As a grandmother I can tell you it is a pleasure to spoil the grandbabies. We used to live on an incline and winter snow was a family affair to get in and out. We now live in Texas so snow is rare,but a couple of inches shuts down everything. This morning I went to a beginning crochet class and it was 70 F. But it's now been raining for 12 hours and is expected to keep going.
Dear Jana, thank you for your caring and beautiful vlogmas. It it so hard for so many people at this time of year and we sometimes feel helpless and frustrated. I think you are doing a wonderful job in your volunteer work. And I am impressed that you keep the christmas gifts for your children small and few. My weekend- Saturday I have run errands and bought groceries. I put up outdoor Christmas lights and found some little battery operated ones for the wreath on our door. My kids played in the sticky wet snow and my dog ate it. Tomorrow will be the Childrens Choir singing in church of which I am director, practicing for Christmas Pageant, and then home to hopefully put ornaments on the tree. We got the tree, lights, and garland up Friday although it took some electrical tape and zip ties to keep our tree together this year!
My mom was the same way with my children when they were young. She is gone now and my children grown, but we still talk about all the gifts my mom gave them, special memories.

I had a nice weekend. I went to spinning group on Saturday and had a lovely surprise when the Ashford dealer showed up with yarn, needles and lots of fibre. I bought a few things that I will wrap and pop under my Christmas tree after I record my next TH-cam podcast. On Sunday (today) I attended a Market and was very pleased to sell five skiens of my hand dyed Merino/Nylon yarn, from my "Shades of Australia" collection. Now I'm sitting back with a cup of tea and knitting the "Nightshift Shawl" by Andrea Mowry :)

Love seeing the snow but know the work involved. Used to be snowy here in Illinois at this time but now is 38oF with dense fog still at noon. blah.Trying to not be sad is impossible with people shooting out electrical transformers putting out power for long time, good legislator died suddenly at 45ys 34 hrs after going to hospital, heart aching for people displaced and cold all over the world while the Covid alert is back to high for my county and neighboring one. If only knitting could fix all this. But having a cup of tea with you, knowing someone across the ocean shares my big feelings helps me keep going. Thanks
Thank you for your videos. Christmas is not always happy days. I feel so sorry for the suffering innocent people are suffering through too. Maybe you can post a crying podcast and those of us that want to cry too can join you. We can offer comfort that we are not alone and there are so many others that feel pain. We can send our feelings of compassion hope and prayers out to the world for peace and comfort.
I think maybe the Quavourites is another reference to Quality Street. When you opened it I immediately thought 'The Purple One', which how people describe the most popular sweet in the Quality Street box. So it's a word to describe the Quality Street Favourite. (For anyone unfamiliar with Quality Street, the purple one has a centre which comprises a hazelnut in soft caramel.)

Hei - Ancient Arts yarn is from Alberta, and it is lovely yarn. I like duplicate stitch- I did clouds on a pullover for my granddaughter. The pattern called for the clouds to be stranded, but it meant huge floats. It turned out to be perfect. I am hosting a wine and cheese party tonight - but tomorrow is all about knitting. I am casting on a test knit for Meiju K-P and finishing up a gift for my sister in law.🇨🇦🇫🇮
Hello from Canada 🇨🇦 😊. I am on the last bit of gift knitting. I look forward to starting a new cast-on, maybe tomorrow or Monday. I've knit 6 stuffed animals for my grandchildren, and they will be so excited....but I have to admit, I'm glad they are almost done....I think it's knitting with the cotton yarn these past weeks that has caused me some awful wrist pain. Other than knitting I'll go out soon to watch the 5yr-old twins at their hockey, so cute...and decorate my tree today. I'm loving your Advent project, it's going to be beautiful 🥰
Today I can knit and watch vlogmas videos all day. But after each video I get up and clean for about 10 minutes. Then back to knitting and watching. It's a perfect rainy winter day. I hope you can have some relaxing knitting time too.
For my children, they get a hand made and an bought present for Christmas. For my son it'll be 2 long sleeved t-shirt (on the theme of Harry Potter, and one Star Wars), and the DS new Pokemon game. My daughter asked me for a bright pink mohai and merino sweater. The problem is I didn't receive the yarn yet, and it will be difficult to complete it in time. Can you send me some snow, as it is freezing cold here but no snow ? And your hand dyed yarn is so lovely. Have a goord cosy and knitting we.

