issues. Do you have a headset or a microphone that scrapes against your skin or clothing? Sounds like a lapel mic that rubs against something. Again, those sounds are not a video processing issue.

    I've used Mythic GME mostly as an assistant for running games, and I'm always interested in checking out similar tools.

    Wow this looks really cool! I like the idea that you can use it to play a full campaign as opposed to just a single adventure. Will check it out, could be a great compliment to what I'm already using.

    Love it. Thank you so much for this overview of this seemingly fantastic resource and tool. A quick query, if I may: I wonder how to mix this structure with the mapping of an adventure. So far, I am using existing modules as a starting point; using this emulator with a pre-existing adventure does not seem intuitive, but I could very well be wrong… 🙏🏻

    • @SoloTabletop
      @SoloTabletop ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I never tested (or designed) it with pre-written adventures and many of the campaign parameters would be hard to adapt, but you could probably use the Scene structure. Most pre-written adventures are already partitioned into scenes so just think about the PC goals and then use the GEMulator core gameplay loop.

      I haven’t tried to use it with existing modules so can’t offer suggestions here, sorry.

    This is very good. A problem with saving the downloaded pdf on iPad as most ends up looking like hieroglyphics? Can save to books ok. Will try later on a laptop.

    • @SoloTabletop
      @SoloTabletop ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't have an iPad but it's possible that the problem lies with the desktop publishing software I used (Scribus). Drivethrurpg had similar problems with the preview and doesn't recommend it anymore. Let me know if the problem persists and I'll check to see if I can fix it on my end.

      I just transferred the file from my laptop via OneDrive and it opens just fine. Then I downloaded it to Files and it opens just fine again. Maybe that would work for you.

    • @johnsalvage5740
      @johnsalvage5740 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Laptop works fine. It displays ok in ‘Books’ on the iPad mini so it isn’t really a problem. It’s an old iPad and runs old version of Acrobat that can’t be upgraded as the os can’t be either.

    Does this control NPCs?

    • @SoloTabletop
      @SoloTabletop ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Aside from the 'Disposition' table on the Main Oracle Sheet (p.14), there are no rules to control NPC behavior. NPC vocation can be generated with the table on page 25. For their goals and everything else, I usually use the Approach/Intent/Theme oracle on page 14.
