    I just finished a project making 700 individual doublesided magnetic hex tiles using classic hex tiles on DM's Guild that replicates Basic D&D Mystara tiles. I used 1" wood hex blanks, printed out the images, cut them out, glued them to each tile, clear coated, mod podged, then clear coated again. Then I did the same process to 120 1/2" wood squares for the map keys. I imbedded a 4x2mm magnet in each one. I can replicate a map in minutes or draw random tiles. I made enough to fill a 36"×24" black magnetic chalk board. It took me a few months but OMG it's freak'n glorious! Your channel helped inspire me! Now I'm doing 1000 magnetic NPC Tokens the Sly Flourish way. Those are way faster

      It started out small lol I just wanted 100. Then 200. I eventually stopped at 700. But then the backsides being blank bothered me. You can see how it grew as it unfolded. I won't lie, it turned into a monumental task 😅

      I can't not suggest d3 (half d6) tens and a d10 ones, ignore and reroll 25+
      Or, since I have been carrying d% for some reason, turn the tens into a d3, ignore the '90' and so on. Sucks that 10% to 28% are null rolls, but rerolls are quick

    Nice overview! I picked this up thanks to your endorsement. Its definitely the best product of its sort I've tried so far.
    I like that every hex has something interesting in it. One thing i was doing with hex crawls is making most hexes empty (just terrain and the usual chance of an encounter), to make it more "realistic". But that also makes hex crawling pretty boring! This supplement helped me realize my mistake, and by making just about every hex have something to offer exploration wise, my wilderness travel has become just as interesting as the dungeon delving, instead of being in between filler you have to slog through just to reach the next dungeon or settlement.

    the d30 = d20+d6 trick does not give the same probability distribution of a d30. For example, to roll a 30 on a d30 that's a 1/30 chance. To roll a 30 in a d20+d6 you need to roll a 20 and 4-6 on d6, which would be 1/20*1/2 = 1/40 != 1/30

    I would base the forest/jungle, grassland/desert, and marsh/wasteland decision on the latitude of the area. Jungles, savannahs, and deserts tend to be tropical, while forests, grasslands/plains, and marshes/swamps tend to be temperate to sub-arctic.

    But this will be more likely to give you a result in the range 11-20.
    d20 is 1-10, d6 is 1-3: result from 1-10.
    d20 is 11-20, d6 is 1-3: result from 11-20.
    d20 is 1-10, d6 is 4-6: result from 11-20.
    d20 is 11-20, d6 is 4-6: result from 21-30.

    Something just struck me on a re-watch. If my math is correct, the system they suggest for using a d20 and d6 as a sub for a d30 is not statistically the same as a d30. If you do what they say, I think you end up with essentially twice as many rolls between 11 and 20 as 1 to 10 or 21 to 30. It still averages the same, but it's weighted towards the middle. I would suggest this fix: on the d20, ignore rolls over 15, and instead of adding 10, add 15 on a 4 to 6 on the d6. I'm not 100% on this, but I'm pretty sure I'm right. I know the fix is the same as d30. I'm an old dice and math nerd, but I'm not all that up on stat calculation. Anyway, I doubt it would matter much in this situation, just something to be aware of.

    The math on that d30 roll is wrong. Instead of giving you an equal chance of rolling any number from 1 to 30, 1d20 with a 50% chance of +10 causes results from 11 to 20 to be twice as likely.

      Don’t know. I only play solo and it’s fun for me. Sounds like you have a very specific idea of what’s fun for you, so stick with that. However, random charts for world building have been a thing since the 1970s. So obviously there is more than one way to have fun.

      @@TheDungeonDive I can see the value of having random charts, especially when you just use them for inspiration. My issue is when your next move is just random and not revealing a part of a greater whole. I like the exploration and immersion in a world that might be strange, but is consistent.