Your daughter’s wanting a pink shovel made me laugh. Many years ago when my daughter was her age, she asked for pink soccer cleats. This weekend I put my small fir tree up, lights on it and other decorations. Had to go buy the right size length of nights because nothing I had fit. And I'm knitting knitting knitting trying to finish a 1x1 rib hat for everyone (cashmere/merino blend).

So much snow this year, Usually we get most of our snow ( in Ontario Canada) in January and February but we have had many feet already - not even inches!!! It gets so tiring. Maybe the Quafavorites are "QUAlity Street Favourites"?

Aw I feel for you Jana when you try to put at the back of your mind all your worries about Ukraine. I thought this would make you happy. I am English and working as an English teacher at a gymnasium school in Älvdalen, Dalarna county. One of the subjects is adventure where the students learn about survival techniques and all the different sports that go with snow. Anyway they had snowmobile suits that they were not really using any more so they have all been donated to an emergency organisation that is sending vital clothing to Ukraine. When I heard this I thought of you Jana - you are not alone having thoughts of the struggles in Ukraine - I am tearing up just telling you this. But back to happy thoughts - as you say! Relief! I was getting so worried. Your vlogmas is usually uploaded before midday my time, so I watch while having my lunch. I've been frantically checking every half hour....... I'm addicted to my daily dose of Jana 🤣Such a relief that you are ok, everything is ok. Phew. Your Christmas yarns are sooo pretty. Every year I see lots of gorgeous Christmas yarns & patterns and I wish we had Christmas in winter. Without the snow. If we had snow, we'd be shovelling 100m just to get to the road, then another 200m because we have no neighbours on the other side, so nobody to share the work 🥴We do have lovely cold winter nights - usually between -8 and -12C - but our winter days average 10c and it's a dry season generally. So we just have to deal with lots of frost & plenty of ice, but rarely any of the fluffy white stuff. BTW, do chatter about your electricity and shopping and all the other mundane stuff - it's actually very interesting to me. I love hearing about other cultures, countries, daily lives, northern hemisphere issues - the differences and the similarities. Now to wait for day 10 😆🥰
Happy holidays! My weekend plans are to finish my son's Star Wars sweater by Natela ASTAKHOVA. It's a xmas gift that I need to get in the mail. And ohh our mail is slow!
Today I wil make a tile of my advent blanket. Also I have an appointment with the haircutter. Tomorrow we will visit my brother and his wife in the west part of the country. Hope it won't be slippery. In a free moment I take my needles and knit. At home or in the car. Love your anthologyknit😍
You're wonderful!!!! I'm trying to think of ideas to keep children off the screens! They are not allowed it too much but at the weekends it is hard to limit.... especially when they are not well, sore throats etc... Your stove is so awesome! Would you mind sharing what name of stove is that ? You always cook on it ? We have an oil fired Aga in the kitchen but it is expensive to run so we only allow ourselves to use it for a few weeks over Christmas. .... In our living room we have open fire but the room gets very smokey so we think a Wood stove would be better ....but I'd love to cook on it ..... I'm knitting simple slippers . Just started knitting after kids are slightly grown up ...youngest is 7....but I knitted some more before I had a family... I would love some pointers on "tricks of the trade "....I knitted my first pair of socks on DPN but have seen videos on magic loop too , tempted to try . Greetings from northern Ireland

I think broderie is just such a lovely craft like knitting or crochet. Actually, I did some double stitching and those jumpers are absolutely beautiful. Nobody can tell the difference between that technic or faire isle. There is only one thing to pay attention: keep the stitches quite loose on top of the knitted ones, then after washing they will snugg perfectly onto the knitting. If on the other hand you double stitch too tight, the yarn will half desapear into knitting after washing. Love from the also snow white switzerland! ❤Pat

Your daughter’s wanting a pink shovel made me laugh. Many years ago when my daughter was her age, she asked for pink soccer cleats. Little girls love their pinks and purples!💕

On a silly note, I love snow and was enjoying seeing yours. Imagine my surprise when I got up from the couch and looked out the window and there was no snow! 🙄Lol ( We may get some this weekend. Fingers crossed.❄❄⛄⛄).
This weekend I put my small fir tree up, lights on it and other decorations. Had to go buy the right size length of nights because nothing I had fit. And I'm knitting knitting knitting trying to finish a 1x1 rib hat for everyone (cashmere/merino blend).
I’m catching up while I try and distract myself as my oldest get home tomorrow for the first time since August.

