    I made a temp fuel tank for my 48 for when I have the tank/hood off. I used an old plastic tank from a riding mower an built a mounting bracket. Really makes working on the tractor easier.

      That’s a good idea. I probably have one around here somewhere I could rig up. Thank You

    When it’s cold like that, keeping your hands from going numb is challenged by the literal cold steel of the tractor AND your tools! I salute you for going as long as you did!! I call it a “re-build”, unless you’re doing a RESTORATION, which is to original specs. That’s a show piece and not gonna do much more than look perty and get caressed!! 😁
    Thanks for hangin in so long with us!!👊🏻👍🏻

    Hi Tom! I wondered where you were. That hood-gas tank arrangement is one of the few things I don't like about a Cub. I remember Daddy and I taking them off Grandpa's. I love that 54-56 front end and hood for the Cub, 100, 200 ect. tractors.

      Hi Mark. That grill is my favorite I think. I have all new wiring, lights, switches and gauges on it now and amazingly, it all worked the first try😅

      All my Cubs are older. I may take Tom’s advice, just buy a parts Cub to get the grille. My 130 grille has really taken a beating, I will have to spend some serious time to make it right again. Merry Christmas.

      Hi Tom. I wish the airline would allow me a Cub as checked baggage. I have the time here, probably enough tools, and even the space/place to work/tinker. I imagine the HOA would have a cow however, they get upset about a gas golf cart! I suppose I could source one local, still be a slow 1,350 trip to join it’s relatives! Merry Christmas and keep on keeping on. Stan here. The trip might make a good video, just really long.

    I agree on your definition of a “Restore”. I call it a re-fresh if your just replacing bits and pieces. Have a great day.

      Yes. That’s what I think too. I restoration in my mind means it’s out back to like new in every aspect. Have a great weekend

    At 13:02, SN 165153 and up: Fan hub changed to provide larger generator pulley. Therefore, two different size fan belts

    • @tommys_trucks_trains_tractors
      @tommys_trucks_trains_tractors  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The problem is that not all Cubs today have the original generators on them. I have had 2 that didn’t have a generator at all, so when you scrounge one up, it’s a crap shoot to have the right pulley. Thank You for watching

    A good tin man would make the cover slide into a groove on the tank. I’d be all for splitting it and welding little lips that would hold cover on, ok, kind of like the sheet metal on our aircraft engines? Quick clips? Id design one and sell it as an aftermarket? Need to register design? Patent? They used a flat screwdriver to put that belt on. Comes off the same way. Turn over pulley and slip it off.