So much snow this year, Usually we get most of our snow ( in Ontario Canada) in January and February but we have had many feet already - not even inches!!! It gets so tiring. Maybe the Quafavorites are "QUAlity Street Favourites"?

Aw I feel for you Jana when you try to put at the back of your mind all your worries about Ukraine. I thought this would make you happy. I am English and working as an English teacher at a gymnasium school in Älvdalen, Dalarna county. One of the subjects is adventure where the students learn about survival techniques and all the different sports that go with snow. Anyway they had snowmobile suits that they were not really using any more so they have all been donated to an emergency organisation that is sending vital clothing to Ukraine. When I heard this I thought of you Jana - you are not alone having thoughts of the struggles in Ukraine - I am tearing up just telling you this. But back to happy thoughts - as you say! I so enjoy spending time with you. This weekend I am working on a trio of knitted Christmas trees and also some house cleaning. The chance of the trees being finished is a lot higher than my getting all of the cleaning done! 🙄

Relief! I was getting so worried. Your vlogmas is usually uploaded before midday my time, so I watch while having my lunch. I've been frantically checking every half hour....... I'm addicted to my daily dose of Jana 🤣Such a relief that you are ok, everything is ok. Phew. Your Christmas yarns are sooo pretty. Every year I see lots of gorgeous Christmas yarns & patterns and I wish we had Christmas in winter. Without the snow. If we had snow, we'd be shovelling 100m just to get to the road, then another 200m because we have no neighbours on the other side, so nobody to share the work 🥴We do have lovely cold winter nights - usually between -8 and -12C - but our winter days average 10c and it's a dry season generally. So we just have to deal with lots of frost & plenty of ice, but rarely any of the fluffy white stuff. BTW, do chatter about your electricity and shopping and all the other mundane stuff - it's actually very interesting to me. I love hearing about other cultures, countries, daily lives, northern hemisphere issues - the differences and the similarities. Now to wait for day 10 😆🥰
Happy holidays! My weekend plans are to finish my son's Star Wars sweater by Natela ASTAKHOVA. It's a xmas gift that I need to get in the mail. And ohh our mail is slow!
Today I wil make a tile of my advent blanket. Also I have an appointment with the haircutter. Tomorrow we will visit my brother and his wife in the west part of the country. Hope it won't be slippery. In a free moment I take my needles and knit. At home or in the car. Love your anthologyknit😍
You're wonderful!!!! I'm trying to think of ideas to keep children off the screens! They are not allowed it too much but at the weekends it is hard to limit.... especially when they are not well, sore throats etc...

We have an oil fired Aga in the kitchen but it is expensive to run so we only allow ourselves to use it for a few weeks over Christmas. ....
In our living room we have open fire but the room gets very smokey so we think a Wood stove would be better ....but I'd love to cook on it .....
I'm knitting simple slippers . Just started knitting after kids are slightly grown up ...youngest is 7....but I knitted some more before I had a family...
I would love some pointers on "tricks of the trade "....I knitted my first pair of socks on DPN but have seen videos on magic loop too , tempted to try .

And why are you despising double stitching the pokemons? I think broderie is just such a lovely craft like knitting or crochet. Actually, I did some double stitching and those jumpers are absolutely beautiful. Nobody can tell the difference between that technic or faire isle.
There is only one thing to pay attention: keep the stitches quite loose on top of the knitted ones, then after washing they will snugg perfectly onto the knitting. If on the other hand you double stitch too tight, the yarn will half desapear into knitting after washing.

I Will do a lot of knitting ( as always 😂) and I’m going to make some Christmas cookies “ vanillekranse “ ( vanilla wreath ) and “klejner” ( it’s a bugnes ) a cake, that is fried in coconutoil. A Danish traditionel christmascookie.
